Running Outlook 2003 on Vista Business. Have copied outlook express folder from old PC to C: on Vista. Import says "Cannot open mail folder". I imported into Windows Mail so it isn't a security problem, as the folder and all subfolders/files are owned by the user who has full control of the folder and files. What can the problem be? Is it because there is no email acount set up as yet?
When I initially downloaded itunes, my cd drive disappeared. I found a link to a fix online, and it did fix it. Well I have installed an update to itunes, and now it shows it is there, but it will not import or rip cds. I have windows vista 32 bit.
Is it possible to import directly from an Outlook data file (.pst)? The wizard seems to only work if you have an active installation, which I do not after upgrading from XP to Vista 64 (along with a new motherboard, processor and memory). I had the older version of Office Home and Student that came with Outlook, but Office 2007 Home & Student does not.
My old PC had Outlook (or Outlook Express) and I saved off the emails by selecting them all and dragging them to a folder on my network. Doing this creates an msg file for each email. Now, like I've done many times in the past, I would like to import them into the emailprogram of a new laptop. So I dragged the msg files into Vista Windows Mail and instead of importing the messages it creates a brand new email with these msg files as attachments! The only reason I save email in this manner is because Microsoft really dropped the ball when it came to transferring email from one PC to another. I forget which it was but either Outlook or Outlook Express was so bad it was a disaster. This method always worked so this is what I've decided to do. Now it looks like Microsoft's found a way to f*** this up too.
I have a problem with Windows Movie Maker. I can import audio and pictures but somehow I can't import videos. I have the correct codecs. Here's a screenshot
I'm running Vista home premium 64bit. New computer, new operating system I wanted to import some pics from my camera (nikon D300) and noticed that there is no longer a "camera, photo, scanner wizard" like XP had. I decided to try and use the windows live photo gallery. I picked the groups I wanted to copy off of my camera. Gave them a name or tag. Went to import options and choose my writable drive to import them to. I get this box: options/import options: you cannot import to this folder. Choose another location. I have tried both a CD / DVD, and I know there is room. I went into windows explorer and manually copied the pics to the writable drive so I know its working. So my question is: Why wont Windows live photo gallery let me save my photo's off of my camera to my writable drive?
Anyone tell me how to restrict a user on Vista Business to only run one single program? I'm talking no control panel, no search, nothing except my program, log off, shutdown, and restart. Have basically gotten all programs taken off the start menu and am stuck. Need to disable the access to the user account and the search box.
I know you can get Hold 'em on business but why can't you get it on Home Premium. I don't want or need business but would like the game. Is there anyway of getting it on Home.
I am trying to use RDP from my Vista Ultimate 64 bit desktop machine to control my vista business laptop but when i start the RDP and enter the username and password it responds with "Your credentials did not work". I have successfully connected to other XP machines from the ultimate 64 machine and i have successfully connected to the business laptop from xp machines which hint towards there being an issue between these two machines only.
I'm installing a brandnew Vista Home machine and like to import all e-mails from the old Vista Home computer (both on Windows Mail). The old computer has gone south, but there is an image (on an external hard-drive) of drive C: and on mounting that image, I'm having access to all files. Don't know where to search and how to proceed that "import" of all e-mails and all addresses (no newsgroups).
When I select Outlook in the import wizard a message box opens staitng that "e-mail cannot be imported from a MAPI client. MAPI is not installed or there was an error starting MAPI" What's the problem here? Do I need to install MAPI for indowsVista / Windows Mail and if so how? Or is there some other way to import the Outlook.pst file that I exported from WinXP/Outlook?
I'm trying to import bookmarks (favorites) from Firefox into IE8. The option to import from another browser is grayed out, and when I try to import from a file, I only get the last few bookmarks.
I just set up window mail and it works fine, but the question is why all email from yahoo (Transfer from) imported to window mail and left none in yahoo it self. I would like to know if I can transfer back to original or safe all the mail from window mail, so I can use them in other computer.
I recently had my main laptop "crap" out and had the hard drive put onto an external hard drive. I have many contacts, folders and e-mails that I need to put into Windows Mail on my backup laptop but for some reason I can't import them due to permission access?
Downloaded Vista Business Upgrade from Microsoft and a week later my hard drive is starting to fail with bad blocks, but files are still intact I have a new hard drive installed and want to perform a complete restore of the computer, so I did a complete backup of the computer. I restarted the computer pressed F8 and on the options there is no computer recovery options.
I Installled Vista Ultimate in my laptop now i got activate in 30 days. actually i have VISTA Businees key. i want revart back to VISTA BUSINESS without reinstall, is there any way to back the vista business?.
I have a Sony notebook that came with Vista Business OEM from Sony. I have upgraded it to SP1 and have added various updates since then. I have a retail Vista Ultimate license/DVDs and a retail Vista Ultimate + SP1 license/DVDs. What's the least problematic way to take what I have and end up with the Sony notebook running Vista Ultimate SP1? Is it even worth it?
I don't want to do the Anytime Upgrade since the full retail licenses I have are already paid for. I'm a little leery because so much of the stuff Sony installs seems very fragile. (For instance, I don't want the TPM code tipping over.) I'm also really leery about uninstalling SP1, in part for the same reasons plus there have been many updates and changes since then.I had mentally reserved the SP1 license for the next desktop I build (Nehalem/Bloomfield X58?) and had hoped to use the slipstreamed DVD to avoid having to build that one and then immediately go install SP1. OTOH, if there is a way to get a pair of unkeyed Vista+SP1 edition DVDs as replacement or SP media--that I can use with my pre-SP1 retail key--I would consider that.
I have Vista Business x64 installed from a full (non upgrade) disk and running nicely on my main PC. I also have jus received a copy of Ultimate full install licence. I want to replace the Business on my main PC with Ultimate and then reinstall the Business version on a new PC with minimal rework. How do I do this. Can i upgrade the Business using the Ultimate key and then reinstall the Business and use the key previously on my main PC with the previous Business install (I assume I'd have o call MS to reactivate)???
I have vista home premium, supplied with machine on a HP pavillion a642. its OK but I cannot network with my 3 other computers all running XP pro. is this down to incompatability, too lower version of vista orsomething else? I would look at upgrading to business or ultimate BUT can these be loaded on top of the home version & just over write it or will I have format the HDD & reinstall everything?
I have 3 VB machines running IE8. All worked fine until today, where nobody can open the IE8 app. The one XP machine in the office is working fine on IE8, and the Windows SBS 2008 machine we have is running fine on IE7. We did emergency Firefox installs, and this is what we are using now to do browsing. It looks like the program is trying to open, but just doesn't. The only update installed yesterday was a definition update for Windows defender, although since then I have installed SP2 on my machine to see if it cures.
I installed IE 8 beta 1 and decided to remove it per MS' instructions. The system reverted to IE7 but now when I launch IE, it crashes with a DEP error. I followed MS' help instructions and added IE7 to the DEP exclusion list. However, IE7 still crashes with the same error. I wanted to reinstall IE7 but I could not find it on MS' web site. - Is IE 7 for Vista available as a separate download?
- Any other suggestions with regards to the DEP error? Note: I have FF3 and Opera 9.5 on my system. I also use AVANT as a front end to IE. The interesting factor is that AVANT works just fine... which I see as odd being that it must have IE to work with.
I have Vist Home Premium on my new computer. I needed to upgrade for my job. I was told to buy the Business Upgrade. I did and it turned out to be the wrong product. You CANNOT upgrade from home premium to business. I am now stuck with this software.
Dell Dimension 8300 about 5 yrs old, running WinXP Pro SP3. Tried to do an upgrade the last 2 days, and it appeared to go most of the way through the process. Walked in on it yesterday to check the status and found it cycling through the bootup screens. It first says that Windows didn't/can't start up normally and gives me 3 options - start vista, go back to the previous version or do a setup rollback. Then it goes to the normal F8 screen before it tries to load windows and begins the process again.
Having checked I cannot find an upgrade path from Home to Business. I have a client with 5 Vista Home PC's which need to be moved to Business in order to connect to SBS2003. What options are available?
I have noticed that one newsgroup consistently shows the list of headers starting several rows down from the top, while all others work correctly. This is just a minor annoyance, but any ideas why this is happening and how to correct it?
I was using Outlook Express on my XP machine until it died, so I switched everything to my Vista laptop which has Microsoft Mail. It seems just about the same, but all the emails and contacts are now separate files rather than the old MDX format. I found some software that can be purchased that will extract the emails into the new EML format, but I would think Microsoft would have a built-in or freely available utility to do this, since both are their products and included in the OS. Can I also install OE on my Vista computer and then save emails as EML?
I am trying to import some folders into Windows mail and keep getting 'not responding' even after waiting. I get the selection for Windows Mail 7, then Browse to get my files but then 'next' doesn't proceed. I have Vista.
I have windows xp pro and vista on my computer. I find I like OE 6.0 on my xp pro to be much faster than windows mail, and I need to switch to windows mail. Unfortunately, i have several accounts on windows mail, and I have forgotten their passwords. So I exported each account in windows mail, and have saved the internet account settings (in *.iaf files). When I use the import function in OE 6.0 (Tools->accounts->Import), it won't let me import any account settings. I don't remember the passwords of a few of those accounts (which currently work with windows mail), but I need to create such accounts in OE 6.0. Is there a way I can migrate account settings in windows mail to OE 6.0?
i can not import videos into my movie maker and some of the videos i play on windows media player do not have a picture just the sound. i have windows xp professional and can someone explain what is wrong and how to fix it?
