I use Vista Home Premium. I have an open source app that I want to be maximized when launched. How can I do this?
I've tried maximizing in 2 ways:
- Using the small square at the top right.
- Dragging the corners of the window to fill the screen.
In both cases, if I close and then re-open, the window has its default size.
In XP I was able to get my windows to remember to open maximized or at least full size. Is there a way to get them to open full size or maximized in Vista? Every time I open a new window (don't like the tabs) it opens small (about the size of this Post Message box!). While it's not a major deal to make it full screen, I'm getting tired of it!
I did download (free version) TweakVI to get rid of the shortcut arrows on my desktop icons - don't know if that is a feature for that in there like in the TweakUI program or not. I did try to search for this, but wasn't sure what it's actually called to produce good results (I got a lot of blue screen responses, so I know my search string was WAY off.)

View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to I reset the default window size and position of Vista Media Center? I somehow managed to either re-size it or move it off of the reachable portion of the desktop. If I go non-maximized the window shrinks off up towards the top and disappears. If I try and select move or size it takes me to the top of the screen and shows the arrows to move and size, but I cannot find or move / size the window. Is there a way to reset the default window position?
View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently Dual booted Vista Prem 64bit and Ultimate 32 bit, when it comes to the sceen for selecting OS it always counts down and opens Default. You should be able to use Up/Down arrow keys, to select required OS, and Enter should activate instantly. Anyone any ideas to stop the countdown and transfer activation to keyboard keys.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn folder options it has selected "Open each folder in the same window" but it never does. When I right-click and choose explore it opens in the same window as expected and it is the default action however if I double click a folder it always opens it in a new window.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are all familliar with "Explore" and the Tree structure on the left side, vs "Open", which opens a folder in a single window. Normally, in Explore, as you click on the folders you travel thru the tree and can pretty quickly navigate thru the system, whereas with Open, you can get there, but it isn't quite as easy if you take a wrong turn to back out & recover. Explore is a good name for that option, as that's what it's best for. It also means you don't have to have two windows open to move files, as you can drag to any folder in the nav pane with relative ease. With Open you're better off with multiple open windows for those file relocation tricks..................

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had no issues with Windows Mail as my default client and a new message window would open when I clicked mailto links. Earlier today I clicked a mailto for the first time in a week or so, and it tried to open Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is also installed on my machine, but not the default mail handler. Going into the Mozilla Firefox options, I found that for some reason it was defaulting to Outlook. I changed the setting to Windows Mail, but now instead of opening the new message window, it just opens Windows Mail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got this problem after I installed Vista SP1. Inside Windows Explorer, when I double click a folder in the right pane, that folder is opened up as a new second window. No matter what I change in the settings window I cant get rid of this. If I instead right-click the folder and select "Browse", the folder contents is shown in the same window, but (as I said) double click the folder icon, a new window opens up. Seems to me that "double-clicking" a folder in the right pane triggers the "Open" action instead of "Browse" action.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am getting ready to use Brink's tutorial on setting a scheduled System Restore point each day and I noted that he said that it was standard for Vista to make a Restore point each day at start up and one at midnight. Last time I looked I did not have these in my list of points, so I checked to see if the startup and midnight points were indeed enabled to be created. They were. But when I went to look at System Restore points available I had none of the startup or midnight points available. Further checking showed that 2 days ago when I installed Nero 9, it made 40 restore points in the 17 minutes it took to install! Why would it do that? Does it make any sense? I made one before I installed it, and okay, I could see it might make one itself before the install, but ... 40??!
So, am I correct in assuming that because of these 40 restore points the system is now not able to save the StartUp and Midnight points because I also manually have made one or two per day over the past few days, so it keeps the manual ones and the Nero ones and throws out the System-created ones because there is not enough room and they are the lower priority? Or what is going on here? I did not change my default system restore storage size or anything, it is set at default settings.
I use 'Computer' (use to be called Windows Explorer) a lot in Windows Vista Home Premium to manage my hard drive. It's a nuisance that it starts up as a too small window and I have to stretch it each time to see more. Is there a way to force it to memorize the previous state and restore?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I go from my desktop to my internet homepage (yahoo), I sometimes get a small window , and sometimes get a whole-page size window. I prefer the whole-page size without having to click that middle restore button on the upper right-hand corner of my screen everytime I go to my homepage. First, what are the names that describe the smaller size window, and the larger one? Is that what a thumbnail is? Second, I must presume there's a setting somewhere, where I can toggle the whole-page size preference when I go from my desktop to homepage. Can you tell me if there is, and how do I get to it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Windows dialog boxes are too small to display all the text they contain. And as we know, these verdammt boxes are not resizable. Up to now, this has been a minor annoyance, but now it's a major one: it's keeping me from completing the Vista x64 SP2 patch install.
As you can see in the attachments, the window text is just too big. It overflows the sides of the dialog. And because the SP2 EULA screen requires that you view all its text, and I can't, I never get an active "NEXT" button to proceed with the installation. Changing screen res does not help.
I've tried Personalize > Windows Color and Appearance > Open Classic Appearance Properties to reset the Window Text size, but the option to do this is grayed out. I've tried the registry hack found on this board to try and substitute a smaller font, but no go. I've tried several hackware proggies to try and force unresizeable windows to resize, but no joy there either. I've also tried Chris Pirillo's Vista Font Fix to no avail
Is there an app similar to wordpad that can store window size and position for each file. I'm using it like a stick-it note. One file may contain to do list, which I size to a small window since each line is very short, another file may contain rebates status which would have a wider window, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open windows explorer menu it opens at a smaller window size then I'd like it to, so I resize it and close it but the next time that I open it from right clicking on the start menu and choosing explore, it opens at the same position and small size and isn't holding the window resizing that I did... What I've tried so far to make the window size "stick":
1. Use the Windows Explorer "ALT" key to bring up the File menu at the top of the explorer and choose "close" after resizing my Explorer window.
2. Made sure that the "Remember each folder's view settings" is checked. I've also unchecked it, chose apply, then recheck marked it and chose apply just in case it needed refreshing.
3. Used the "X" button at the top right of the window to close it after resizing it to the size that I want. And finally
4. Chose the upper left corner menu (the one with Restore, Minimize, Move, Close in it) and chosen Close...............
Isn't there a way to scale the 'Remote Desktop' host desktop to the window size on the remote client? We would like the host desktop to automatically shrink-to-fit the window on our remote client computer, much like the option available in 'Remote Assistance'. So far, our only option is to view the host desktop at full-size in a smaller remote client window with scroll bars that allow us to scroll to different areas of the host desktop. Is there not an option that forces the host desktop to shrink-to-fit the clent 'Remote Desktop' window?

New to Windows mail. I type and view screen using Ariel size 10 but when I print out mail I get size 12. I can't find a way to change it and it's annoying.

You can see the size of individual files in the Size column but you cant see the folder's contents size. This extreemly frustrating and I cant seem to find where I can enable that function. I know you can scroll your mouse over folders one at a time and a window will apear and you can see the size then, but thats just inconveniant for what Im doing. I need to be able to glance at multiple folder sizes constantly.

Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.
