If you can't get into Windows Colour and Appearence how can you Enable Transparency,? This means applications such as Dreamscene are unable to run.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem with windows vista. I really want to get the aero theme working but I am failing at it. I have windows vista home premium 32bit. I also have 2 gb memory , 2.66 GHz, My resolution at the moment is 1024x768. I have a 19 inch widescreen (dell). Here are some pictures that might help you tell me what my problem is........
i really want to get the stylish vista with the aero fine theme
I've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
I use Vista Home Premium. I have an open source app that I want to be maximized when launched. How can I do this?
I've tried maximizing in 2 ways:
- Using the small square at the top right.
- Dragging the corners of the window to fill the screen.
In both cases, if I close and then re-open, the window has its default size.
I have aero turned on and the transparency works for all application windows but my taskbar is just black. it's not transparent or anything. i know that when a windows is maximized then it will turn black but i don't have any windows or anything open and it is still black.

Attached is a screenshot of my desktop. The windows transparency is great, but I'd like to get rid of some of the "smokey-ness" of the taskbar.
how can i get a full nice transparency? Because i HATE glass transparency, it's like i'm blind and see all wrong O_ò. So i disabled it, lol. I will better like a full transparency, is there any way to get it on a Vista Home Premium 32 bit?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIm new to vista but really like it alot except that my install does not have the thumbnails off the task bar or transparency. I have Vista Home Basic 32bit. I installed this the same time as a friend of mine we both bought the same version for vista (At a discount of course) His install has these options but mine does not. I have posted else where without any real answers to my questions, most everyone said make sure your video graphics drivers are installed which of course they are. I have of course Activated my install and ran all the nec. updates including SP1. Is there a way i can tweak this think to have these featurs that i like so much?

In XP I was able to get my windows to remember to open maximized or at least full size. Is there a way to get them to open full size or maximized in Vista? Every time I open a new window (don't like the tabs) it opens small (about the size of this Post Message box!). While it's not a major deal to make it full screen, I'm getting tired of it!
I did download (free version) TweakVI to get rid of the shortcut arrows on my desktop icons - don't know if that is a feature for that in there like in the TweakUI program or not. I did try to search for this, but wasn't sure what it's actually called to produce good results (I got a lot of blue screen responses, so I know my search string was WAY off.)
how to I reset the default window size and position of Vista Media Center? I somehow managed to either re-size it or move it off of the reachable portion of the desktop. If I go non-maximized the window shrinks off up towards the top and disappears. If I try and select move or size it takes me to the top of the screen and shows the arrows to move and size, but I cannot find or move / size the window. Is there a way to reset the default window position?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows Vista Ultimate with "Aero" and I'd like to turn off the transparency of the taskbar and perhaps also change its color (currently two shades of gray) without disabling "Aero" and without changing the transparency or color effects of other windows. Is this possible? Are there options within Windows or free 3rd party apps that can do this? I've seen this question posed before but with no satisfactory answer.
I notice that maximizing a window makes the taskbar appear opaque, but then I can't see the desktop. I'd like the taskbar to be opaque all the time. I also notice that using a background that's black at the bottom can make the taskbar appear opaque, but that prevents you from having fun with different backgrounds.
Throughout the beta process Microsoft received a lot of feedback on how the taskbar and the window border changes to black when you maximize a window. Before the final release they altered the behavior slightly so the window and taskbar would still turn opaque and black, but with a very slight tint of color that matches the color of your glass. This change satisfied some users but left others still in the dark. Many users wanted a maximized window to remain transparent as well as the taskbar. Once the final build of Windows Vista shipped, all hope was gone that we would have transparent maximized windows, until today.Â
Using a very cool and free utility called VistaGlazz by CodeGazer.com you can easily make your maximized windows and taskbar transparent. Additionally, this utility allows you to easily patch your uxtheme system files so that you can use hacked visual styles with just the click of a button, instead of the multiple step manual procedure.
Let's get started: ...
Where did my Aero go? My computer is by far good enough to run Aero because I had it going for a long time and just out of the blue it's gone...I have Intel core 2 duo 2.5 4gigs ram 512mb nvidia video card with the latest drivers.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright, I'm not necessarily the most computer savvy person so I let one of my friends who is genius with this stuff work his magic on my computer every once in awhile.
Well, one of the first things he did to my laptop when I got it, was get rid Aero. At first I didn't mind, but now I want it back. And I mean its gone. When I go into "Window Color and Appearance" it doesn't even have the Aero option listed anymore.
I no longer have Aero theme enabled, and, I can't select it from the list. This has started after I had to format my drive and install Vista all over. Everything else with it seems just fine. Only this "Windows Vista Transparency" is not working. There is only one place I can think of to enable it at, and it is not there. Do I need to install some updates?
There should be another option there "Windows Vista Ultimate" I think, but I could be wrong.
But how do I enable transparency and all of the other effects of Aero?
Ive always use vista home premium, but after I used glary tools to defrag my regestry and then it said restart my comp annd i did, then whe i go to my pc, i see it has windows basic features, like on aero. So i went to personalinize and I SEE NO AERO feature!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just installed Vista Home Premium recently and there appears to be no Aero. I've checked through the personalization menu, control panel, etc, but still no Aero. I I have a bad graphics card, but it's at least 128MB. My score for Desktop Performance for Aero is 1.9.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm confused about the Aero Glass interface. Is the Aero Glass interface the same as the Aero color theme listed in display properties? If a person has Vista Home Premium and their computer's hardware supports it, does Vista default to Aero Glass or Aero Basic? The reason I ask is because when I first turned on my laptop, the windows were transparent and I could see the desktop through the borders when the windows were maximized. Was this Aero Glass? Does running Vista in Windows Classic Mode (where it looks like Win9x) save RAM and CPU cycles, or does it not make a difference as long as the hardware is strong enough to support Aero Glass?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Nvidia 8800Gt Up-to-date Drivers 1tb Hd Runnign Vista Ulti 32 and i just applied a crap load of patches last night and then Sp2 about a hour ago. And now Aero disappeared, Checked Services and all that jazz, everything is running. Already redid my score. Every time i try a Theme the uses Aero i get Windows Classic. Along with SP2 Windows Poweshell was installed, could that be messing it up? I dont have anything but updates recently installed. no incompatibility programs. I heard that sometimes when u apply Service patches ur Serial can mess up and might need re-activation? Cuz i remember before i bought a Ultimate Serial after the time limit i couldn't use Aero. I upgraded from Basic to Ulti. So yea, Checked the services, did the score, checked reg, checked processes, and tried most of things suggested on the forums.
