Is there any way to build a toolbar on the desktop like we used to have in 2002? I really need this. I have a ton of shortcuts that I use all the time. They were very handy in the sidebar. I can't believe MS has not put this back in because I see a lot of people asking for this.
View 6 RepliesI don't find the desktop to be of much use, too many icons take away from the image I choose to display, but I do use the desktop toolbar from the taskbar quite a bit. There are icons that I cannot remove from the desktop toolbar such as the Network & Control Panel icons they won’t leave the toolbar, and I can’t seem to kill the IE icon off for good, either.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled windows vista home today and at first many things werent working such as my wireless and my 3d flip...so i searched on htfc and found out i needed the drivers from the computer maker. Now after downloading and rebooting, the aero scheme is working which is great. but the only thing i cant seem to figure out is that toolbar that hangs and hides up on the desktop, i dont know what its called, i cant see it, i cant find it. before today i just put my mouse up to the top of the screen and i could get quick access to whatever i had put up there. firstly whats it called and how do i get it back?

I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. It had shortcuts to word processors, calculator, pictures, music movies, etc..

View 9 Replies View RelatedWith IE 8 and Google Toolbar. I installed IE 8 for Vista 64 Bit. When I installed the Google Toolbar, it showed up at the installment, but then when I relaunched IE 8 Google toolbar was not there. It also was not in the "Add Ons". But was in my Programs. I uninstalled and reinstalled two more times and it will not show up in IE 8. I had MSN as my home page , so I had to change the home page to Google in order to have my mail. I have gmail. So what is wrong here?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my new Dell Studio XPS for less than a week. I love it, it is tons faster than my previous computer with a WEI of 5.9. However, today I was wasting time playing Sid Meiers Railroads and the game crashed. After the crash the bar at the top of my computer screen was missing. It was like this tool/task bar(this one isn't specifically mine): It has Categories and the recycle bin in it. Can someone explain how I can get the toolbar back. I tried the only system restore point I had on my computer, but that didn't work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI can do a ctrl+alt+delete and bring up the task manager and kill the process BUT my desktop has lost the task bar and starting orb. Moving the mouse top or bottom or to either side does not 'unhide' the toolbar so that I can access my USB drive with rkill.com (a process to kill this malware) on it. Have tried booting into Safe Mode and the viral program appears there also, but once again cannot access the Start Orb or Task bar. I have no knowledge of any 'DOS' commands should I be able to go to safe mode with cmd prompt. Using Vista Home Premium.

It inserted just under the File, Edit, View, Insert, etc bar and above the toolbar which includes Send, cut, copy, past, etc bar. how to eliminate this nuisance? Now i can re-organise them such as in image 2, but as soon as i restart, the files sort to alphabetical. I've been using Vista since the public beta's and not experienced the problem until i just reinstalled last week.

It's not a huge problem, but i found it very annoying when i am working and need to bring up something quickly while the screen is filled with 100 windows.
When I first got my new Sony Vaio model VGN-NS30E, I installed Comodo Security Suite. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I wasn't happy with it and tried to uninstall it. I now run AVG free edition, and Windows firewall. I also now use Firefox browser, and am happy with my set up. I don't really like internet explorer, so don't use it. When I installed Comodo, the HopSurf Toolbar was bundled with it. I did my homework after the event, and found, ( online ) issues with HopSurf

i have been unable to look at certain aspects of my toolbar. everytime i pass over my clock, battery meter or network status bar and try to preview them, windows explorer shuts down and has to restart. ive run numerous system restores and they all have failed, as well as security sweeps and nothing seems to be able to find the problem.

i.e. under older windows you could:
If you add one or two toolbars to your Windows taskbar, regain some space. Right-click on your created taskbar and on the popup menu that appears, uncheck "Show Title." This removes the title description for your taskbar. If you know the programs on the taskbar by their icon and don't need to see the names of the programs, uncheck "Show Text" as well.
Does this no longer exist in Vista and that I can no longer reclaim the space?
On my desk window my lower toolbar is no longer accesable. The on with the clock, network e.d. in. Also the quick launch icons the minimized windows are no longer clickable. If I click on it I recieve the error sound. Only the windows main icon works on the lower left side. It is very irritating to need to open a window that is minimized via the taskmanager to activate the window. What's wrong with my toolbar and how can I restore it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a question about the toolbar though. With previous versions of windows I could fill up the toolbar with open windows and just click on the one I wanted. Now in Vista it will only show me 2 open windows at a time in the tool bar. If I have 3 or more open I have to click on the up or down arrow to find them and then click on them. Is there any way to have more than 2 windows show on the toolbar. This would be for separate applications so the grouping option won't help me here.

a) Turn it off so it only appears when I want it.

b) Uninstall it altogether. I've looked in the uninstall programs section of
