I keep an empty folder on my desktop to hold files I have downloaded until I can work on them or for temporary storage etc. With xp this folder's toolbar had an "X" icon for deleting any highlighted files. For some reason I can't find this in Vista.

However, when I select Tools in the contact folder I have only 4 choices - Map Network - Disconnect Network Drive - Open Sync Center - Folder Options. I cannot find the options to Import or Export anywhere. I want to export the email addresses so they can be used on my laptop running XP pro.

For example, I want my yahoo.com emails and sbcglobal.net emails placed into different inboxes. I can't find any options under Tools/Accounts to specify this, and when I create a new folder, my only choice of where to place the new folder is under Local Folder.

screen and somehow the icons for my programs on the toolbar moved to the
middle of the toolbar and the icons showing "open programs" moved to the
left of the toolbar. It used to be reversed - programs icons on the
left and open programs in the middle. How do I get that back the way it

I have a simple text file with a certain word in it. I try to find this text file, but vista won't find it. Windows 2000, linked by network, finds it within a second.
I have tried all available options.
"include non-indexed"
"always search file names and contents"
"find partial matches"
"include subfolders"
etc
etc
It just doesn't work. Why is there not a simple search function that actually works like in windows2000? I am using Vista Ultimate 64 bit. But not having a working search function doesn't look that "ultimate" to me.
How do I create a new toolbar? How do I edit the Toolbar Command Buttons (Icons?)? How do I create and add an Autocorrect (AC) Command Button to an Excel Toolbar? I HATE the ribbons, period? I LOVED the nice, neat, useful, and tiny toolbars I created and edited in the 2003 programs and this 'RIBBON' thing is the most obnoxious thing ever! I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............
View 7 Replies View Relatedi've just installed XP pro 32x on my 70GB partition, and have Vista Ultimate 64x on my 160GB partition. I installed these myself and are custom OS's, im not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but.. Once i installed XP, there was no options to boot into Vista. So in goes the Vista repair disk, and im back into Vista..and pretty soon id like to get back into XP ( My media centre, editing, creating videos, and playing games, and doing things non-vista compatable) but i dont want to have to recover my damn computer everytime. Btw ive tried other sites and forums before bothering you guys.

When I print to this fax server in Windows XP the Fax Wizard walks me thru all the necesarry screens and remembers my Delivery Notification settings, i.e. whether I want a notification, the email address I want the notification sent to and the attach a copy of the fax to the notification.
All of these settings I can find in the XP Registry at HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftFaxUserInfoReceiptEMail(dword), ReceiptAttachFax(dword) and ReceiptAddress(string). However, I cannot find these same settings in Vista Registry. I can set these each time I send a fax in Vista under ToolsOptions, but it is a pain to have to set these everytime I send a fax in Vista. Where can I find the equivalent Vista Registry values?
I just switched from XP Pro to Vista Business. My XP had movie maker which I used a lot. Now I cannot find movie maker in Vista. Did I not load movie maker correctly or does it not come in business version?

Even by giving the dial-up number and other login info, I can't connect to internet. Vista and XP are on different local disk and I can contact you with XP. I'm not sure what the modem is exactly (broadband, WWIS, DSL, etc.), it's a phone line modem with a speed of 56 kbps.

So, the problem I have here is that Windows Vista does not find any DRM protected music files I have. I am a new Napster Flatrate To-Go user. I can download alot of albums, but of course they are DRM protected, which is not a problem for me. But what is an problem for me is, that any downloaded files won't be found by the index. The music files of Napster are stored in my music folder (C:Users...Music), so the indexer should find them. Any other music I had (non DRM protected files) can be found easily via the Startmenu, the search dialog and Windows Media Player. The DRM protected files can't be found, except than in Windows Media Player. I already deleted the old index-cache and created a new one, but that didn't help either. Anyone else with this problem? Or a solution maybe? Or is this a general "bug" in Windows Vista?

I cannot find it anywhere on my Vista system. Was it ever implemented? If not, it certainly should have been. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do a clean install on a newly built system but Vista can not see my SATA hard drive. I have a Seagate 7200 barracuda 320 GB SATA HD and a Giga-byte P35 Mobo. Not knowing if it was a Vista issue or a hardware issue, I put in a XP installation disk and XP could recognize the drive. I stopped the install and tried loading some drivers off of the disk from Gigabyte. Vista still can not see the hard drive, but now when I throw the XP install disk back in, it can not see the hard drive either.

I am running -Windows Vista Home Premium 64 which was preinstalled on the cpu
I want to -Dual boot between Vista64 and Windows XP32
So far -I have done everything to this machine from creating a virtual window in Vista64, to going into the command prompt from vista boot disk and running diskpart to clear hard drive.
I currently have -Two partitions on one disk. Primary 200GIG and Healthy 265GIG -Windows Vista Home Premium64 installed and running
The problems im having -every time try to boot from CD and run the windows xp setup, it is UNABLE to find ANY HARD DRIVES!
I have researched that
- I must have the disk partitioned
- Windows XP must be installed first
- I have to play with the boot.ini
- If i install vista32 it will be more successful
The errors I have gotten -STOP: 0x0000008E - i researched this and it said one option is to take out the excess RAM
I will be happy if - By the end of this weekend I can successfully run XP or both OS's in dual boot.
I need to go through all this trouble because - Digidesign has not written software for 64 bit proccessing yet. I need to make music.
i bought a western digital My book essentials 500GB external hard disk a few days before. instead of gaining direct access to the drive, i was prompt to install the driver software. however, vista couldn't find the software. the HD is supposed to be plug and play. what can i do here? the HD works with other computers. my newly bought MP3 player is also facing the same problem.
