When I first got my new Sony Vaio model VGN-NS30E, I installed Comodo Security Suite. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I wasn't happy with it and tried to uninstall it. I now run AVG free edition, and Windows firewall. I also now use Firefox browser, and am happy with my set up. I don't really like internet explorer, so don't use it. When I installed Comodo, the HopSurf Toolbar was bundled with it. I did my homework after the event, and found, ( online ) issues with HopSurf
Comodo removed Ask/IAC SafeSurf Toolbar by replacing it with HopSurf/IAC/Ask Toolbar - Donna's SecurityFlash. I have uninstalled Comodo/HopSurf, and when do a search cannot find it, but when I open ie, I get this...........
How do I create a new toolbar? How do I edit the Toolbar Command Buttons (Icons?)? How do I create and add an Autocorrect (AC) Command Button to an Excel Toolbar? I HATE the ribbons, period? I LOVED the nice, neat, useful, and tiny toolbars I created and edited in the 2003 programs and this 'RIBBON' thing is the most obnoxious thing ever! I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............
Can anyone help me with uninstalling Comodo completely? I have uninstalled using windows and everything seemed ok. However, using Security Center, Comodo is still showing as installed. Have tried using Revo Uninstaller and also a registry cleaned. Have also tried Scans with Spybot and Adware but it still sits there in an 'on' state. I have tried to reinstall Comodo but get the message that 'Comodo is already installed and would I like to uninstall now'.When I click ok to uninstall the box disappears but nothing else happens. So it appears that I am stuck with this firewall but there is no way to access it as the only reference to it is via Security Center. The next step is throwing the window......can someone please assist in this. Not too technically minded so worried about any remedies involving regedit or cmd !

After comodo notified me of available updates,i downloaded them, but then at the end the cfp.theme problem occured.I searched the comodo forum and I solved ( I had to run comodo under administrator mode) it but after that, windows no longer recognizes comodo firewall and the security center says that i must enable the windows firewall.
Been visiting the comodo forums after i installed their excellent firewall that is also 64 bit. Aparently they are developing newer antivirus software to replace their current thats nearing release (next month or so should see first open beta of version 3), & guess what, its also going to be free & 64 bit. If its anything like their firewall, im never paying for av again.
who use comodo firewall with media programs like dvd converters etc etc. Ive been trying to make a dvd of personal avi clips into a dvd, now the software i use it allok avi2dvd, however each time i convert the files which works fine, at the end of completion, the fireall pops up and basicly says its going to execute allok bla bla, it says if i use this application and trust it, then press allow, which ive done, ive also blocked it, anyway after that their is nooooo dvd files left at all, which normally it would create the dvd files for me where ive saved them to burn. is this a firewall issue? cause this is really annoying and ill rather not use comodo as a firewall if its going to do execute and delete the files ive just created...just makes no sence to me. iam lost
I'm a newbi on this board this is my first post. I just recently upgraded to a Windows Vista Home 64 bit. My old system was Windows xp. I found this board as I was trying to get the Norton security that came on my pc to uninstall. The info on this board is priceless. I was able to get rid of the Norton and have now installed AVAST. My question is should I also run COMODO firewall or just use the Vista firewall. And if I run the Comodo should I disarm the VF. Again many thanks on the Norton issue, I was pleased to find out that I was not the only one who could not uninstall that pos.
Attracted by the additional outbound protection offered, I decided to install Comodo. I seem to recall (but may be mistaken) that when I installed Comodo on an XP machine, Comodo automatically switched off the Windows firewall and Windows also recognised that Comodo was installed and had taken the place of the Windows firewall. Therefore I was surprised that after installing Comodo on my Vista machine that the Windows firewall was still on and when switched off still told me that I had no firewall. Is this correct behaviour or has my installation not gone correctly? Also, when I first log on I get a pop-up from Comodo telling me that svchost.exe is trying to access the internet - is that valid and what should my response be to set it permanently recognised as good?
I downloaded Comodo anti virus protection onto my vista homa basic laptop on recommendation of family but it proved to just be a big mess up and i swapped to another anti virus instead but It wont let me delete the folder after uninstalling it, I have tried turning user account control off and have also tried changing the ownership and even looked to see what permissions i do have, I have full control over the folder yet every time i try and delete it i just end up with the error note saying destination folder access denied, and that i do not have permissions to delete this file I don't know what to do I have tried everything I have found through forums too but nothing
I have a Dell Inspiron loaded with vista home premium which came with a very convenient top toolbar. My hard drive crashed so it was recently replace and windows was reinstalled. How do I get the toolbar back?
It had shortcuts to word processors, calculator, pictures, music movies, etc..

With IE 8 and Google Toolbar. I installed IE 8 for Vista 64 Bit. When I installed the Google Toolbar, it showed up at the installment, but then when I relaunched IE 8 Google toolbar was not there. It also was not in the "Add Ons". But was in my Programs. I uninstalled and reinstalled two more times and it will not show up in IE 8. I had MSN as my home page , so I had to change the home page to Google in order to have my mail. I have gmail. So what is wrong here?
I have had my new Dell Studio XPS for less than a week. I love it, it is tons faster than my previous computer with a WEI of 5.9. However, today I was wasting time playing Sid Meiers Railroads and the game crashed. After the crash the bar at the top of my computer screen was missing. It was like this tool/task bar(this one isn't specifically mine): It has Categories and the recycle bin in it. Can someone explain how I can get the toolbar back. I tried the only system restore point I had on my computer, but that didn't work.
Is there any way to build a toolbar on the desktop like we used to have in 2002? I really need this. I have a ton of shortcuts that I use all the time. They were very handy in the sidebar. I can't believe MS has not put this back in because I see a lot of people asking for this.
I have a custom toolbar in my Taskbar that points to a folder on my local system. I do not want the icons to appears to the right of the toolbar name instead I want a drop down list to appear.
I can do a ctrl+alt+delete and bring up the task manager and kill the process BUT my desktop has lost the task bar and starting orb. Moving the mouse top or bottom or to either side does not 'unhide' the toolbar so that I can access my USB drive with rkill.com (a process to kill this malware) on it. Have tried booting into Safe Mode and the viral program appears there also, but once again cannot access the Start Orb or Task bar. I have no knowledge of any 'DOS' commands should I be able to go to safe mode with cmd prompt. Using Vista Home Premium.
Some wonderful site recently visited (don't know which one) has added a nuisance toolbar just above the default one in my Vista Windows Mail. It inserted just under the File, Edit, View, Insert, etc bar and above the toolbar which includes Send, cut, copy, past, etc bar. how to eliminate this nuisance? Right clicking does not gime me any options.
I was just learning how to boot in a safe mode and now, the taskbar and the toolbar are transparent. Also, the background of every site is white. How do I set everything back to normal.
I have added a directory to the toolbar as you can see from image one. Now i can re-organise them such as in image 2, but as soon as i restart, the files sort to alphabetical. I've been using Vista since the public beta's and not experienced the problem until i just reinstalled last week.

It's not a huge problem, but i found it very annoying when i am working and need to bring up something quickly while the screen is filled with 100 windows.
i have been unable to look at certain aspects of my toolbar. everytime i pass over my clock, battery meter or network status bar and try to preview them, windows explorer shuts down and has to restart. ive run numerous system restores and they all have failed, as well as security sweeps and nothing seems to be able to find the problem.
I'm trying to rid Myself of mirar toolbar,and the pop up ads it keeps supplying me with.I also think it's slowing My computer down. I've tried googleing a solution but all refer to downloading a removal tool,(and paying for it,not sure about that) or using the add remove program option in control panel(which is not an option on vista). I'm at a loss,
Well it seems very simple but I kind stuck on this, so I need help to have my colors and appearnace back in Windows Vista Premium. For some reason the colors of the menu and the taskbar did change. To make it easy look at the attached screen shot of this.
I have had Vista about month now and I keep getting suggested sites poping up along my toolbar its driving me nuts! These sites are in some relation to what i'm viewing, wasnt there before so must be something i've pressed. Its nothing todo with my popups as there turned off.
For toolbars started in the Vista taskbar, how do you remove the Title? The option doesn't seem to exist any longer.

This removes the title description for your taskbar. If you know the programs on the taskbar by their icon and don't need to see the names of the programs, uncheck "Show Text" as well.
Does this no longer exist in Vista and that I can no longer reclaim the space?
On my desk window my lower toolbar is no longer accesable. The on with the clock, network e.d. in. Also the quick launch icons the minimized windows are no longer clickable. If I click on it I recieve the error sound. Only the windows main icon works on the lower left side. It is very irritating to need to open a window that is minimized via the taskmanager to activate the window. What's wrong with my toolbar and how can I restore it?
I have a question about the toolbar though. With previous versions of windows I could fill up the toolbar with open windows and just click on the one I wanted. Now in Vista it will only show me 2 open windows at a time in the tool bar. If I have 3 or more open I have to click on the up or down arrow to find them and then click on them. Is there any way to have more than 2 windows show on the toolbar. This would be for separate applications so the grouping option won't help me here.
I recently install the "Microsoft Office Live Toolbar" and now it keeps on appearing whenever I open any of the office suite applications. Is there a way to either:
a) Turn it off so it only appears when I want it.
or...
b) Uninstall it altogether. I've looked in the uninstall programs section of control panel and I don't see it.
