When i plug my headphones in i hear static, you can not notice it once the music is playing, but it gets really annoying really fast. I dont know what to do. I have my speakers hooked up to a Turtle Beach Montego DDL. I couldnt find any X64 bit drivers for this card, so i figured there had to be other drivers that had the same chipset......I was right. So i have different drivers for the card.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have solved some of my woes. I will do my best to describe the rest of them to you. What I am trying to do is reconnect my Xbox 360 to my PC. I had this working for three months(since I have had the 360), then, I had to do a clean install of Vista. Well, almost a clean install, I quess it is a re-install, because if left a lot of the stuff I already had, just cleaned out my email and such. Now, I can connect my 360, and the pc recognizes it when I am in WMP 11 and look at the media sharing. Here's the problem. I can either connect to Xbox Live or I can remove the network setting in the 360 and I can browse the files on my pc through the 360, but I can't do both like I could before. It's one or the other. I am using a Netopia 2240 dsl modem/router. I have not changed any settings in the router whatsoever.
After I did a reinstall however, I could not access some SSL pages or recieve email( I could send ok, just not recieve). I fixed this by rolling back the driver for my Network card. The problem between the 360 and my pc existes only after the reinstall. Heres something else, win I try and ping my router it times out. And, I cant access it through 192.168.1.1. When I use the cmd prompt and look at ip's, they are all static. Shouldn't I have dynamic? One last thing, when I click on my Broadband connection and click on details, next to dhcp, it says NO. However, on my LAN connection it says Yes??? PS- can someone tell me how to take a screen shot so I can post/better explain what I am doing.
downloaded 2 "important" updates to my vista system. now, can't keep my ip address static (TCP/IP v4). keeps returning to dynamic. restarted and did lots of 'diagnostics'.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo basically, I have a Sony Vaio with Windows Vista 32 bits. We send it off to my fathers company to get an anti-virus installed. When they gave it back, I tried to get wired internet but nothing. So I checked the LAN configuration and the static ip and DNS of the company had been left there (when before it was configured to be used with DHCP as I use at home). So I tried to change it by putting Get IP address automatically, nothing complicated. I restarted the computer, but the static IP stayed, as if it was stuck. Tried the same 3 times and nothing. I am the Admin of my computer, but it seems that the OS or something won't let me change the IP address.
I went to talk the technicians in the company but they couldn't resolve it. I'm kind of getting mad about this subject, I just want to use the internet in my laptop. After trying everything (even reseting the IP through cmd.exe, which worked because the static IP was erased, yet when viewing properties, the static IP option is still selected but with no specific IP address in the boxes) I can only think of uninstalling and reinstalling the network controller. I am just afraid that the driver is not embeded within the disk (because when I bought the computer, no drivers were given to me). Before doing anything rash and messing the computer even further,
I'll preface this with the fact I am only so knowledgeable about this IP stuff. I am all my computer challenged family has to rely on so I want to be able to see what happening on about three other computers in three different locations. I am a serious cheapskate so I tried some Shareware called "Anyplace control" worked great through the online account but slow. There is apparently a direct connection option but I need a static ip to make that happen. So keeping it as simplistic as possible for me how do I get my mother Vista laptop, my two daughters Win 7 laptops able to be remote tweaked from either my Vista laptop or XP desktop. I am not locked into that software it was just easiest at the time.

So I contacted the administrator, and he says I am IP banned from the site, and promptly blocks me. So I figure the best way to get around this was to change my IP Address. I've tried manually changing it, using tons of methods. I've even used the cmd method, but when I type ipconfig/release it gives me an error and says that "This action requires elevation" whatever the hell that means. I'm 13 and I am in no position to be calling ISP and asking them to change my IP address. So you guys are basically my last hope. How do I change my Static IP?

It really helped with a dialup connection - being able to see if the connection was active or not. In Vista, the modem icon is static and doesn't show anything other than the fact that there is an active connection. Does anyone know of a workaround to get an **activity** icon that works like the good old XP one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to connect a new Vista laptop to an old static IP4 network. The Vista firewall is blocking me. It is a public IP address (I'm not sure what that means), which apparently is the problem. My IP address starts with 207.191... Does that make sense to anyone? I need to know how to unblock this address or just take down the firewall all together. I'll only be connected to that network for a few hours a week, so temporarily removing the firewall wouldn't be too bad.

Now that I have an all Vista home network consisting of a laptop and a desktop both with Vista Home Premium I am running into trouble assigning these static IPs on the laptop. When I try to switch back I have to power down the motherboard to make it change back. Weird AAH! View 6 Replies View RelatedI just built myself a computer and put on vista ultimate 64bit, and everything worked great until i turned on the sound... it seems like 80% of the sound is coming from the subwoofer and only 20% is coming from the speakers. its so annoying and obnoxious! all i can hear is 'thump thump thump' its horrible. ive searched around for hours and i cant find any solution. everything audiowise was perfect just a day ago when i was runnign xp I'm not a huge audio person. my set up is 2 speakers and a subwoofer. the software that came with the motherboard is realtek HD audio manager

I have tried turning off sleep / hybrid sleep / hibernate, but the computer still goes into "sleep" of some kind. When it comes out of sleep, I can hear a whirling sound, which could be the harddrive starting up, but moments later it sounds like it spins down and stops, and then the whole computer freezes up, and I have to turn it off and then turn it back on in order to make it work again. I've tried to make it (using power options) so that the harddrive does not power down, but
that doesn't appear to do anything either, because the drive still turns off when the computer sleeps. Before this problem developed, I was having problems with the Media Center remote not working after sleep, and was also having problems with the usb ports, and the sound turning off.....................
Cannot recieve messages, I have an email with a large file attached that is stuck as though message is too large to recieve. I'm not getting any error messages, just not receiving email. Says messsage 27/166 trying to come in for the last 12 hours. How can I delete/cancel this email from coming in so I can receive my other emails that are backed up.

(Not a pop up online) After it was done with the update, it restarted my computer, and when it was done, I discovered that it had UN INTSALLED the speakers. The new software hadnt even run yet, so I doubt it had anything to do with that. When I click on the volume icon on my task bar, it says that there is "No Audio Output Device Installed"
View 9 Replies View Relatedso I've been trying to trouble shoot this for awhile...I've uninstalled and installed drivers, rolled back drivers....For some reason I am not getting any sound from the rear jacks (green to monitor) or from the headphone jack. System is a HPa6303w running vista home, using realtek HD Audio. My 'digital output' is set as my default playback, but when I used an RCA cord to 3.5m plug I still have no sound. I can't configure the speakers cause the system is not seeing them...is there any way to 'activate' the analog playback?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from XP x64 to Vista x64, and my speakers (nor headset and mic) no longer work correctly on this computer. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling,updating, and changing all the settings multiple times, but I couldn't get them to work correctly.
The only time I can get my speakers (and headset) to make any sound at all is by plugging the speakers into the "Center/Subwoofer Speaker Out" plug. However, they play only as the center(left) and subwoofer(right) then. (This is while the Speaker Configuration is set to "5.1 Speaker", and I only have 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer.)I can't seem to get any sound out of the "Front Speaker Out" (green plug).I'm using 2 left/right speakers that connect into a subwoofer, which uses only 1 plug into the computer.I was able to get both speakers and headset to work at the same time when using XP x64 and Windows7, but nothing works in Vista. (I cannot recall if I was using the "Front Speaker Out" plug when they were working, but I have tried all other plugs in Vista.
