I want to set a static ip and it works untill I reboot then local access but not internet. When I try to switch back I have to power down the motherboard to make it change back. Weird AAH! Its like the nic on the m2n32-sli deluxe never releases its memory untill I shut down the power supply manually.

So I contacted the administrator, and he says I am IP banned from the site, and promptly blocks me. So I figure the best way to get around this was to change my IP Address. I've tried manually changing it, using tons of methods. I've even used the cmd method, but when I type ipconfig/release it gives me an error and says that "This action requires elevation" whatever the hell that means. I'm 13 and I am in no position to be calling ISP and asking them to change my IP address. So you guys are basically my last hope. How do I change my Static IP?

I'm having some compatability issues with Turbocad and my vista premium home OS. whenever I try to save it crashes the program and says unhandled exception. access violation. i've tried the following.
disabled Data Execution Prevention.
disabled user acces control
i am running as an administrator
ive reinstalled it numerous times w/ firewall on and off
also it says that it needs a symols file for the binary codes to run debugger i am a machinist not a comp. guy and this laptop is brand new and was purchased just to run turbocad and quickbooks.
I have an ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe Series Wifi Edition motherboard, which is capable of running 8GB of RAM. In have a Phenom 9500 quad-core cpu, which is 64-bit. I have 4 DIMMS of KVR667D2N5/2G, which is the RAM the motherboard manufacturer says runs in the board at 8GB.
I run Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Sp1 and Windows XP Pro SP 2 as dual-booting Os'.
I cannot boot to the desktop with 4GB of RAM in, and have tried all the RAM DIMMS alone and in 4GB configurations of all which works. It is in continual reboot with 8GB installed.
I tried the KB929777 patch for 64-bit Vista, but it reported that it is not for this system.
ASUS claims that the master boot record is the problem, but VISTA always crashes before it will let me fix the master boot record, or reinstall Vista or anything.
I just bought a new laptop with vista home premium when trying to install Money Plus Deluxe it seems to install but when i try to open it says i need to run setup from the cd. i tried installing in my documents same problem. not sure what to do i'm running as the admin so that shouldn't be a problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSetting up a new PC here (eMachines H5270) and installed Zuma Deluxe. The game is playable but the motion becomes quite jerky whenever the on screen action becomes more intense. Also the mouse leaves droppings when Zuma's custom cursors option is enabled. The processor is a 2700Mhz Athlon and the graphics chipset is years newer than the ATI card in the PC this one replaces. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms with Zuma? Is there a way to fix this or am I seeing an incompatibility problem between this game and something in hardware?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have solved some of my woes. I will do my best to describe the rest of them to you. What I am trying to do is reconnect my Xbox 360 to my PC. I had this working for three months(since I have had the 360), then, I had to do a clean install of Vista. Well, almost a clean install, I quess it is a re-install, because if left a lot of the stuff I already had, just cleaned out my email and such. Now, I can connect my 360, and the pc recognizes it when I am in WMP 11 and look at the media sharing. Here's the problem. I can either connect to Xbox Live or I can remove the network setting in the 360 and I can browse the files on my pc through the 360, but I can't do both like I could before. It's one or the other. I am using a Netopia 2240 dsl modem/router. I have not changed any settings in the router whatsoever.
After I did a reinstall however, I could not access some SSL pages or recieve email( I could send ok, just not recieve). I fixed this by rolling back the driver for my Network card. The problem between the 360 and my pc existes only after the reinstall. Heres something else, win I try and ping my router it times out. And, I cant access it through 192.168.1.1. When I use the cmd prompt and look at ip's, they are all static. Shouldn't I have dynamic? One last thing, when I click on my Broadband connection and click on details, next to dhcp, it says NO. However, on my LAN connection it says Yes??? PS- can someone tell me how to take a screen shot so I can post/better explain what I am doing.
So basically, I have a Sony Vaio with Windows Vista 32 bits. We send it off to my fathers company to get an anti-virus installed. When they gave it back, I tried to get wired internet but nothing. So I checked the LAN configuration and the static ip and DNS of the company had been left there (when before it was configured to be used with DHCP as I use at home). So I tried to change it by putting Get IP address automatically, nothing complicated. I restarted the computer, but the static IP stayed, as if it was stuck. Tried the same 3 times and nothing. I am the Admin of my computer, but it seems that the OS or something won't let me change the IP address.
I went to talk the technicians in the company but they couldn't resolve it. I'm kind of getting mad about this subject, I just want to use the internet in my laptop. After trying everything (even reseting the IP through cmd.exe, which worked because the static IP was erased, yet when viewing properties, the static IP option is still selected but with no specific IP address in the boxes) I can only think of uninstalling and reinstalling the network controller. I am just afraid that the driver is not embeded within the disk (because when I bought the computer, no drivers were given to me). Before doing anything rash and messing the computer even further,
When i plug my headphones in i hear static, you can not notice it once the music is playing, but it gets really annoying really fast. I dont know what to do. I have my speakers hooked up to a Turtle Beach Montego DDL. I couldnt find any X64 bit drivers for this card, so i figured there had to be other drivers that had the same chipset......I was right. So i have different drivers for the card.

I am all my computer challenged family has to rely on so I want to be able to see what happening on about three other computers in three different locations. I am a serious cheapskate so I tried some Shareware called "Anyplace control" worked great through the online account but slow. There is apparently a direct connection option but I need a static ip to make that happen. So keeping it as simplistic as possible for me how do I get my mother Vista laptop, my two daughters Win 7 laptops able to be remote tweaked from either my Vista laptop or XP desktop. I am not locked into that software it was just easiest at the time.

It really helped with a dialup connection - being able to see if the connection was active or not. In Vista, the modem icon is static and doesn't show anything other than the fact that there is an active connection. Does anyone know of a workaround to get an **activity** icon that works like the good old XP one?

It is a public IP address (I'm not sure what that means), which apparently is the problem. My IP address starts with 207.191... Does that make sense to anyone? I need to know how to unblock this address or just take down the firewall all together. I'll only be connected to that network for a few hours a week, so temporarily removing the firewall wouldn't be too bad.

Now that I have an all Vista home network consisting of a laptop and a desktop both with Vista Home Premium I am running into trouble assigning these static IPs on the laptop. The primary connection is the wireless and i use the wired connection to game or to transfer files across the network. i thought that this is because i got too many email address, thus i deleted most of it and now only got 700 email address inside my address book, i just can not understand that when outlook express can take more than 3000 email address book, but windows mail can not take about 700 email address book. I asked and was told that only under 64 bit windows, will the available memory be 4GB. When I upgraded to windows 7, I chosed 64 bit, but the available memory shown in the system is still 3.3 GB. Why is this and is there a way to make the full 4GB available? It's possible that my video card is using RAM instead of its own RAM. If I install a video card with its own RAM, will the full 4GB be available?
