When I download pics from my camera, they go to windows photo gallery, in addition to Panasonic photofun studio. I want to make photofun my default, but it is not available to set that way. And when I deleted the pics in windows photo gallery, they were also deleted in photofun. I don't need them in 2 places.

So I browse find word, click on it and it goes back to the previous place but word still not there. Same thing happens when i go into the set associations section.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am getting ready to use Brink's tutorial on setting a scheduled System Restore point each day and I noted that he said that it was standard for Vista to make a Restore point each day at start up and one at midnight. Last time I looked I did not have these in my list of points, so I checked to see if the startup and midnight points were indeed enabled to be created. They were. But when I went to look at System Restore points available I had none of the startup or midnight points available. Further checking showed that 2 days ago when I installed Nero 9, it made 40 restore points in the 17 minutes it took to install! Why would it do that? Does it make any sense? I made one before I installed it, and okay, I could see it might make one itself before the install, but ... 40??!
So, am I correct in assuming that because of these 40 restore points the system is now not able to save the StartUp and Midnight points because I also manually have made one or two per day over the past few days, so it keeps the manual ones and the Nero ones and throws out the System-created ones because there is not enough room and they are the lower priority? Or what is going on here? I did not change my default system restore storage size or anything, it is set at default settings.
My system restore fails every time I attempt it. This has happened the last 3 times I had a need to attempt restore. (Three attempts separated by months in time, about different issues.) This time, I am thinking something may be wrong with my system restore function.
In this case, it is simply a matter of trying to roll back a browser update.
I saw a whole list of available restore points, and I went to the second one back - from only a few days ago. The restore failed.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, OEM from Gateway Laptop about 1.5 yrs old. I allow most updates.
To prepare for a dual boot installation (Vista / Ubuntu) I had to allocate space on my C-drive using Vista's 'Disk Management' and 'Shrink Volume' features. Unfortunately, in the process of making the allocation, I mistakenly allocated 40 MB instead of 40 GB. Went back into 'Shrink Volume' to correct the allocation but it apparently cannot increase space. Also tried 'Extend Volume', no luck there either (or maybe I just don't understand how it works). For what it's worth, here's my current C-drive allocations.
144.81 GB NTFS
40.00 MB Unallocated (reserved for Ubuntu) (this is what should have been 40GB)
75.29 GB Primary Partition
3.24 GB Primary Partition
9.49 GB NTFS
I should also mention that I already have Ubuntu installed, so this is actually a re-installation to solve a connection problem I'm having with Ubuntu.
how to change the default setting of the Recent Items on the Start menu from alphabetical to date order in Vista Home Premium. I did it on my desktop a year ago- I seem to recall it was a Registry change- but on my laptop I'm stuck with the useless alphabetical order.

when i highlight the second picture i would like to include, the first one i highlighted becomes un-highlighted.
I have a bunch of pics in my "My Pictures" folder that, I've copied from the net and then changed the name so that I can find the pic I want to see quickly. But when I look in that folder later I not only have the files with the names I want but, also the same pictures with their original names. I've deleted them several times, and each time they return. I've mass deleted, and deleted them one by one (Some 80 pics). I'm really beginning to wonder if I shouldn't just dump the laptop for good. I have Picasa and Quicktime if that would make a difference. I have really come to hate all forms of Windows for various reasons, but am reluctant to spend the time and the money to move to a different OS.

View 7 Replies View RelatedHave been using wmail successfully. Works fine now for std email. Suddenly Picasa cannot send pics which it did before. Setting defaults does not show Windows Mail as a choice. The ony choice shown is "use my current E mail program. Windows Mail (news) is the only choice shown in side window. I don't know if this is the Picasa problem but I know that Windows Mail was once shown as the default email program. How do I get it back as a choice? Regular email does work fine rcv and send. I have set "eml" as an association.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to upload a picture to, for example, facebook, or I try to attach a picture from my pictures file to an email, I start browsing, get to my pictures, and three seconds later, Internet Explorer stops working, telling me it has encountered a problem (it never tells me what) and then restarts. I have lost entire emails this way, plus I can never browse my pictures when I am online! It might happen to other documents (like Word) as well, I have never tried.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt has happened occasionally, but with no predictability that I can see. I change settings in control pannel / power settings / balanced to 10 min for monitor and never for computer. I check the "advanced settings" to assure that they are the same. I use balanced because that seems to be the default in the registry. I do not see the actual settings in the registry. Every so often Vista resets the settings back to 20 min for the monitor. I have looked at but it speaks of "System Settings page" - I don't know what that is. In any case, my settings have no effect and I can't get the monitor to dependably go to standby after 10 minutes.

If I click an icon on my desktop default programs pops up and I have to find the right program to open the programs with. I was reading some other posts and saw one that suggested that I download PC Medkit, I did it and it did not work. So now I'm out $40 and my computer still isn't functioning properly. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that I have a legal copy of goldmine 5.7 that I installedon this new laptop.In the installation there was a screen to type in my username and passord to access goldmine in the future....and I left them both blank.Now i cannot get into my goldmine program and when I uninstall it and reinstall it does not give me the opportunity to pick a new username and password. Vista has stored some default username.
I need to change the default ICS IP address 192.168.0.1 when sharing my Internet connection with other machines as I have an IP conflict with the cellular modem that I cannot change. I had done so and it still doesnt work correctly. Today I open a document and went to print it. My default was on an Ebson printer but this morning the default had changed all by itself to, get this, a copy of on of my HP printers. I look deeper and all of my HP printers have make copies of themself called (copy 1) I did not do this and I did not change my default printer.
