I am having ongoing resolution problems when I install my video card drivers. BEFORE I install them, my screen resolution is 1280x1024 which is what it should be. AFTER I install the nVidia drivers, the maximum allowd resolution drops to 1024x768. Note: I have an SLI configuration. Also, This is the maximum allowed resolution. It is too low for my monitor.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a problem with my resolution, I cant choose higher than 1024x768. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, cleaned all drivers both for my screen and video card, nothing works. When I have uninstalled my grapich card i can choose higher res, but when I reinstall it, it will set back to 1024x768.
I have looked all over but cant find anyone with the same problem..........
About once a week my screen resolution seems to be changing--I think on its own. I do have small kids that sometimes touch the keyboard, so that might have something to do with it, but I don't think so. I say its the resolution, but I am not even sure of that. When it happens the icons get bigger--and webpages font sizes become too big for a page. I have tried manually adjusting the screen resolution, but that doesn't seem to be the answer--it doesn't put it back the way it was before. To fix the problem, I have been restoring my system to previous dates---but it always seems to re-occur.

These are 2 SS. 1st is what my screen looks like. Although I must say it looks alot worse on my acctual screen. Second Is what I figure the problem is due to them simply not working. NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS < Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
I have an older Dell PC and have re-installed Windows XP on it three times. The OS seems to work fine each time but it gives me no way to adjust the resolution. I go into adjust screen resolution and it wont let me adjust anything, the slide bar, in advanced, and under settings. I can't change anything even trying to load the software for the monitor fails?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my PC to Vista from XP and purchased a new monitor, capable of supporting 1440 x 900 resolution. Problem is that the screen resolution cannot be changed and is fixed at 640 x 480. I've tried via the settings in the control panel but I cannot drag the mouse on the slider bar from low to high resolution.
The online help suggests I may have an inadequate video card, Does anyone know how I can check this? What card do I have now and what do I need? Or is there another solution?
I've been trying to increase the full-screen resolution of 'visualize' without much success. I've openned up the the 64-bit version of WMP and changed the resolution in Tools - Plug-ins - Options - Visualization - Battery - Properties, but even in WMP that doesn't work and obviously doesn't work in VMC. Has anyone had an success in changing the resolution?

I've dragged the window up as far as it will go and dropped the Taskbar down out of the way, but I still cannot reach the buttons to change the resolution. What key strokes or other actions do need to do to change the resolution?

I recently reformatted my harddrive with gparted. Created a primary partition (nfts) and installed vista home premium 32 bit on it. On the remaining unallocated space I installed Ubuntu 8.10. Before I did this my display in vista was beautiful, 1920x1200 resolution. Ever since I reinstalled vista and reinstalled my nvidia driver it lists the current resolution as 1920x1200, but I can definitely tell that it is not the same resolution as before. I'm very frustrated because my monitor/graphics card is definitely not running at 1920x1200 resolution, but it says that it is under my display settings.
I am running Windows Home Premimum 64 bit. I started having numerous problems a couple of weeks ago, including: Screen resolution was changed, Clear Type and User Account Control were disabled, computer would stop responding temporarily of lock up completely, blue screen at boot up or computer would boot to recovery console, monitor would be on at boot up but would not come out of sleep mode. Finally last night the key board and mouse (both wired) stopped working. I changed the mouse and keyboard to ones that used usb connectors and was able to boot up again, and this keyboard and mouse work, but still having performance issues (hanging, 3D screen saver runs jerky. I tried to run Trend Micro Housecall but could not get to run. I tried to update the Nvidia drivers several times and my computer would shut down before the installtion was completed everytime. I would get a blue screen with the notice that the computer had been shut down to protect it from damage. Norton 360 found nothing. I have since uninstalled Norton. Ran AVG, nothing.

Just purchased the captioned LCD display without HDMI cable supplied, only VGA and DVI cables (I'll call the shop selling this display tomorrow) The max resolution can be achieved is; 1400 x 1050 But the display can support 1920 x 1080 resolution. However I can't find the video driver for update on; ASUSTeK Computer Inc. on Fedora 12 (Linux) running on another HD in the same box can support; 1920 x 1080 60Hz
View 8 Replies View RelatedBeing on a 17" CRT 1024 x 768 resolution for a long time, would it be alright to move over to a 13.3" screen with 1280 x 800 resolution? Yes I've been told by many of the designers that it is not good at all but I think the comments weren't exactly right since they are already working on large monitors with high resolution support. So what say you? Of course I'm no professional in designing, currently still studying and learning.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Ultimate RC 32 bit that I'm using in dual-boot mode with Windows XP Professional SP2. I am using an old ViewSonic monitor and I don't have the drivers. Windows XP is apparently using a generic driver which lets me set any screen resolution I like and I usually use 1024x768. Windows 7 has a generic driver which will only allow 800x600. Does anyone know if the Windows XP video driver will work in Windows 7 and, if so, the best way to copy and install it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my screen resolution set to 1920x1200, native is set to this, nvidia control panel confirms it, yet every time I restart after a shutdown or an update, my screen resets to some random low resolution such as 1020x768 or 800x600 (the worst of the 2, it set the colors all funky). Every time after it does this, I have to go back and change the resolution back, and move all of my icons back to their places. I have tried everything to get rid of this problem, even such as to change the registry defaults for resolution. I have base video off, and all other solutions people seem to have do not work. I have had lots of experiences with computers, but this one has stumped me. If I missed a default or it is one of those things that just is so obvious that you overlook it

When I changed it back, the Send/Receive window that shows incoming and outgoing mail popped up far to the left of the Windows Mail window, instead of right above it where it has always been. I re-started the computer, but that did not fix the problem. I want to get the Send/Receive window to pop up where it used to--it is currently nconvenient for viewing.

I just bought a new computer (HP Elite M9060N) with vista on it and a Geforce 8500GTS NVIDIA card (factory installed). When I try to extend my desktop onto my tv (using Dualview) it doesn't fill the entire screen. It leaves a black ring around the outside. I've tried adjusting the resolution, but it doesn't work. In addition to the ring, the resolution on the tv looks horrible. I have the refresh rate maxed out and tried flip flopping which monitor is my primary but just can't seem to get it to work. I'm also using a Samsung LCD 20" monitor and connecting my extra monitor with an HDMI cable.........

My M/Board has so many O/C tweeks that it's got me lost. Never thought I'd have too much controll over my BIOS, Anyway, the nForce 680i M/B has SLI O/C in the BIOS and when I disable it and try to squeeze a little more O/C out of my RAM it drops the 5.6 to 5.3! I guess I should have purchased RAM with 1333 FSB, then maybe I'd get a 5.9... Oh, if it helps, my RAM Timmings: 5,5,5,15 2T 2.3V If I set the Voltage at 2.1 the rating goes down to 5.4 I'm at a loss and I don't know why I care
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing frequent problems with my Internet Connection. My computer is connected to the Internet through a Motorola Surfboard modem from Charter Communications. My computer will randomly disconnect from the Internet around every hour. The modem still says that it is connected as will my computer if I go to the Network and Sharing Center. Even though the computer says that it is connected, no program can access the Internet. Anytime I open a Firefox it will usually say "Cannot Find Server" and Internet Explorer will just say that it cannot display the webpage. Sometimes I will get popups from Windows (I believe, though it could be FireFox) trying to connect to a broadband connection. It never works, though, and it asks for a password and username. I do not have one, though. I have not set up any sort of password for accessing any Internet connection on my computer. When I first upgraded computers all I had to do was plug in the cable modem and Vista automatically connected. It was perfect and I had no issues for quite a while. The connection dropped on day and Charter walked me through a process which reset my cable modem and got me back online. Ever since then I have been having this issue where my computer randomly loses it's connection. I was not able to get online for about an hour today. I did a System Restore to see if anyone had possibly done something, but the problem presisted. I came back later and now everything is running relatively fine!? It's like the computer has a mind of it's own.

I have random drops from Internet, the only way to fix it is by rebooting the system. i tried disconecting the modem, restarting the modem, logging off from my user, nothing works. Only rebooting. I have a USB modem ( i know itīs not the best but this never ever happened on XP) and iīm using Vista ultimate. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a production network that I'm test Windows Vista x64 Enterprise on. I'm at my witts end with this problem: I add the Vista PC to the Windows domain. The computer performs the tasks and then tells me it needs to reboot. Upon rebooting it immeadiately drops itself from Active Directory (Windows 2003 SP2 R2 based domain).
Oddly, the computer account in active directory is still there. The Vista client drops itself, but the server side thinks everything is fine. What the heck is causing this? There are no issues with IPv4 connectivity. (We don't use IPv6...) The server shows that the PC and the users are connecting to the domain securely, and without issues (pass security audits). The Vista Client (Enterprise x64) just drops itself from Active Directory.
When I try to start GoW the game immediately drops to the taskbar! My mouse is frozen. I have a workaround but I would rather fix it right.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been having an intermittent range of internet connection problems with my computer running vista home premium over adsl. Initially my connection would drop out over night and in the early hours of the morning and if I browsed for too long /opened too many sites simultaneously my connection would cease to work. The internet would appear to be still connected in the MS icon in the tray (a globe showed over the two monitors). When I asked vista to check the connection/repair it told me that it was a connection with the ISP.
After a few frustrating weeks dealing with the ISP they admitted a fault and said they would fix it. My connection no longer drops out (I never lose the globe in the tray) but the problem where excessive www browsing stops the browser working. I have tried IE, Chrome, I have disabled my firewall, reset the network adapter, bought a new router, reset the old and new router but the problem persists.
Have a Dell Vostro laptop with Windows 7 Professional. I did download and install Windows Live Mail. I use Verizon Mobile Broadband (USB). Whenever I start to use Mail, my Broadband connection disconnects, after a short time? When I use the Internet Browser, I have no problems. Has anyone seen this before and are there any fixes?

Internet Lags and Drops; and it seemed the only solution was to Reboot my
Computer to get an Active Internet connection. I applied many of the
Hotfixes; and used all of the Suggestions but nothing seemed to work. The
one thing that did seem to make sense though was the Tech advice here and
their that would say it was a Hardware Issue with Routers, etc.
So this is what I did; I went out and Bought the D-Link DIR-655 which is
Certified to work with Vista. It arrived last week; hooked it up and since
then I have not had 1 Internet Drop; or have I lost my Home Network. Now my
Computer can stay on; go to sleep; and when it wakes I have an immediate
Internet Connection. On the Upside the speeds are much faster as well
instead of your basic 100mbps; im getting 300mbps. So it was well worth the
Upgrade to me. It actually made sense that to take advantage of some of the
new options with Vista Networking that you would need a New Certified Vista
Router. Im actually very glad I did it; no more headaches and reboots. Hope
this helps anyone who was going thru the same Issues I was.
Oh and by the way just so you know here is what I have going on with my
Network: My New PC; 2 Mac Books; 1 older PC; 1 Xbox; 1 PS3; and 1 Wii; and
the VOIP.
I also used to use the Hawking Booster on my Network to help with VOIP lag
and arranging packets; but I also elminate that now because this new Router
arranges the packets and no Lag on the VOIP.
