Multiple Monitors Resolution: Doesn't Fill Entire Screen

Mar 23, 2008

I have a Samsung LCD 720P HDTV 32" that I have been using as a secondary monitor. I just bought a new computer (HP Elite M9060N) with vista on it and a Geforce 8500GTS NVIDIA card (factory installed). When I try to extend my desktop onto my tv (using Dualview) it doesn't fill the entire screen. It leaves a black ring around the outside. I've tried adjusting the resolution, but it doesn't work. In addition to the ring, the resolution on the tv looks horrible. I have the refresh rate maxed out and tried flip flopping which monitor is my primary but just can't seem to get it to work. I'm also using a Samsung LCD 20" monitor and connecting my extra monitor with an HDMI cable.........

Extended Desktop To Multiple Monitors When Screen Saver

Apr 23, 2008

I have a Vista Ultimate laptop connected to two monitors. I can extend my desktop to the second monitor just fine. But when I come back from a meeting, and my screen saver has been on, my desktop is no longer extended. Both monitors show the display for monitor 1.

The setting is still correct under Display settings and I can fix the issue by changing Monitor 2 to be the main monitor and then switching it back to Monitor 1 being the main monitor.

Dual Monitors: Can Edit Resolution In 1 But Not 2

Mar 27, 2008

My graphic card is NVIDA GeForce 7600 GT WDDM. One old LCD monitor which is non PnP and one new 24" acer LCD monitor which is a PnP monitor. Both monitors displayed the boot up information from the BIOS when booting up. The old monitor screen became blank when the Windows "welcome" message appeared. The Windows system recoginsed two monitors presented one PnP and one non PnP but can't recongised it under the display setup monitor. It only display 1 multi monitor on NVIDA GeForce 7600 GT and 2 general non PnP monitor on NVIDA GeForce 7600 GT. I can edit the resolution in 1 but not 2. I tried to swap the cable slots between the monitors and the new one always became the main monitor.

Multiple Monitors: Does Not Detect Second Monitor

Mar 23, 2008

I have recently purchased a new quad-core, Vista PC with dual NVidia cards. I am trying to set up multiple monitors, but the second monitor does not seem to be recognized - although the display under control panel sees two monitors. When I connect everything and reboot, the second monitor stays in power save mode. I am guessing that the PC is not really "seeing" the second monitor and the two in the display is a mirror, but am unsure on how to verify this. Is there a way to force it to detect the new hardware? Windows Vista helps and support says it should auto-detect, but if it does not, I cannot find a work around to force it to see this new monitor.

Display Background Image Across Multiple Monitors

Mar 18, 2007

I am a multi-monitor Windows Vista user ever since I got hooked on multiple monitor at work. Two monitors make doing multiple tasks at one so much easier.  If I am working on an article or trying to be creative in Photoshop, everything is just much easier because I always have multiple applications open at once.  One feature that I wish I had as soon as I purchased my two monitors and hooked them up was the ability to stretch my wallpaper across both monitors.  I wanted to use a very large and wide photo as my background that would like cool displayed across both monitors. Something like the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco or a cityscape.   After installing and uninstalling Ultra Mon, a third-party shareware utility that I heard is great for multi-monitors, I wanted a easier solution and not something that I had to run in the background.  A few weeks go by until I accidentally stumble across how to natively stretch your wallpaper across multiple monitors.   Follow these steps in to display a large image across multiple monitors: ...

Movie Maker Doesn't Work With Multiple Projects

Mar 26, 2008

I am trying to import multiple projects into the Windows Movie Maker. I see in the help where I can import multiple clips, but that doesn't seem to work with multiple projects. I have these projects (3 of them) made at different times, that I want to import into the Movie Maker so I can do the editing. If I edit one, then try to import the second it REPLACES the 1st. I have tried dragging and dropping on the timeline, but again it just replaces whats there.

Is there a way to have all three projects import into the timeline at the same time? Now I can import the first, then open the 2nd and 3rd projects and drag and drop on thetimeline, but thats allot more work this way, And when it's all done, there will pro bably be 2-3 more projects. If the Movie Maker is not capable of this, can you recommend a commercial (or other) program that will import multiple projects?

Freezing: The Entire Screen Stops Moving, Cannot Move My Mouse, All Sound Stops Working

Aug 22, 2008

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced these annoying freezes that occur randomly in Vista 64. It can happen while I'm playing a game, it can happen while I'm browsing firefox etc. I freeze up about 4 times a day and the only solution is a hard restart.

It is beyond me, I have the video card drivers up to snuff, all updates are installed, virus scanners/spyware scanners, video card isn't overheating, CPU idles at 33 loads at 42. I'll describe the problem a little better other than to just say it's freezing. When the freeze occurs, the entire screen stops moving, I cannot move my mouse, all sound stops working, and if there was a sound playing, it will get mutilated into a nasty buzz.

Screen Resolution Changing

Mar 23, 2008

About once a week my screen resolution seems to be changing--I think on its own. I do have small kids that sometimes touch the keyboard, so that might have something to do with it, but I don't think so. I say its the resolution, but I am not even sure of that. When it happens the icons get bigger--and webpages font sizes become too big for a page. I have tried manually adjusting the screen resolution, but that doesn't seem to be the answer--it doesn't put it back the way it was before. To fix the problem, I have been restoring my system to previous dates---but it always seems to re-occur.

1920x1200 Screen Resolution Under Display Setting

Jan 26, 2009

System Specs:
Dell XPS M1710 -

80gb HDD
Intel Core Duo T2600 (2.16 GHz)
2 gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX 512 MB graphics card
WUXGA Truelife Glossy screen

I recently reformatted my harddrive with gparted. Created a primary partition (nfts) and installed vista home premium 32 bit on it. On the remaining unallocated space I installed Ubuntu 8.10. Before I did this my display in vista was beautiful, 1920x1200 resolution. Ever since I reinstalled vista and reinstalled my nvidia driver it lists the current resolution as 1920x1200, but I can definitely tell that it is not the same resolution as before. I'm very frustrated because my monitor/graphics card is definitely not running at 1920x1200 resolution, but it says that it is under my display settings.

Removing Trojans, Screen Resolution Was Changed

Sep 14, 2009

I am running Windows Home Premimum 64 bit. I started having numerous problems a couple of weeks ago, including: Screen resolution was changed, Clear Type and User Account Control were disabled, computer would stop responding temporarily of lock up completely, blue screen at boot up or computer would boot to recovery console, monitor would be on at boot up but would not come out of sleep mode. Finally last night the key board and mouse (both wired) stopped working. I changed the mouse and keyboard to ones that used usb connectors and was able to boot up again, and this keyboard and mouse work, but still having performance issues (hanging, 3D screen saver runs jerky. I tried to run Trend Micro Housecall but could not get to run. I tried to update the Nvidia drivers several times and my computer would shut down before the installtion was completed everytime. I would get a blue screen with the notice that the computer had been shut down to protect it from damage. Norton 360 found nothing. I have since uninstalled Norton. Ran AVG, nothing.

Finally Kaspersky online deep scan found these:

C:ProgramFiles(X86)Online ServiceseBayWizLink.exe Trojan.Win32Agent.cwkw
C:ProgramFiles(X86)Online ServicesESPwizlink.exe Trojan.Win32Agent.cwkw
C:ProgramFiles(X86)Online ServicesquickenfcWizLink.exe
Trojan.Win32Agent.cwkw

But did not offer a way to remove them.

Move Over To 13.3" Screen With 1280 X 800 Resolution?

Jun 9, 2008

Being on a 17" CRT 1024 x 768 resolution for a long time, would it be alright to move over to a 13.3" screen with 1280 x 800 resolution? Yes I've been told by many of the designers that it is not good at all but I think the comments weren't exactly right since they are already working on large monitors with high resolution support. So what say you? Of course I'm no professional in designing, currently still studying and learning.

Resolution Changing At Login Screen After Boot

May 10, 2009

I have my screen resolution set to 1920x1200, native is set to this, nvidia control panel confirms it, yet every time I restart after a shutdown or an update, my screen resets to some random low resolution such as 1020x768 or 800x600 (the worst of the 2, it set the colors all funky). Every time after it does this, I have to go back and change the resolution back, and move all of my icons back to their places. I have tried everything to get rid of this problem, even such as to change the registry defaults for resolution. I have base video off, and all other solutions people seem to have do not work. I have had lots of experiences with computers, but this one has stumped me. If I missed a default or it is one of those things that just is so obvious that you overlook it
