What is weird, (I mean weird for me) is that for the first time first time I am getting more and more this kind of errors. Couple of times they were just several, but now their number has grown up to ~400 (!) They all are the same, except the digits between c00 and .mat change. I know that antiviruss sometimes deletes some files, that causes this kind of problem, but know it's just out of control. What should I do?

I've been to the Start Menu properties window, and under Privacy, I only have a single entry, "Store and display a list of recently opened programs". The corresponding entry for documents is missing. Furthermore, although I can check the one-and-only tick-box, the setting doesn't hold, and it's unchecked again next time I open Properties. I have a Recent Items folder (with the correct icon), deep in my User folder, but it's empty. I tried restoring the desktop.ini file from an early disk image, but although the restore appears to work according to the image program, the folder remains stubbornly empty. It's as though some system setting registry value has been set prohibiting the use or display of this Recent Items folder.

The structure looks like this:

MiscStatus has a single subkey called 1
It (ie 1 ) cannot be opened, permission is denied. If I could delete 1, I could then delete the entire thing up to CLSID.
I have tried running regedit.exe as Administrator but that does not help. I am running Vista 64 SP2
I would like to Add all exe program entries to the "Open With" list in the right-click context menu wihtout using "Choose defualt programs".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI stupidly tried installing the NV Sys Tools from nVidia's website as shown in the pic below as I meet the system requirments.
It didn't work so uninstalled but an annoying shortcut leading nowhere is still installed in my Control Panel Classic View (see pic #2) and I have tried getting rid of it using a combination of System Restore & regedit to no avail.
Went here and tried all the suggestions but the last one: Listed under "Registry Export Not Inserting Into Registry" dated 9/12/08. I need help with this - have tried all the suggestions here with the same results as James. I got as far as "Open Regedit.exe, from the File menu, choose Import and select the REG association fix." and cannot figure out how to do this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy little problem is that I used to have a Vista/XP dual boot since I didn't need XP anymore I just deleted the partition and then extended the original Vista partition. The thing is, the entry for Windows XP on the bootloader is still there and I want to remove it because I want to sell this PC and the person most likely to buy it is not very computer savvy and he might get scared when he sees a black and white screen asking him if he wants to start Vista or XP and then press enter! I don't know how to do this on Windows, I have done it on Linux and it's very easy but obviously in Windows is completely different.

View 4 Replies View Related"The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry". I get this error every time I try to install or update just about anything. I had this same problem a while back and couldn't find any answers so I called DELL and paid for them to fix it because this is my business computer and I needed to install something right away. I just chalked it up to the price I have to pay for my LACK of computer skills. It worked fine for several months but now it's happening again and I don't want to pay for it again. I would like to try the quoted fix but I have no idea what "that user control THINGY" is or how to turn it off. BTW, my OS is Vista 32bit and I have McAfee Security Center installed.

The day before yesterday I reset my POP3 password, and ever since then I have been receiving multiple copies of every email. I have three separate user accounts (let's call them Tom, Dick & Harry), with rules set up to put Tom's mail in a folder called 'Tom's Mail', etc. This has always worked just fine. But after I reset the password, I started getting three copies of each email. They still went to the correct folder, but I got three. As an experiment, I added a fourth user account (Bill), and now I get FOUR copies of every email, still going to the correct folders.

Im using vista x64 and even after I have made the new account and can see it under "user accounts" in control panel it wont show up on the screen when I press "switch user" or "Log off"
How do i get the second account to show up?
EDIT: I just deleted and recreated the account and its fine now.
I've recently built a new PC, and this is the first time I've gone for vista. Was previously an XP32 / Ubuntu fan so this is new to me.
I have a rather strange issue that I can't pinpoint the cause on.
After some time (maybe a few hours), firefox will stop working. It doesn't crash, but it just won't load any pages, it just "hangs". The same thing will happen for IE. If i close firefox the window closes, but its still in task manager.
I can't kill the process, well I can click kill, but it doesnt go. I can't load up firefox cos its already running (apparently), and I can't shut the system down, presumably because of this firefox process still running.
I get the same with uTorrent, after about an hour it stops responding and prevents me from shutting down the system.
At the moment I have to just switch the PC off at the mains, and I'm not sure this is a healthy practice.
I was running Avast, Zonealarm. but I have since uninstalled those. I still have the same issue, even if i disable the windows firewall etc.
Any ideas? I've tried googling but it just returns threads suggesting to uninstall antivirus/firewalls
I connect my laptop (Thinkpad X60S on Vista Business) to a WRT54G linksys wireless router and let's say my SSID is HOME.
My problem is this: When I try to connect Vista sees 3 and sometimes 4 networks of the same SSID, e.g. HOME, HOME (2), HOME (3) and HOME (4). It is the same network. Why is this happening and how do I solve it?
Is it possible to enable multiple desktops in Vista.? Also can I have seperate desktop backgrounds on each monitor (2 or more).? I have no problem doing this with XP.
