When I start my laptop, I am getting the message "The procedure entry point GetShortPathName coulkd not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" for Internet browser exe, yahoo messengar exe and many other programs. My laptop was working fine till yesterday night. I have no idea what is the cause of this problem and how could I resolve it.
View 4 RepliesI HAD JUST RECOVERD FROM A VISTA ERROR WITH NEW VISTA INSTALLED (myuncle re-installed) AND HE LEFT AND I MESSED UP MY PC AGAIN ALL I HAVEIS A VISTA REOVERY CD NO re-install POSSIBLE. I PUT IN WINDOWS 7 THEME PLUS EXTRAS AND I RESTART AND SAYS "LoginUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found,The procedure entry point GetPhysicallyInstalledSystemMemory could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
WHEN I GO THRU IT CLICK OK I GO TO pw SCREEN i put in pw AND THEN GET IT AGAIN AND I GET BLACkSCREEN w/ MOUSE NOTHIN ELSE THERE HAS BEEN CASES OF THIS ON THE INTERNET.

View 8 Replies View Relatedunder XP I always deleted the $uninstall. folders under c:windows after a couple of reboots to save some disk space. I don't seem to find those folders under Vista. I've googled, but no results. I made a custom light version of Vista via vLite, and after installing all of my soft (and that's not that many) there's still 17GB taken on my OS partition. Not that my 500GB harddrive is that cramped for the moment, but it's a matter of principle.

When I first installed Vista, I came across continuous problems. It's been so long, so I cannot remember what exactly the problems were (something along the lines of getting stuck during Windows updating I believe). Eventually I had help from a fellow online who gave me a specific procedure in installing Vista, something like 1) install Vista from CD, 2) download a service pack onto a USB port and update your computer from that 3) turn off automatic update, etc etc. Being foolish, I did not save the step by step procedure, and now am in need of it again.

I am on a dial-up internet connection and don't want to download SP1 twice more! Both of these PC's have the same Intel DG965WH m-board, same DVD multi-drives, same Core2 Duo processors, same 3 GB's of DDR2 800 Mhz RAM, same nVidia 7600 GT GPU's, same IDT onboard audio. All of the above are listed on Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility site as Vista Certified.

View 8 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has been locked out of his Dell laptop and cannot find the password for the single account that it has. The laptop has Vista Ultimate installed on it and I am unable to activate the hidden administrator's account to get into Vista. Other investigations using other software shows only 2 accounts, Administrator and Guest but not the actual user single account that shows up onto the login screen. ( I have managed to blank out the Administrator and Guest passwords ) I have a standard Vista Recovery Disk , but I am unable to either repair or re-install Vista from the Dell hidden partition , and the only alternative is to install a unused retail version of Vista Home Premium that my friend has been given awhile ago. I have 2 questions
1) Is the Vista Ultimate user account passwords located in a different place as compared to other versions of Vista?
2) if I install this retail version of Home Premium on the Dell laptop, will I have problems with the propriety hardware that is on the Dell laptop and would I need to find all the Dell drivers for the laptop?
Can someone give me a blow by blow method of deleting registry entries. I am stuck and tried all "possible" combinations of editing permissions but nothing seems to work. What is the secret formula to this?
The structure looks like this:

MiscStatus has a single subkey called 1
It (ie 1 ) cannot be opened, permission is denied. If I could delete 1, I could then delete the entire thing up to CLSID.
I have tried running regedit.exe as Administrator but that does not help. I am running Vista 64 SP2
I would like to Add all exe program entries to the "Open With" list in the right-click context menu wihtout using "Choose defualt programs".

Couple of times they were just several, but now their number has grown up to ~400 (!) They all are the same, except the digits between c00 and .mat change. I know that antiviruss sometimes deletes some files, that causes this kind of problem, but know it's just out of control. What should I do?

It didn't work so uninstalled but an annoying shortcut leading nowhere is still installed in my Control Panel Classic View (see pic #2) and I have tried getting rid of it using a combination of System Restore & regedit to no avail.
Went here and tried all the suggestions but the last one: Listed under "Registry Export Not Inserting Into Registry" dated 9/12/08. I need help with this - have tried all the suggestions here with the same results as James. I got as far as "Open Regedit.exe, from the File menu, choose Import and select the REG association fix." and cannot figure out how to do this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy little problem is that I used to have a Vista/XP dual boot since I didn't need XP anymore I just deleted the partition and then extended the original Vista partition. The thing is, the entry for Windows XP on the bootloader is still there and I want to remove it because I want to sell this PC and the person most likely to buy it is not very computer savvy and he might get scared when he sees a black and white screen asking him if he wants to start Vista or XP and then press enter! I don't know how to do this on Windows, I have done it on Linux and it's very easy but obviously in Windows is completely different.

View 4 Replies View Related"The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry". I get this error every time I try to install or update just about anything. I had this same problem a while back and couldn't find any answers so I called DELL and paid for them to fix it because this is my business computer and I needed to install something right away. I just chalked it up to the price I have to pay for my LACK of computer skills. It worked fine for several months but now it's happening again and I don't want to pay for it again. I would like to try the quoted fix but I have no idea what "that user control THINGY" is or how to turn it off. BTW, my OS is Vista 32bit and I have McAfee Security Center installed.
