i am clearning my new menu entry using registry, but i forgot how to delete the windows live call entry in the new menu? really no idea where is the entry for this in the registry.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy little problem is that I used to have a Vista/XP dual boot since I didn't need XP anymore I just deleted the partition and then extended the original Vista partition. The thing is, the entry for Windows XP on the bootloader is still there and I want to remove it because I want to sell this PC and the person most likely to buy it is not very computer savvy and he might get scared when he sees a black and white screen asking him if he wants to start Vista or XP and then press enter! I don't know how to do this on Windows, I have done it on Linux and it's very easy but obviously in Windows is completely different.

I've been to the Start Menu properties window, and under Privacy, I only have a single entry, "Store and display a list of recently opened programs". The corresponding entry for documents is missing. Furthermore, although I can check the one-and-only tick-box, the setting doesn't hold, and it's unchecked again next time I open Properties. I have a Recent Items folder (with the correct icon), deep in my User folder, but it's empty. I tried restoring the desktop.ini file from an early disk image, but although the restore appears to work according to the image program, the folder remains stubbornly empty. It's as though some system setting registry value has been set prohibiting the use or display of this Recent Items folder.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI created batchfiles to change default OS and reboot. I set the bootloader delay to 0, but the menu still flashes for my eyes for about a sec. I would like to switch OS using the batch files (yes, they use bcdedit.exe) and I would not like to see the OS selection menu. Is there a way to tweak the bootmgr to not show the menu?:sarc:

View 6 Replies View RelatedI uninstalled a program through the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. This seemed to remove all signs of the application from the C:Program Files folder, but I was left with the application with sub folders on the Start Menu/All Programs. Since I didn't need this anymore, I tried right clicking on it and selected Delete - this resulted in a dialog 'You need to confirm this operation - Continue/Skip/Cancel' - I selected Continue - the dialog box disappears but nothing else happens - the menu entries remained.
Looking through various Vista newsgroups, I found a 'Take Ownership' registry thing - I installed this. Retrying the above and after 'Taking Ownership' of the start menu entry (entries), has exactly the same results - the references to the application still remain.
Next I tried search for the application name and this led me to the folder 'ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms' and I tried Delete there both without then with the Take Ownership - still the same dialog which when clicking Continue results in no action...........
I'm running Vista Home Premium, and I'm trying to reorganize the programs in my start menu (UAC is off for ease of moving files/folders; I am administrator). I've come across a folder that I can't move or delete. Whenever I try to move it, I get an error that it cannot locate the file (The error message says that the file is no longer located in C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms). Additionally, a right-click menu does not appear for this folder (but it does for everything else in the Start Menu). When I go to C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms that folder does appear. However, I cannot delete it or move it. Trying to do so results in a similar "unable to locate folder" message as before. Yet, I can still open the folder, which is empty (hence why I want to delete it).

a) Windows Update- Windows update is failing to load any new updates available, after selecting "check for updates" i am responded with an immediate error; it states. Windows could not search for new updates. Error(s) found: Code 80040154. Get help I have googled my error code but not many responses. So thats my first concern
b)Live Messenger 8.1- Secondly, i was shocked to find my msn wasn't working (works on web based version, so cant be wrong login details) first the typing was slow then i get the error code: 800401f3 denying me login. I searched up the code and found i had to type up some things in cmd...........

I now have a Windows Live import box stuck on my Desktop that I cannot get rid of and I cannot get into my Windows Mail anymore. I don't play online but I am hoping a friend of mine will have interest and we can start doing Co-op missions together, this will be the beginning of my Online Experience (if Co-Op can be called Online! ).
I have Vista X64 on a Gateway FX system with an nvidia 8800 series video card. It will not play MOH Airborne or the new Call Of Duty. It usually gets just past the first video run and then freezes with repeating sound and the picture freezes with squiggly horizontal lines covering the entire monitor over the screen shot. It's not a lock up I have ever seen before and with Windows, unfortunately I've seen too many. I have tried all the usual fixes, patches, lowest settings etc. I have the newest nvidia drivers. Could it be the Realtek on board audio? Its supposed to be HD Audio. Tried to get their newest drivers, most of the download sites I've tried haven't worked.

When I tried to uninstall them, the normal Installshield window popped up, but when it arrived here: the window simply closed and the program was still installed??
I have three computers, 1 old machine running XPSP3, 1 New machine running Vista Unltimate and One Notebook running vista ultimate (Wireless Connection).
Prob 1. I have a shared printer connected to the XP desktop and can access it from the Vista notebook but not from the Vista Desktop.
Prob 2. I can not get Call of Duty WaW to connect by LAN With the Vista Desktop and it does not attract other players when hosting a public game. When using the Vista notebook I can play LAN with the XP Desktop and the Vista Notebook.
The problem seems to be with the Vista Desktop, something i can't see. The Xp Desktop and Vista Desktop are connected through a Belkin Wireless G Router ver 6002. File Sharing and network discovery are turned on, on both vista machines. The call of duty games are all patched to the same and latest version.
how i can get the sound back on ingame? The problem only conserns Call Of Duty: World at war. Menu message states: To change speaker config you need to change the default playback device in your windows sound settings, and restart the game.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a NVIDIA 9500GT with a VGA (blue cable) monitor. When I play Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer, I'll be playing for around 10-45 minutes, and the game will freeze. The pixels on my monitor will go a strange green, purple and other colours. After that, I'll have to manually push the reset button to reboot the computer. Also, with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, sometimes (after around 15-20 minutes of playing) I'll fast travel, or open a door (ie load another area) and it will load. After the load screen is over, the game will freeze and get the strange pixels like above......

Since i got my vixtax64 machine i haven't been able to get Wolfenstein 3D to run Or call if Duty 2. There is no error message for Wolf 3D but for Call of Duty 2 it complains about something with the DirectX.
