Suddenly out of no where a pop up box appears in the middle of all incoming E-mail "LIVE WINDOWS TALK" and I cannot remove it. Said box blocks all messages....how can I get this out of my life?
I am unable to connect my new wireless lappy to my local (Talk Talk broadband) connection I use for my desktop. Is Vista wireless compatible with Talk Talk broadband? Doesn't seem to be aware of that connection... Also where do I obtain key 'security key or passphrase'
No matter how many times I uncheck it from the start up in msconfig, it seems to find a way to re-check itself. Any suggestions on how to make it stay OFF!?
i am clearning my new menu entry using registry, but i forgot how to delete the windows live call entry in the new menu? really no idea where is the entry for this in the registry.
how to to remove/hide the Windows Live Messenger Download from the Vista start menu? I understand that the Window Live Messenger can be disabled using the GPOs settings, just wondering whether the Windows Live Messenger Download can be remove/hide from the start menu using GPOs setting.

I'm trying to be as brief as I can...I just built myself a new Vista Ultimate with SP1 system to take the place of my previous entertainment system, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. In my home network, the Entertainment System box is my gateway to the internet, via a dial-up connection. I'm in an area where I can't get DSL or cable. I've successfully used ICS on 3 different Windows builds over the years, from Win98 to WinME to WinXP, all setup on the WAN port of routers. This effectively isolates the Windows box running ICS from the other two computers I run on the LAN. My WAN IP range is thus controlled by the DHCP service built into ICS, and I'm free to use anothe IP range on my LAN instead of 192.168.0.x that ICS assigns. There is only this system with it's dial-up connection on the WAN side; the system is essentially behaving like a slow DSL modem.
Here's the problem: my brand new Vista Ultimate entertainment system will not talk reliably to any of the 3 routers I've tried, on EITHER LAN OR WAN! 2 of the 3 routers I have used with my previous XP-based entertainment system, and they behave just fine. What is it about ICS in Vista that is preventing me from even accessing the setup for my routers? I've tried turning off Windows firewall, disabling IPv6 and Network Discovery, etc. until I'm blue in the face, but nothiing helps. Even if I connect Vista to the LAN side and set proper static IP to reach router configuration, I'm denied! I bought a new Belkin wireless N router today, thinking it HAS to be a compatibility issue, but even this "Vista ready" router will NOT let me even configure it using the Vista OS. I sure hope someone can give me some answers that help me understand. I hate to think I might have to put my XP Media Center box back in the dial-up sharing position just to get my internet connection back to my other computers again....
i'm using Vista Ultimate version and i'm having all sorts of problems with windows update, Windows live messenger 8.1 and my sidebar.
a) Windows Update- Windows update is failing to load any new updates available, after selecting "check for updates" i am responded with an immediate error; it states. Windows could not search for new updates. Error(s) found: Code 80040154. Get help I have googled my error code but not many responses. So thats my first concern
b)Live Messenger 8.1- Secondly, i was shocked to find my msn wasn't working (works on web based version, so cant be wrong login details) first the typing was slow then i get the error code: 800401f3 denying me login. I searched up the code and found i had to type up some things in cmd...........
I had a problem with my Windows Mail, all of the sudden I could not get my mail to show up in the inbox so I signed up for Windows Live Mail to see if I could just export everything to it but it did not work. I now have a Windows Live import box stuck on my Desktop that I cannot get rid of and I cannot get into my Windows Mail anymore. The windows live is working well but I just want to get to my old e-mails and my contacts , is this possible?
I have Windows Mail on my Vista machine. I did a clean install of Windows 7, and I now see that Windows Mail is not included. I must down from the Windows Live collection of 'Live' applications.
when I pressed the download button, I saw the file was named wlsetup-web.exe. Does this mean that to install Mail, I will first be installing the framework for installing any other Live applications I may want in the future? That is, is this like installing only Word from the Office suite?
i have a hewlett packard computer thahas vista home edition in the motherboard. and windows live keeps opening itself over and over and over sometimes it tries to open 5 copies of itself at once. and i have done several spyware scans with several different pograms including norton, adaware, spybot, mcaffe and windows defender. i and spyware free on my hard drive yet this progran will not leave me alone!
if i play a game.. it closes out me gaming window every 3 seconds some times demading my attention if i am surfuing the internet it will over ride my keyboard and make itself the formost window. if i close the program out completley it restarts itself and will try to run 5 copies of itself at once.............
Does anyone know if there is a way and if so how to have Windows Live Mail open by default to Newsgroups? I don't use it for Mail. I just use it for these newsgroups. Every time I open it, I have to click on Newsgroups. I would like to be able to open Windows Live Mail and have it directly open to Newsgroups.
I can't seem to figure out how to set up Windows Mail for my windows live account. What information do I need too set it up for my email account. I have found some server info but it told me the server didn't exist. the info i have is:
Windows Mail is so buggy I am beginning to feel I shall be forced to use Windows Live Mail, which I dislike imtensely. Almost wonder if that is what MS want and therefore dont fix WM. In Windows Live Mail, is there any way of sizing or moving the list of email accounts which dominates the whole of the left hand column? I have many accounts and having them take up so much space is just awful. It's the huge account headers that cause the problem - really bad design. Also, how does one get buttons for the common functions onto the menu bar? Or is this impossible and yet another bad design flaw? Why on earth don't MS provide OE for Vista? There was nothing wrong with it and the demand for it seems enormous.
Is Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail the same program. If different what is the advantage of Windows Live Mail. What is the Windows Live and what is its advantage.
Using Vista home premium with MSN Mail thur MSN Premium Subscription from Qwest. I have been receiving error messages that I can not use the old mail and that I will have to convert to a POP3 Protocol for Vista.
How do I sucessfuly transfer and convert all my existing email folders? I do not want to change my Email Address or Destroy my History.
I am using windows live and need to change my password. I know how to do it but when i go to properties and servers and change it, it doesn't work. I still can only log in with the old password. Someone else has access to my emails so just locking my computer is not an option because they can access my emails from their computer. So annoying! Outlook express was so much better than live mail.
My Vista Ultimate laptop's CPU temperature sits normally at around 45C but now whenever I run Windows Live Mail it will shoot up over 90C and then forcibly shut the machine down! No other program has this effect and in all other respects things are running normally.
What could be causing this? How can I fix it? I have had the motherboard replaced, the heat sinks and the graphics card and I still have the problem. The machine has been cleared of all dust and has plenty of free space around it for ventilation. It has only started happening recently and, as I said, it is only caused by Windows Live Mail.

my windows live messenger stopped working.. i uninstalled it from my program list... i deleted every single file because uninstalling it did not delete anything... i used zapmessenger... but still when i open the installer for windows live it says that it stopped working.. and i cant delete the windows live folder...
I'm beginning to encounter a real problem with my Windows Live Mail [Hotmail] account. I am referring to the 'online' display for Live Mail, as opposed to the web-based version [requires sign-on]. This displayed version;
If I click on to the Live Mail icon in the Quick Launch tray, the 'timer' symbol appears briefly......then nothing.
I have been able to restore some function by going to Control Panel>Programs and Features>Windows Live Essentials, and carrying out a Repair of Windows Live Features. As a last resort, I've also carried out a couple of instances of System Restore. I realise that this latter action is rather drastic, but I cannot think of any other alternative.
Just a thought though, is there any danger of losing all my Hotmail Accounts [I have two] Folders and Messages, should I decide to Uninstall, then Reinstall Windows Live Mail?
Solution
After earlier editing this post for the first time, I continued to look for a solution in Vista Forums, and eventually found it in Brink's post on Windows Live Suite Downloads, here;
Windows Live Suite Downloads
It was here that I noticed that the Version of Live Mail that I was using [14.0.8050.1202], was different to the updated Version mentioned in Brink's post [14.0.8064.0206].
Initially, I tried to do the update using my Firefox 3.0.12 browser, but soon realised that it was more appropriate to do the Windows Live Mail update using Internet Explorer 8 as the browser, and by downloading the full list given for the Windows Live Suite. I have yet to check, but this action [the full download] may have also resolved an ongoing 'bug' I have in Windows Live Photo Gallery.
Incidentally, prior to this I had done a check of Windows Update, and it reported that there were no Updates outstanding.
To confirm that the update was successful, this is the latest Version of Live Mail now installed in my system;
I'm running Vista Home Premium with all the latest Windows Updates. I've been reading how Windows Live Mail (WLM) is an advanced version of WM so I finally decided to see if I could download and install it. Below is the link that I used to download WLM. I actually got to that link by Googling WLM and was taken to the site below. My dilemma is that I think I wound up signing up for Windows Live Hotmail so that I really can't tell if I've got WLM or not. Sorry to be so dense. I'm not even sure if these are one in the same. Yikes! Can anyone tell me if the `Mail' program I downloaded ((I had a choice to download other components (like Photo Gallery, etc.)) but only chose WLM). Do I now have is WLM or is it just a hotmail account?
I made myself the owner and gave myself full control but it is still saying i need permission. I am trying to delete the Windows Live Messenger 9 files so that i can install the latest version.
I just don't understand how to set up my windows live mail, for it asks me for (pop 3) incoming and( smtp) for out going mail. What do I put there, can someone walk me through it?
