In Photo folders, when you click on 'Tag this photo', a list of options (which one has previously typed in, either correctly or not!) appears; How do you delete or alter this list of options? The normal delete procedure has no effect. Will the list become endless?
When I open a folder and select Details I always get 'Tags', 'Album', 'Rating', '' etc. I right click the toolbar and remove all of these because all I want is the file name and the size. I then open the same folder again and they're all there again. How I can I permanently set this to just the name and size?
I have about a dozen tags (some nested) that I have been trying to delete. I have tried numerous work-arounds including renaming them then deleting. They seem to delete but when I close the photo gallery then open it again, they haven't been deleted (renamed, or even de-nested depending on what I try) Any that I have added lately DO delete, which is real confusing. I have been trying for about a month now, and want to restart from scratch. I own the computer w/admin rights (home premium 32bit)
I have probably several thousand graphics (that I use for digital scrapbooking) that I've collected and carefully indexed using Windows Photo Gallery. I run Vista Home Premium. Anyway, it just lost most of my tags, AGAIN! This time is the worst because I've put many hours into it. Everything seems to be running smoothly for a long time and then all the sudden it all crashes. What happens to the tags.
I have a bunch of loose mp3s (i.e. not the entire albums, just a few tracks from particular albums) grouped into folders based on genre. They have blank album tags. How can I prevent WMP11 from assigning album tags to these mp3 and downloading album art. I have every possible check box involved in media updating unchecked. Among my 20 or so genre folders, WMP only seems to modify the files in a few of the folders. The artist and title tags are correct so it looks like WMP is trying to add missing information. Is there a registry hack that essentially turns off the ability of WMP to do any file modification? I've tried deleting the database and rescanning the library. My only option right now is to simply not start WMP.
I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit. It has recently started going ding from time to time for no apparent reason. There is no dialog that pops up, and I haven't found any activity that alters the frequency of occurence, however the occurances are extremely erratic on one occasion there were several so close together they overlapped, I might get two or more in a five minute period or none for hours. I think they are becoming more frequent, but that could just be that I notice them more. Rebooting has no effect. AVG doesn't find anything.
I have found nothing that tells me why it is doing it - there are no entries in the system events that correspond to the dings. The only thing I have been able to establish is that taskeng.exe does access the file "C:WindowsMediaWindows Ding.wav" at the same time. This instance of taskeng is running under the logged in user credentials. Looking in Task Scheduler the task status doesn't change after a ding - indicating that an existing task, or the engine itself, is responsible. The list of running tasks shows the following MsCtfMonitor(Hidden, runs at user logon) SystemSoundService (runs at user logon)SystemTask (runs at system start)TMM (runs at user logon)UserTask (runs at user logon)
The last entry for these under history is "task started", except for SystemTask, and UserTask, which every 8 hours are rerun so show additional start and stop entries. The only errors are that UserTask fails to stop, and is restarted, when the system is shutting down, and SystemStart fails when the system starts due to a lack of a network connection, but does start shortly thereafter.ra.com/mail/
I want to write my own login program. So that I can force the user to supply additional passwords in order to login to the system. Do you know if this is possible. I have seen this in the omni program for using fingerprints as passwords.
I'm looking to reformat my hard drive. My knowledge of computers is very basic at best, so please bear with me. When I first installed Vista, I came across continuous problems. It's been so long, so I cannot remember what exactly the problems were (something along the lines of getting stuck during Windows updating I believe). Eventually I had help from a fellow online who gave me a specific procedure in installing Vista, something like 1) install Vista from CD, 2) download a service pack onto a USB port and update your computer from that 3) turn off automatic update, etc etc. Being foolish, I did not save the step by step procedure, and now am in need of it again.
I have seen many comments on the net about a problem when clicking on hyperlinks in Outlook email or tables in Word, a message comes up "The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" I have admin rights and have tried all sorts to find out why this is happening without success.
When I start my laptop, I am getting the message "The procedure entry point GetShortPathName coulkd not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" for Internet browser exe, yahoo messengar exe and many other programs. My laptop was working fine till yesterday night. I have no idea what is the cause of this problem and how could I resolve it.
I've been using Firefox as my default browser and until today all the Favorites and links opened in Firefox. But for some reason IE now fires up and loads the website when I click on a link or favorite. Favorites used to have Firefox icon next to them but these have now changed to IE icon. I have tried "Make Firefox your default browser" in it options but this has no effect. I don't want to use IE if it can be helped but don't know what to do to go back to how things were.
I have new computer, but about two week after purchase this problem started. The screen freezes with a Yellow and white checkard effect, then goes black. The computer is still running but not the screen. The only thing to do it hold the on off button on the tower and reboot. This happened a few times, and I was going to contact my supplier. Then it stopped for about two weeks. But it has just happened again?
I recently updated my main Vista Ultimate PC with SP1 without problems but have 2 more PC's with Vista Home Premium full retail O.S. I would like to format the hard drives in each while installing Vista and wondered if I needed to install the latest Intel motherboard drivers/software before installing SP1 from a purchased stand alone disk or if I would be better off to just install Vista and then SP1 with it's built-in Intel drivers, then update them later if needed?
I am on a dial-up internet connection and don't want to download SP1 twice more! Both of these PC's have the same Intel DG965WH m-board, same DVD multi-drives, same Core2 Duo processors, same 3 GB's of DDR2 800 Mhz RAM, same nVidia 7600 GT GPU's, same IDT onboard audio. All of the above are listed on Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility site as Vista Certified.

For all you people who have been looking for a way to get Vista's glass effect in Firefox, look no further. Here is an extension for Firefox 3 that will do it. (supports 32bit and 64bit FF versions) Information Here: [Ext] Glasser 1.0.16 (BETA) - Add Vista Glass to Firefox • mozillaZine Forums. Menubar Addon: This Addon hides the File/Edit/View/tools menu using the ALT key to show it temporarily.
Is there an "official" procedure to slipstream Vista SP2? I've seen various 3-party apps to do this, and even leaked downloads, but I'd rather do it the legitimate way if possible.
never asked about this before.you know when you go to a web site and there are photos.jpg and in the square.there are no photos.just little red blocks with a red x in the upper left hand corner.
I haven't had a problem with people being able to open attachments but as of today I am finding that people are having trouble opening my photo attachments. I am not getting an error message. They seem to be sending fine.
i have a toshiba equium 32 bit i think.the problem is when i go to email a photo its asking for some sort of server or pop address im not very experienced with computers
I recently "upgraded" from XP to Xista Home Premium. Big mistake! I have used my camera to take group photos for years and I used the camera's recording function as a means to identify the people in the photos. It worked great! Now, with Vista, I am unable to get any sound whatsoever. The visual indicator moves across the screen as though there was sound there.
I have tried "open with" different alternatives with no results. I can get sound by kind of going in through another program (Roxio) so I know the sound is there. Vista has cost me a significant amount in that I could not use some programs plus I had to buy a new printer.
I have an older computer, running XP, and I used Microsoft Digital Library, to keep track of about 2K images. I now have a new computer, running Vista, and have used the "transfer files " (using a USB) option, on Vista, to import all the photos, to the new HD. I also installed the old Microsoft Digital Image Suite (including the "libr ary"), on the new Vista=A0HD. Some of the photo files transferred just fine - dates taken, labels, etc.; however, a bunch of them transferred with totally incorrect dates taken, an d missing, or no labels. Needless to say, to fix this mess, on an individual photo file basis, is go ing to take forever. (I did change a few of the dates taken, and added labe ls, using the Photo Gallery, on Vista, and it did work, but there are tons of them, still wrong.)
why my photos pixelate when I zoom into them, they are okay for a few zoom clicks, but then they begin to pixelate, the problem seems to be the same on Photo shop, Picaso and my other programs, but its a little bit better on Office Picture Manager (which I still have on a trial basis) the same pictures were perfectly okay on my old computer and I could zoom right into them without pixelation, my old computer is a far lower spec than my Sony vio so I expected the photo facilities to be as good or better on the Sony. The odd thing is that the photos look perfect when the screen saver slide show enlarges them, no pixelation at all!
Whenever I print a photo (borderless) to my HP2610, either the photo does not print completely, or the print job just disappears. I have the latest drivers, and my XP systems work perfectly.
When I try to do this it says it is going to take around 7 hours and nothing else happens..I know it shouldn't be doing this and that I am doing everything correctly as it used to work fine. However I recently had to reinstall vista on my laptop and don't know if this has caused a change which will prevent photos burning now! I am using CD-R discs and my drive is compatible with DVD discs and CD-R and CD-RW so I'm not going wrong here! All the discs I am using are new and therefore blank. Also I'm not a computer whizz in the slightest so any explanations have to be fairly simple!
My wife wants to know how to attach pictures that she has in our computer to an email. We have a Dell 530 with Windows home vista, and yahoo is our homepage.
My old computer has Windows XP. My new one has Windows Vista Home Premium x32.
When I scanned photos with XP on my HP1200 printer/scanner in Preview I could enlarge the photos. With Vista can't seem do that. Am I missing something here? I can scan in Paint or in Windows Photo Gallery, but in neither can I enlarge the photo.
