View 5 RepliesI keep getting this error message in any condition even after I have just turned on my HP G70-258US laptop; Running Vista Home Premium, SP1, Pentium(R) DC CPU T4200 @2.00GHz, 4GB RAM, 64 bit OS. Additionally, it doesn't seem to matter which program (IE, Word, games, Excel, etc) and I have not sent any print jobs to my wireless printer. I'm using IE7 which came preinstalled. I did upgrade to IE8 and hated it, so went back to IE7.
The error message pops up in an "Interactive services dialog detection" and displays "A program can't display a message on your desktop". Program Details: "(Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Program Path:

I HAD JUST RECOVERD FROM A VISTA ERROR WITH NEW VISTA INSTALLED (myuncle re-installed) AND HE LEFT AND I MESSED UP MY PC AGAIN ALL I HAVEIS A VISTA REOVERY CD NO re-install POSSIBLE. I PUT IN WINDOWS 7 THEME PLUS EXTRAS AND I RESTART AND SAYS "LoginUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found,The procedure entry point GetPhysicallyInstalledSystemMemory could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
WHEN I GO THRU IT CLICK OK I GO TO pw SCREEN i put in pw AND THEN GET IT AGAIN AND I GET BLACkSCREEN w/ MOUSE NOTHIN ELSE THERE HAS BEEN CASES OF THIS ON THE INTERNET.

I finally checked and I have it on the list of installed updates a dozen times--but it still keeps appearing on my task bar asking to be installed. It's like a spell gone wrong. View 5 Replies View RelatedBefore installing Vista, I tought of making a backup on a second internal hard disk which a bought and installed on the original XP professional machine, I found myself to be very smart doing this. Unfortunatly now that Vista is installed on this machine the disk is not accessible. disk manager says "dynamic disk status invalid"? What can/should I do to gain control over this disk again? I can convert it to a standard disk (only option available in disk manager) beause then I will loos the information it contains.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWell after reading up on Dynamic Drives (vs. Basic Drives) I thought I would check into changing mine. Well I don't seem to have the choice. If I right click on the drive while in Drive Management, I don't have the choice to change the drive type to Dynamic. I looked at the help file and it says you can't do that with a SCSI drive. Well I checked mine and the system reports my drive as a SCSI drive despite it being a standard SATA drive. Any ideas about how this happens? It's a Baracuda 500GB drive (can't remember the make right now, I'm blanking on it).

However they will all quite happily file share thru shared folders, just cannot media share. Each does not show the other in the 'allow this device' list in Windows Media Player. I have trawled around the internet extensivly but not been able to find a solution. I have tried cutting internet, leaving the lan on and killing all local firewalls...to no avail.
If I right click and use the 'Open With' option Media player will display my
tif files, as well as Photo Gallery, but they will not go into the library.
If I rename the file from .tif to .jpg it will load into the library and
display the file fine. The files are tif not jpg. I would think I shouldn't
have to rename the file to get this to work. I want to use Media Center and
if there not in the library they won't be in Media Center.
On both my Windows 2000 Pro system, and on my XP Home edition, there is an icon library under C: system32progman.exe
On my Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, I cannot find that collection of icons. I can find a nice collection at C:system32shell32.dll but it does not contain the specific icons I'm seeking.
Are there other icon libraries "hidden" in Vista which I can access and then look for my favorite icons?

It works fine in xp, but it is dynamic in disk management and i have to activate it everytime in disk management i connect it When i connect it to my vista based laptop computer (dell m1330) it will read as usb device connected, i can find it on disk management as "dynamic" (not foreign) but i cannot activate it. The only options it gives when i right click are: convert to basic disk ( i think its that or "format drive"), options or help. It (ie 1 ) cannot be opened, permission is denied. If I could delete 1, I could then delete the entire thing up to CLSID.
I have tried running regedit.exe as Administrator but that does not help. I am running Vista 64 SP2

It didn't work so uninstalled but an annoying shortcut leading nowhere is still installed in my Control Panel Classic View (see pic #2) and I have tried getting rid of it using a combination of System Restore & regedit to no avail.
Went here and tried all the suggestions but the last one: Listed under "Registry Export Not Inserting Into Registry" dated 9/12/08. I need help with this - have tried all the suggestions here with the same results as James. I got as far as "Open Regedit.exe, from the File menu, choose Import and select the REG association fix." and cannot figure out how to do this.
