View 5 RepliesMost of us have pretty large iTunes libraries and our iTunes libraries take up a lot of hard drive space. The size of these libraries presents some challenges when you're trying to back up your computer or transfer iTunes library to a new computer. After all, you spent all that time importing your CDs once ? you don't want to do it again. There are a few ways to make you transfer iTunes library easier. Here are some ideas for you:
1. USE IPOD COPY OR IPOD BACKUP SOFTWARE One of the easiest ways to transfer iTunes library is by use software to copy the contents of your iPod to a computer. ......
whenever i download an .exe program or .msi installer vista shows: iTunes installer for example, but occurs with all downloaded files. However programs i already had on my hdd install fine. I have not yet had time to test a 64 bit native app to see if it installs fine, but all the programs i try and fail to run once downloaded are on the compatibility list.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my old XP machine I could go into the "sound" option, select recording options and check the "stereo mix" box, then play a song in Windows Media Player and record in Roxio or another sound recording application. This was a useful way to convert song files from one format to another (for example, from wmf to mp3, or from some proprietary iTunes or Rhapsody format to mp3). This option isn't available on my new Gateway running Windows Vista. The new sound menu has "Recording options" and "Playback options". Under "Recording options" it only has Microphone, Aux and Line In. None of these work for recording from the computer. Is this a limitation of my machine, or of Vista? Is there a way around this problem? How do I record from the sound card in Vista?

However they will all quite happily file share thru shared folders, just cannot media share. Each does not show the other in the 'allow this device' list in Windows Media Player. I have trawled around the internet extensivly but not been able to find a solution. I have tried cutting internet, leaving the lan on and killing all local firewalls...to no avail.
If I right click and use the 'Open With' option Media player will display my
tif files, as well as Photo Gallery, but they will not go into the library.
If I rename the file from .tif to .jpg it will load into the library and
display the file fine. The files are tif not jpg. I would think I shouldn't
have to rename the file to get this to work. I want to use Media Center and
if there not in the library they won't be in Media Center.
On both my Windows 2000 Pro system, and on my XP Home edition, there is an icon library under C: system32progman.exe
On my Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, I cannot find that collection of icons. I can find a nice collection at C:system32shell32.dll but it does not contain the specific icons I'm seeking.
Are there other icon libraries "hidden" in Vista which I can access and then look for my favorite icons?

I'm gonna post this here because there is no Win7 usenet group (yet). Plain and simple: library search doesn't work for me at all. I've done the steps exactly to the tutorial: add ONE folder with subfolders (and I kept it to one tree for now) Then I tried searching, even for most primitive combinations like c*.* or c* but absolutely no search results. Does library search happen to be still broken in current public beta? (7000)

While authorizing your computer to play your purchased songs iTunes will say everything was successful but you will still not be able to play your songs. Why? Because iTunes is being bad and trying to write to a part of the registry that a normal user does not have access to.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to load and use itunes because of a DEP message that pops up on screen shutting down the program.
I have done the following:
*uninstalled the programs itunes and quicktime
*uninstalled the programs completely using Crogram files - the additional way of uninstalling.
* reinstalled/uninstalled both programs about 4 times
* reinstalled quicktime as a stand alone program
* used Windows installer clean up
I can't turn DEP off by selecting itunes and putting into the marked exception box because an error message tells me that itunes MUST operate with DEP. It will not drag it into the box.
I reinstalled vista and upon completion I found all my microsoft mail contacts and itunes library were gone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Home Premium 64 Bit SP2 and cannot install iTunes.
Today I downloaded the newest version from Apple's web site. Installation proceeds normally for awhile then I get the error below (it appears in box labeled " iTunes + QuickTime".
Could not open key:

I navigated to the key (substituting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInstallerUserDataS-1-5-18 for UNKNOWN above) and found 3 instances of the key. 1 had data, 2 were empty. I deleted the 2 empty iterations. I had read about running regedit as an administrator and trying to change the permissions so that the owner was "adminstrators" instead of "system" but was unable to change the ownership (maybe because I have not uninstalled the older version of QuickTime that I used to get things working). Anyway I would like to install the 64 bit version of iTunes now but need to get past this problem. Additional info: I noticed that iTunes 64 bit selected as the install directory C:Program Files (x86) instead of C:Program Files. I have tried installing in each of these directories with the same results.
My system state is now that everything with iTunes in uninstalled with the exception of QuickTime 7.3.1 which I use to run a program that I use often.
however i went to install Itunes 8 (64bit) and have this issue when i startup the program. I have all updated drivers, and no hardware conflicts presently that i'm aware of.. It's starting to get frustrating not being to update my phone/Ipod etc, so i'll paypal $20 to the first person that can provide me with a solution.
