I keep getting this error message in any condition even after I have just turned on my HP G70-258US laptop; Running Vista Home Premium, SP1, Pentium(R) DC CPU T4200 @2.00GHz, 4GB RAM, 64 bit OS. Additionally, it doesn't seem to matter which program (IE, Word, games, Excel, etc) and I have not sent any print jobs to my wireless printer. I'm using IE7 which came preinstalled. I did upgrade to IE8 and hated it, so went back to IE7.
The error message pops up in an "Interactive services dialog detection" and displays "A program can't display a message on your desktop". Program Details: "(Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Program Path:
C:WindowsSystem32spoolsv.exe, Received today)

I tried to respond to the topic about DX above but wold not allow as the topic is 208 days old so thought I would start a new thread. My OS is Vista SP2 with DX11...I need DX9 to be able to play some older games as I am missing some dll files and wondered if it is ok to install this 'DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer' (link below) which seems to be the latest version 5th feb 2010. On the systems requirements though it says nothing about SP2 only SP1. Do you think this will be ok and not cause a conflict with DX11?

When I first set up my Firewall on my new computer, I kept getting a warning pop up from the Firewall (AVG) that said ".NET Runtime Optimization Service wants to connect to the internet" and it wanted to know whether to block it or allow it.
Not knowing what it was, I blocked it. I did research on google and I found nothing that explains what it does or why. One site said it is malware and I should block it, another said it is important to keep my computer running well and I should allow it! Anyone know exactly what this is, why it is here, and whether or not I should uninstall or block it, or allow it?

I have been trying to figure out how to burn myself a set of Vista Recovery discs so that I have something to fall back on if my Win 7 installation is not to my liking. The problem is, whenever I try and use the Recovery Manager to create the discs I am met with the error: Sonic: PX.dll not found. I have not already created any discs in the past and I havn't ever had any Sonic software installed on my computer. My burner functions perfectly as well. Does the D: drive contain actual images (.ISO) that I could use to burn a set of discs, or is it a process the recovery manager has to do?

I have Vista Ultimate 64 (upgrade) and the system began performing slowly about a week ago. Seemed like it was having problems accessing the drives (RAID 1). I performed a Restore which seemed to help, but after awhile it slowed down again. After some checking around I found there were no devices listed in the Program Manager. I looked on the web and found something for XP where you check your Plug and Play in Services - mine has all the buttons greyed out (can't even pause it)
The odd thing is that you can boot up, log in (that takes awhile), and browse the web without any difficulties. It's just when you want to look inside a folder that it freezes, and after while, shows you the contents. At this point, I'm going to do a repair from the installation disk if there's no other solution available.

it appears as though my webcam (a Logitech QuickCam Communications Deluxe) is crashing my MSN whenever I try to use it. I'm unsure why, honestly, and it's incredibly annoying.
As a sort of aside: how come the Task Manager doesn't actually close a program / process / task when I tell it to? It seems like it thinks about it for a while then decides it knows more than I do.
Second, my machine hangs on restarts and shutdowns for some reason. I don't know why it does it because it seems to happen at random intervals. Is there some reason why this would be happening? XP was able to shut down without a problem so it stands to reason that Vista would be able to do that, too.

I need a good file recovery program that will run both under Vista and Win 7. It needs to be able to salvage files both deleted and those lost because of disc errors. It also needs to be able to work with both internal and external hard discs, and all flavors of CD and DVD. Any recommendations? Most of the ones that allow you to download a trial have crippled to trial so much that it's really hard to judge them. Incidentally, I ran the free Recuva on a DVD-RW; I started it at 12:30 PM and at 5:30 AM (17 hours later) it showed 89% complete, and at 8:00 it had stopped with the message "allocation error".

I've been searching the net for a few days on how to fix this problem, so far useing programs like RegCure doesn't work at all, neither do most of the others.. So I decided to make an account and ask for help. When I try to install Atlas V14 (A program for translations) it comes up with Error 1935 and does a roleback, so i decided to try installing it on my laptop then copied files to PC and it comes up with a side-by-side error.. Im not too good with all the thinking stuff that goes with fixing comps. So if anyone knows how to fix the 1935 error or bypass the side-by-side thing that would help alot.

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create and association in the Set Associations control panel" I have been having a problem with my computer for several days now. Opening all programs causes me to recieve this error message. I have to use right click + Run as Administrator to use any of my programs. I have done some forum surfing and tried several recommended techniques for correcting this problem but to no avail. I downloaded the exefix_vista reg file but the very same problem prevents me from merging it (I even tried fixing the reg extension but that failed aswell). I have run the sfc/scannow in command propmt but that came up empty. I would have fresh installed but I am away from home and do not have the means to reinstall vista. I apologize if this post seems in any way redundant but my forum searches have failed me. HELP! PLEASE!

I have vista home premium 32bit and i have been recently getting error messages like the following: "the program has stopped working". Microsoft office 2007 was working for about couple of weeks when i installed it, but later on, it started not to work. I tried the repair function, reinstalling it, manually deleting the files and reinstalling it afterwards. I have also tried installing service pack 1 RTM to see if it will fix the problem. But so far, nothing works. Will the offical service pack fix this problem?

I just recently bought a new computer, and a few days ago I decided to install a BioShock demo through Steam. Everything went right just until I decided to try the demo for the first time. In the loading process, I see BioShock logo, and then the screen goes black and nothing happens: no visual, no sound, nothing, and I have to close the program / process.
I saw in Steam board, BioShock section, advices to solve some problems, and one was to uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++, and the game would reinstall them again automatically in the reinstallment process. The problem is that the game won't install nothing at all, and, in truth, not even starts, cause it goes all black just like I said previously.
Few questions here: a) I can't remember right, but it seems my computer already came from the store with two versions installed of Microsoft Visual C++: Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (it didn't said the version, but I presume it was x86) and Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64).........

I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64, and it came with 2 set of program files: program files, and program files x86. Since my hard drive is only 100 gigs, I was wondering if I could delete the normal program files and keep the x86 ones, or would that cause problems?

Quote: If you have a HP computer, then HP has it's own version of System Restore installed called HP Recovery Manager. You can uninstall this in Programs and Features.
I ran across this statement in Tutorials.
It needs some clarifications:
In Pavillion and Presario notebooks, HP Rec Mgr does more than just System restore. And btw, HP does not have its own version of SR. It runs Windows' version.
HP Rec Mgr has other functions: Re-install original software programs and hardware drivers and complete System Recovery restoring the original hard disk factory template. It can be utilized to create a set of recovery discs.
In HP Business notebook, Rec Mgr does not re-install software progs and drivers but does the others listed in Pavilion/Presario models.
I don't think HP Recovery Manager should be uninstalled. Or if perchance, he meant uninstalling System Restore, be aware that HP Rec Mgr will be unable to system restore on its own if Windows SR is unstalled or disabled.
