Feb 15, 2009When using Windows explorer, is there a way of entering it with the folders in favorite links closed and the right panel just showing the drives in your computers? It becomes a bit of a pain to close the folder and click on computer under favorite links.

May 23, 2008I'm super-new at this forum, but after searching around, I found posts from someone that had a very similar problem to mine, so I thought I'd try my luck too, and see if anyone knows how to fix this. My problem is that I accidentally deleted my -C:Users......Links- folder earlier, and then everything under "Favorite Links" in folder view disappeared. I found a way to re-create it by doing a -RUN>shell:links- command. This did the trick, but now, when I drag a folder onto the Favorite Links, the folder itself is moved into -C:Users......Links,- and not just a shortcut to the folder. When I drag a folder onto Favorite Links, I want a shortcut to that folder appear -- I don't want the whole folder to move into -C:Users......Links. I'm sorry if it's hard to understand this; my English isn't very good.If someone has any idea how to fix this problem (can it be done in the registry, perhaps?), I would be very happy if you could post here

Feb 14, 2007Windows Vista includes a great little utility that allows users to finally make soft and hard file system links in the file system. This can be very useful from a software compatibility standpoint as well as a great way to organize your computer. Unlike a shortcut, a link is at the file system level and can be used to create an alias for a file or folder that is in a different location. For example, you can create a hard link (Directory junction) called c:win that points to c:windowssystem32. After the link is created, you can open up command prompt or explorer and browse to c:win and you will see the contents of c:windowssystem32. This is not a new technology, it has actually been a core Linux and Unix feature for as far as I can remember but it is nice to finally have it in Windows Vista....

Apr 15, 2008my friend's email is thru gmail. she has a links button (looks like chain links) that she uses to provide links to websites *without* showing the website address. it simply highlights a word she has typed and the mail recipient clicks on that word to go to the website. i think several words (a phrase) can be highlighted as well as just one word. so she might say, 'click here for more info' and the word *here* will be highlighted and contains the link. does windows vista mail have this feature? i cannot find it.

The structure looks like this:

MiscStatus has a single subkey called 1
It (ie 1 ) cannot be opened, permission is denied. If I could delete 1, I could then delete the entire thing up to CLSID.
I have tried running regedit.exe as Administrator but that does not help. I am running Vista 64 SP2

I need help with this - have tried all the suggestions here with the same results as James. Sep 21, 2009My little problem is that I used to have a Vista/XP dual boot since I didn't need XP anymore I just deleted the partition and then extended the original Vista partition. The thing is, the entry for Windows XP on the bootloader is still there and I want to remove it because I want to sell this PC and the person most likely to buy it is not very computer savvy and he might get scared when he sees a black and white screen asking him if he wants to start Vista or XP and then press enter! I don't know how to do this on Windows, I have done it on Linux and it's very easy but obviously in Windows is completely different.

Dec 9, 2009"The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry". I get this error every time I try to install or update just about anything. I had this same problem a while back and couldn't find any answers so I called DELL and paid for them to fix it because this is my business computer and I needed to install something right away. I just chalked it up to the price I have to pay for my LACK of computer skills. It worked fine for several months but now it's happening again and I don't want to pay for it again. I would like to try the quoted fix but I have no idea what "that user control THINGY" is or how to turn it off. BTW, my OS is Vista 32bit and I have McAfee Security Center installed.
