View 4 RepliesVista Home Premium 32. Sometimes when I turn my monitor on in the morning I'm greeted by the password screen. When I enter my password Vista says "logging off" (and does log off) then Vista goes to the "log On" password screen. After re-entering PW again, I'm logged back on but all the apps, web pages and work that I had open last night are gone
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been having this kind of problem since I installed Vista. I like Vista very much, but it brings so much problems to me than XP. I often play Age of Empires III and in every 5 minutes it hangs for a short period of time. It hangs 2-3 times and the next thing that will happen is either it will show a black screen or hangs. Windows never responds if either of these happen, so I shut down the computer improperly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWould you like to extend the activation period to the maximum 120 days instead of the 30 day period that is set by default? It is possible and legal to do this using the software licensing manager in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Simply run slmgr -rearm to get another 30 days at an administrative level command prompt. You can do this a maximum of three times before Microsoft blocks further extensions...
View 0 Replies View RelatedThere has been a lot of news about a new technique to extend the activation period of Windows Vista past 180 days. It all started when Brian Livingston posted a story on his site, WindowsSecrets.com, about a registry key that can be modified to allow the slmgr -rearm command to be run more than three times. This allows you to use Windows Vista without having to activate it for longer than 180 days.
Activation has always been more of burden for licensed Windows users than an effective deterrent for piracy. There are already many cracks for Windows Vista that bypass activation completely. The end result is a bad experience for those that legally buy the product.
For me, this is an issue that I am always fighting with. I am constantly building, installing and re-configuring my two computers with multiple vista virtual machines. I don't want to deal with the burden of having to activate my legal copies of Windows Vista every time since none of my workstations seem to last for more than a few months before I reinstall. If I actually activated my Vista Ultimate licenses every time I reinstall I would already have to use the slow phone based system where you have to type in that super long code. Sorry Microsoft, that is a horrible experience that I'm trying to avoid.
Using Brian's registry key and the old 180 day trick, it is possible to setup Task Scheduler to automate these changes to extend the period before you need to activate beyond 180 days. Follow these steps to automate the registry change and activation reset using Task Scheduler:
Click on the Start Button, type in Task Manager and hit Enter....

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 Home Premium that I have used on one of my laptops, with excellent results. After taking a complete backup of my wife's Vista laptop, I'd like to use the same CD on her laptop, as a 30 day trial. If she likes it, I'd be willing to pay for another copy. If not, I'd restore her laptop to it's Vista.
I use StorageCraft, so my backup will restore everything, Vista, drivers, installed applications, absolutely everything. I'm not looking to cheat Microsoft, but don't want to buy a copy and then not like it. Will this work? We'll probably like it, and pay a fee to continue using the installed copy, if possible.
I have forgotten the Username and Password for the Login ID... and it is not the default (Username: *blank* Password: admin). I have heard you can hold the reset button on the back of the wireless router but will this reset my wireless network? By that i mean... will i be able to connect with my laptop still through that wireless network or will i have to set it up again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having absolutely no luck installing Adobe CS3. I've tried everything that I could find suggested on various forums to no avail and have even contacted Adobe support. They tell me they don't support trial downloads but that my situation is "strange" and unusual. This is not the impression I get from looking at several different forums, also I can't buy a piece of software I can't install
I must have downloaded at least a dozen CS3 trials and attempted to install them. The files extract onto the desktop and then when I run setup I get the installer window. The bar moves across and that's the end of the story. I have tried running an elevated command prompt:- "cd C:WindowsSysWow64" then "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" then "regsvr32 jscript". I thought this was going to be successful but when I tried to run the installer it failed and I got the following message:..........
When I bought this computer it had Trial Versions of several Microsoft programs. One was MS Office 2007. I've tried to remove this and some of the other programs, and I get the "error code 2755", and cannot remove them. Some are sizeable and I would like to recover the space.

As long as they test it, they should not run it with my license, but as a 30 days trial. Of course, my Vista is already activated. So, how can I turn its image back into an unactivatedtrial? (A clean install is no option for my colleagues, since I installed applications, drivers, tweaks and hacks, which only make the value of this particular installation.).

Vista 32bit home edition OS - Internet Explorer. Pages don't load completely, runs very slow. I know a little about computers, I guess an average user.
we have recently got two new Asus N61j laptops which have came pre-installed with a Microsoft office trial version (amongst other things), now the computers that are being replaced have full versions of office on them and I was wondering if I could just uninstall office on the old laptops and use their product keys to activate the office on the new computers so that I would not have to do two new installs on the new computers
View 6 Replies View Relatedalready has a Vista Home Basic trial installed but it has ended by now. It also has a couple of drivers already installed. However I have an OEM CD of Vista Business 64 that I'm going to use and I also want to have Vista to be in it's own partition. It's been a long time I had to format and create partitions so I don't remember much. And it was with XP then, not Vista. I was planning to format the drive and then install Vista Business 64, but I've been told I can simply select an 'upgrade' option from Home Basic to Business and keep the rest as it is. Is this true?
I also know you can create a partition in Vista, but can it be created in the drive where Vista is already installed? Like for example it's installed on a 640GB drive. Can I split it and have Vista be in a 80GB drive while the other 560GB are in a new completely empty partition? Also, in case I decide to format instead, should I do Quick Format or Format? I've been told the only thing normal format does is check for errors at the end. Taking in consideration that Vista Home Basic is currently installed is Quick Format acceptable?
where I can download Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Trial? A friend has asked me? I cannot find it anywhere?

The status of the installation will only remain at "Intializing". Approximately 5 seconds later, the installation will stop, no prompt message appear.
Same scenario appears no matter how many times i tried to install.
I purchased a digital update of Windows Vista Premium upgrade and the download won't load. I am useing a trial version of Windows XP 64-bit. I first used the digital locker a few times and it would stop at 99 percent and give a validation error. I figured it the locker was having a problem so i manual downloaded the three files through my internet browser. They downloaded fine without problems, but when I tried to run the Vista setup I ran into another error: 0x8007000D Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a new Fujitsu U810 UMPC, no optical drive. Before I had a chance to get to it, some smart person managed to power it up and force a shutdown during the initial Vista installation run. Now I keep getting "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, please restart the installation." I have tried Safe Mode and Repair (found no problems), and still get the same message. I heard there is a way to reset Vista to 'out of box' setting.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with my Windows Media Player 11 on Windows Vista Home Premium. I can no longer play any form of sound file unless its directly from a CD or a .wav file. I only get a single popping sound as I try to load any WMA or MP3 file and it says "media changing" before it loads. But I can still play WMV files with sound and picture. I thought that a solution to this problem might be to reset the player, but there seems to be no way of doing that without a clean reinstall of Vista.
