Turn Activated Back Into 30-days Trial Should Not Run
Mar 23, 2008
I want to give a clone of my system (Ultimate) to colleagues with very similar hardware. If they get convinced, they would buy license keys of their own. As long as they test it, they should not run it with my license, but as a 30 days trial. Of course, my Vista is already activated. So, how can I turn its image back into an unactivatedtrial? (A clean install is no option for my colleagues, since I installed applications, drivers, tweaks and hacks, which only make the value of this particular installation.).

I had been trying to install Norton AntiVirus 2009 15 days trial. When i click on the installation file, the installation will start. The status of the installation will only remain at "Intializing". Approximately 5 seconds later, the installation will stop, no prompt message appear.
Same scenario appears no matter how many times i tried to install.
I have tried three methods to uninstall my 360 day trial of Vista Ultimate and go back to XP operating system- I am desperate. I have tried three methods from Windows support centre with no results and I want to stop this system. I am desperate
I have my Vista laptop (HP) hooked up to an external monitor, I have been using the sleep mode at night. The laptop is closed and on a shelf that is very hard to get to. I would like to shut it off at night. I can shut it off with the keyboard. Is there any way possibly software controlled to turn it back on? To reach the power button on the laptop you must first raise the lid which there is not room to do
Running Windows Vista Ultimate. Display turns off after about fifteen minutes regardless of whether I am actively using the computer or not. The only way to turn the display back on is to close and then open the lid. This disconnets me from AOL, so I have to sign back on again, and if I was emailing, I might lose my current email. Under Power Options, I have 'Turn off the display' set to Never for both On Battery and Plugged in. Under 'Put the computer to sleep' I have both On battery and Plugged in set to never. Nonetheless, the display still shuts off while I am working. What do I need to do to prevent the display from turning off at odd intervals?
I installed Vista home premium OEM about 9 months ago and today I got a balloon message saying "I have 8 days left to install Vista. Back up all important data" The balloon messages have appeared recently, but I wasn't quick enough to read it all and I didn't believe it anyway. Just to see, I went through the process of reinstalling, but it was going to be a new install wiping all files and data from my C drive, so I cancelled the install. Would anyone know why this is happening after 9 months and is there anyway I can get around a new install? I have been using Acronis to back up, can I use it to put my settings/files/data back, or will I end up with balloon messages again?
I turned it off to install a program because it required the UAC to be off, not I try and turn it on by going Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off > Continue > then ticking the box and pressing OK. I pressed Turn User Account Control on or off > Continue and find that it is not ticked and UAC is NOT on. I keep ticking the box and going OK but it just doesn't turn on.
I was just fiddling in my user CP and I've inadvertently closed the recent visitors box. For the life of me, I can't turn it back on....I just know I'm missing something easy. I think it's time for bed How do you, ahem, switch it back on?
I have an HP Pavilion dv6700 or DV6810 as HP refers it to and it won't turn on anymore! My system has 3 gigs of RAM and is an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz. I was originally using Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium System Pack 1 (what it came with the system) and I had upgraded to Vista 64-bit. I am not sure if my problem was caused by my upgrade of Vista or my system being too warm (as I have been using it a lot and it has been getting hot and making loud noises); but after I upgraded to the 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium System Pack 2, I was then going to the upgrade directly from the Windows to the Vista Ultimate which I had purchased earlier (and not got around to update any of it with my schedule)....and after I did this, it asked for me to restart my computer and as soon as I did....poof! It shut off and won't turn back on.
i don't know what happen but i just notice that my window defender is turned off and cant not turn it back on even if i click on the screen that telling to click on to turn it back .all i get is window defender is not responding .
During inactivity my computer goes to sleep, actually it goes into a coma and can? it be awoken until I turn it off. And not by just turning it off at the switch, I have to unplug it and then restart it. At that point I get this message: The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to resume again? And then I have two choices; continue with system restore, or delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu. The second choice is the only one that works. Why is my computer going into a coma, and how can I fix it?
whenever you plug your headphones or microphone or speakers into any of the jacks on your PC, it comes up in the little box and asks you what you plugged into the jack. i accidentally unchecked something and now whenever i plug things in it wont detect anything in those sound device sockets at the back, how do i turn the auto detecting thing back on?
i think my office 07 install just went into "Compatibility mode" because the cd key was not activated, however, i dont see, nor is it asking to activate or provide the key? The icons in the taskbar, desktop, anywhere are all blank now, and documents that opened word, open it, but in compatibility mode.
Long story short, last year I built a new machine and bought a copy of vista home premium 32x (OEM / system builders). Now I want to upgrade to the 64x to take advantage of 8gb of ram - the system is 64x compatable. I've tried microsoft's alternative media request but apparently it will only accept a product key from a retail (not OEM) product key. So here's my question, assuming I can find away to get the 64x version of vista, can I use my already activated OEM 32x key to activate the 64x, in which case the 32x would no longer be in use? I've heard of people using the 32x key to activate but so far only in cases where the 32x hasn't already been activated. Basically I'm trying to avoid having to repurchase vista, just to use the 64 bit version.
I just got a new computer, and I got Vista x64 on it.The problem is that the screen saver won't turn on after the time set. What can I do?BTW, I am using a wireless set of Microsoft keyboard and mouse.
i have dual boot of vista&windows 7 on the same HDD but in different partitions. i've tries to install SP2 for vista and after reseting vista became not activated. so i did a system restore and i have now vista SP1 but also not activated. i had activate vista once before i installed windows 7, but now when i try to activate vista again it seems that something is going wrong in the bcd. i cant boot into either vista nor windows 7.
when i look at the bcdedit in the repair of vista, i see that the device partition and osdevice partition exchanged. the vista partition is now 7 and the opposite. i fixed it but the vista is still not activated. i've tried many vista activators..
I set up a dual boot on my pc and everthing went fine, the other OS is activated etc. But now my vista has reset or something and the activation was cleared. Anyone know how i can get it back?It came with the pc so i have no serial code that you get with the disc and i dont see a label on the pc anywhere.
My computer told said that Vista wasn't activated and that it had to be in 30 days. I purchased this computer with Vista installed, so I went to the side of my tower and checked the product key and tried activating it. For some reason it said it's already in use. So then I tried the Phone Activation and went through all the procedures and it's been activated. What I don't get is why wouldn't it let me activate online, but let me by phone? Was my key being used by another person or was it hacked? Luckily I didn't have to blow $150.00 for nothing.
and you can download the new Ubuntu, Karmic Koala, Ubuntu 9.10 from [url] and it's free and comes with access to thousands of free programs!
What you can do with Ubuntu:
Email Surf the web Burn CDs. Rip CDs. Listen to music using the computer. Watch vidoes/DVDs. Scan and print. Spreadsheets. Presentations Newsgroups. HTML editing. Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc. Make videos. Download photos from a camera and organize them. Translations from one language to another. Use a dictionary program that's much faster than using a book Learn how to touch type with a touch type learning program. Edit images. Send and receive a fax. Take screenshots. Create .PDF files. Create and use a data base. Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including Windows Live Messenger. IRC. Bluetooth.
What you can't do with Ubuntu:
Worry about: WPA and WGA raising their ugly heads, DRM, Viruses, Root kits, Spyware, and Malware.
The reasons that Ubuntu is more secure than Windows are twofold:
1. When *anything* in Ubuntu needs updating or patching, it all comes from the same source and a little orange star appears when any updates or patches are available. It's a known fact that anti virus apps and anti malware apps can only deal with nasties that are known, not the new ones. Hence, it is very important to be updated or patched and not just the operating system but everything that is installed on the computer. Windows has no central updating source and the user has to be checking constantly for updates to their programs or face the possibility of being compromised.
2. In Ubuntu, when anything wants to install, you have to key in your password. With Windows, you have to click on "OK" or nothing at all as is evidenced by drive by malware. Unlike Windows, the Linux kernel is not intertwined with a browser like Windows is with Internet Explorer and the kernel is kept away and protected from the user account.
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium that I have used on one of my laptops, with excellent results. After taking a complete backup of my wife's Vista laptop, I'd like to use the same CD on her laptop, as a 30 day trial. If she likes it, I'd be willing to pay for another copy. If not, I'd restore her laptop to it's Vista.
I use StorageCraft, so my backup will restore everything, Vista, drivers, installed applications, absolutely everything. I'm not looking to cheat Microsoft, but don't want to buy a copy and then not like it. Will this work? We'll probably like it, and pay a fee to continue using the installed copy, if possible.
My system keeps telling me that my Windows-license will end in x days, though I have a valid Vista-copy. I have installed SP1 in september and from that date it says 'evaluation-copy' in the right-bottom corner. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Got a laptop that, when a user logs in the following message is displayed and the system logs off again "Windows can not log on because you have not activated your copy of windows Error Code 0XC004F028 Software Licensing Service reported that the policy cache is invalid" Given that I cant login to activate vista is there any suggestions. To make matters worse the cd drive has set to second boot device, F12 function has been disabled and Bios has been locked.... and yes you huessed it they dont know the password for BIOS
I recently tried to add another hard drive (IDE) to my pc running Vista Business but the moment i logged onto windows after adding the hard drive, i got a message saying windows de-activated due to hardware changes. I then uinstalled the hard drive and windows was back in its activated state. From what i know adding a hard drive is not really a big hardware change. Can some one please tell me what hardware changes vista considers significant enough to deactivate? Vista did not come with my pc, I got it seperately.......
I'm having absolutely no luck installing Adobe CS3. I've tried everything that I could find suggested on various forums to no avail and have even contacted Adobe support. They tell me they don't support trial downloads but that my situation is "strange" and unusual. This is not the impression I get from looking at several different forums, also I can't buy a piece of software I can't install
I must have downloaded at least a dozen CS3 trials and attempted to install them. The files extract onto the desktop and then when I run setup I get the installer window. The bar moves across and that's the end of the story. I have tried running an elevated command prompt:- "cd C:WindowsSysWow64" then "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" then "regsvr32 jscript". I thought this was going to be successful but when I tried to run the installer it failed and I got the following message:..........
This is unconfirmed but I read it on a newsfeed: Run this command: rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows. Or save as a .bat and run on system startup (put in startup folder)
Isnt Microsoft up with technology these days? I ordered the Anytime Upgrade from Home Prof to Ultimate, its a download, and I have to wait 5 days? Is this usual?
