OEM 32x To 64x Using An Activated Key?

Dec 6, 2008

Long story short, last year I built a new machine and bought a copy of vista home premium 32x (OEM / system builders). Now I want to upgrade to the 64x to take advantage of 8gb of ram - the system is 64x compatable. I've tried microsoft's alternative media request but apparently it will only accept a product key from a retail (not OEM) product key. So here's my question, assuming I can find away to get the 64x version of vista, can I use my already activated OEM 32x key to activate the 64x, in which case the 32x would no longer be in use? I've heard of people using the 32x key to activate but so far only in cases where the 32x hasn't already been activated. Basically I'm trying to avoid having to repurchase vista, just to use the 64 bit version.

Reseting Vista Became Not Activated

Feb 28, 2009

i have dual boot of vista&windows 7 on the same HDD but in different partitions. i've tries to install SP2 for vista and after reseting vista became not activated. so i did a system restore and i have now vista SP1 but also not activated. i had activate vista once before i installed windows 7, but now when i try to activate vista again it seems that something is going wrong in the bcd. i cant boot into either vista nor windows 7.

when i look at the bcdedit in the repair of vista, i see that the device partition and osdevice partition exchanged. the vista partition is now 7 and the opposite. i fixed it but the vista is still not activated. i've tried many vista activators..

Installation Can Not Activated Key Product

Jun 7, 2009

My computer told said that Vista wasn't activated and that it had to be in 30 days. I purchased this computer with Vista installed, so I went to the side of my tower and checked the product key and tried activating it. For some reason it said it's already in use. So then I tried the Phone Activation and went through all the procedures and it's been activated. What I don't get is why wouldn't it let me activate online, but let me by phone? Was my key being used by another person or was it hacked? Luckily I didn't have to blow $150.00 for nothing.

Turn Activated Back Into 30-days Trial Should Not Run

Mar 23, 2008

I want to give a clone of my system (Ultimate) to colleagues with very similar hardware. If they get convinced, they would buy license keys of their own. As long as they test it, they should not run it with my license, but as a 30 days trial. Of course, my Vista is already activated. So, how can I turn its image back into an unactivatedtrial? (A clean install is no option for my colleagues, since I installed applications, drivers, tweaks and hacks, which only make the value of this particular installation.).

Hard Drive Not Hardware Change Activated

Apr 16, 2008

I recently tried to add another hard drive (IDE) to my pc running Vista Business but the moment i logged onto windows after adding the hard drive, i got a message saying windows de-activated due to hardware changes. I then uinstalled the hard drive and windows was back in its activated state. From what i know adding a hard drive is not really a big hardware change. Can some one please tell me what hardware changes vista considers significant enough to deactivate? Vista did not come with my pc, I got it seperately.......
