As long as they test it, they should not run it with my license, but as a 30 days trial. Of course, my Vista is already activated. So, how can I turn its image back into an unactivatedtrial? (A clean install is no option for my colleagues, since I installed applications, drivers, tweaks and hacks, which only make the value of this particular installation.).

After taking a complete backup of my wife's Vista laptop, I'd like to use the same CD on her laptop, as a 30 day trial. If she likes it, I'd be willing to pay for another copy. If not, I'd restore her laptop to it's Vista.
I use StorageCraft, so my backup will restore everything, Vista, drivers, installed applications, absolutely everything. I'm not looking to cheat Microsoft, but don't want to buy a copy and then not like it. Will this work? We'll probably like it, and pay a fee to continue using the installed copy, if possible.
I'm having absolutely no luck installing Adobe CS3. I've tried everything that I could find suggested on various forums to no avail and have even contacted Adobe support. They tell me they don't support trial downloads but that my situation is "strange" and unusual. This is not the impression I get from looking at several different forums, also I can't buy a piece of software I can't install
I must have downloaded at least a dozen CS3 trials and attempted to install them. The files extract onto the desktop and then when I run setup I get the installer window. The bar moves across and that's the end of the story. I have tried running an elevated command prompt:- "cd C:WindowsSysWow64" then "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" then "regsvr32 jscript". I thought this was going to be successful but when I tried to run the installer it failed and I got the following message:..........
This is unconfirmed but I read it on a newsfeed: Run this command: rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows. Or save as a .bat and run on system startup (put in startup folder)

I've tried to remove this and some of the other programs, and I get the "error code 2755", and cannot remove them. Some are sizeable and I would like to recover the space.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi recently downgraded my IE8 on vista, down to IE7 and have been waiting for IE8 to be fully released.. now from what i am reading in MS emails, it looks like its up and running as they are offering tools to upgrade ur websites, so they can be compatible with IE8 and so on... anyways b4 i go thru upgrade again, i was hoping someone could shed some light on weather its ready or not... i currently use IE8 on my win7 OS, but that one doesn't seem to be ready yet... so don't know?

I've downloaded trial versions of different scanners but I always get the same error message when iI try and install the program. "unknown publisher" Vista will not let me install antivirus software or any service packs.

we have recently got two new Asus N61j laptops which have came pre-installed with a Microsoft office trial version (amongst other things), now the computers that are being replaced have full versions of office on them and I was wondering if I could just uninstall office on the old laptops and use their product keys to activate the office on the new computers so that I would not have to do two new installs on the new computers
View 6 Replies View Relatedalready has a Vista Home Basic trial installed but it has ended by now. It also has a couple of drivers already installed. However I have an OEM CD of Vista Business 64 that I'm going to use and I also want to have Vista to be in it's own partition. It's been a long time I had to format and create partitions so I don't remember much. And it was with XP then, not Vista. I was planning to format the drive and then install Vista Business 64, but I've been told I can simply select an 'upgrade' option from Home Basic to Business and keep the rest as it is. Is this true?
I also know you can create a partition in Vista, but can it be created in the drive where Vista is already installed? Like for example it's installed on a 640GB drive. Can I split it and have Vista be in a 80GB drive while the other 560GB are in a new completely empty partition? Also, in case I decide to format instead, should I do Quick Format or Format? I've been told the only thing normal format does is check for errors at the end. Taking in consideration that Vista Home Basic is currently installed is Quick Format acceptable?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI had been trying to install Norton AntiVirus 2009 15 days trial. When i click on the installation file, the installation will start. The status of the installation will only remain at "Intializing". Approximately 5 seconds later, the installation will stop, no prompt message appear.
Same scenario appears no matter how many times i tried to install.
Does anyone know how to bring back this window ? I accidently checked the box that says " Don't show this message again ".

I purchased a digital update of Windows Vista Premium upgrade and the download won't load. I am useing a trial version of Windows XP 64-bit. I first used the digital locker a few times and it would stop at 99 percent and give a validation error. I figured it the locker was having a problem so i manual downloaded the three files through my internet browser. They downloaded fine without problems, but when I tried to run the Vista setup I ran into another error: 0x8007000D Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.

I have XP installed with SP3 and everything runs so well, my CPU runs so cooler for some reason, all my games, even Crysis run so better! AND, what? All my music and everything was on my xp partition, and when i tried to access them from vista it wouldnt let me because of permission rights. I enabled vista to read them by enabling me as an admin under the security tab. After than it was fine. Then after getting pretty frustrated with vista I just deleted the partition in XP. Thinking everthing would be fine, I booted my comp. and it still wants to boot to vista, but theres nothing there. I want it to just go straight to XP. And also, since I made it to where I could read my files in vista, I cant read My Documents in XP, it says I dont have the right to read it, but I am the one and only admin on XP. .

Also if a file backup completes successfully and is backed up on a network drive will I be able to restore from a new install of window vista premium on the same laptop that was backed up to the network drive? Is there a better way using vista premium? I have Norton Ghost 12.0 on my desktop but not on the laptop with vista premium. Don't what to have to buy a license for laptop if there is another way to make sure in case of a failure of the operating system that I could recover by an full backup or image ? I do some beta testing and do not want to spend hours re-loading software.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI turned it off to install a program because it required the UAC to be off, not I try and turn it on by going Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off > Continue > then ticking the box and pressing OK. I pressed Turn User Account Control on or off > Continue and find that it is not ticked and UAC is NOT on. I keep ticking the box and going OK but it just doesn't turn on.

The Backup did not complete succesfully
CATASTROPHIC FAILURE (0x8000FFFF).
So then if i try and do a a back up from control panel. a green bar appears and then go's red completely.
Finaly i get the same message on the bottom right hand side.
After 4 months of fighting Vista Home Premium, I am done. Have you gone back to XP and do you have any regrets?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDue to an Office Enterprise issue that can only be resolved with a clean re-install of Vista on an ACER computer rather than re-installing the ACER factory load I have bought a Full version of VISTA Home Preimum so that I can do a CLEAN install. I have 3 partitions on my HD C, D & hidden, the hidden contains the factory load. My plan is to run a full back up to D as well as copies of my files. I will also make copies of my files off computer. I do have the ACER recovery disks but I hope to never have to use them. When I am all backed up I would like to format C, get rid of the hidden partition, keep D, put the VISTA DVD into the drive and do a clean install of VISTA on C. I could be wrong but I think that it would be best to format before putting the VISTA disk into the drive so there is no confusion between product keys etc. this is not an upgrade it is the same version that ACER supplied.

I reformat my computer about twice a year to keep things ship shape and one of the most annoying things about it is getting back all the windows / microsoft updates. Is it possible to back up all the updates you have on your computer to speed things up?
Also, if I have Vista SP1 as my install disk, and have SP2 saved to a disk can I just go ahead and put SP2 on right away or do you have to get all the little in between updates that came out before SP2?
Currently I backup my entire C directory and the D recovery to a Clickfree 320g external drive. Is this the best approach? I am assuming that in taking that approach the OS is also backed up and given the worst case that I must reinstall the OS I can get back to pre-event status given it's all backed up. Anyway what is the best approach to" Back-up"?

Is this coincidence or are other people having a similar problem ?. Windows Media Player is also going a bit haywire by not playing random selections . Have not had any problems before so it looks like the Beta I E 8 is not compatible with vbista at this moment. Can anybody tell me how to uninstall I E8 and go back to 7.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I have Vista go into "Sleep" I am un-able to wake it back up. I have tried everything from moving the mouse to hitting just about every button. In the end I simply have to restart the computer. Right now I use my laptop a lot and sleep comes in handy for me. I have a 1.7 CPU, 2 GB RAM on the 32-Bit OS.
My second problem deals with the row of HP QuickPlay buttons that came stock with my dv2000 series HP Laptop. The buttons themselves work but I no longer get any kind of notification of the action. For instance when I hit the mute button it no longer turns red. I have tried updating the driver and that did not work. Any thoughts? One last thing. In my opinion the Vista "sound", "battery" and "Wireless Network" buttons on the task bar look like shit. Does any one know how to replace them?
recently i needed to use cmd for something ,and when i typed cmd into run it said cmd was missing so i went into my system32 folder and saw that it was deleted somehow ,so im asking is there a way to reset it so it appears again or how would i be able to get it back ,ive looked every where for an answer to this but never found andy answers or help ,i contacted microsoft about a month ago and yesterday i got an email from them just saying to search their FAQ ,but i looked through the whole thing and found nothing.
