Password Recovery/Reset?
Aug 8, 2009
I have read the tutorials, and I am having trouble with method three (Offline NT Password Recovery), which is what it need to do being that there are no other accounts on his laptop. My situation - my friend's brother passed away unexpectedly and I need to retrieve information on his computer (pictures mainly) for the funeral service. I have used OphCrack and Offline NT PR, but I'm not sure if I'm using them correctly.

How do I reset my username and password on windows mail? It will not let me send or receive my mail. It wants me to verify that both are correct for my mail server. I've tried every username and password that I've ever used. I'm pullin' my hair out here! Can't think of anything else to do.

Have a Vista 32 Premium Home Edition and on the advice of "Goddess", I need to make a password recovery disk, as I just changed the Administrators Password. I see some sites online, but they say something about a USB Flashdrive, and I don't think I have this?!? Also, I trust more the people on this site who give advice, info and instructions.I do have a DVD/CD burner.

I have forgotten the Username and Password for the Login ID... and it is not the default (Username: *blank* Password: admin). I have heard you can hold the reset button on the back of the wireless router but will this reset my wireless network? By that i mean... will i be able to connect with my laptop still through that wireless network or will i have to set it up again?

I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

I just acquired a new Fujitsu U810 UMPC, no optical drive. Before I had a chance to get to it, some smart person managed to power it up and force a shutdown during the initial Vista installation run. Now I keep getting "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, please restart the installation." I have tried Safe Mode and Repair (found no problems), and still get the same message. I heard there is a way to reset Vista to 'out of box' setting.

I am having problems with my Windows Media Player 11 on Windows Vista Home Premium. I can no longer play any form of sound file unless its directly from a CD or a .wav file. I only get a single popping sound as I try to load any WMA or MP3 file and it says "media changing" before it loads. But I can still play WMV files with sound and picture. I thought that a solution to this problem might be to reset the player, but there seems to be no way of doing that without a clean reinstall of Vista.

We've bought an HP 2710p tablet and built up the pre-installed Vista Business OS to work on our network. putting domain, installing bespoke software, taking the pre-installed crap off, etc. A user had it and was working fine for a few weeks and his story was that it was running low on battery, so he plugged it in, then went away for a bit. He comes back and finds the thing re-installing itself to factory settings!
I found that hard to believe, but upon taking re-possession of it, that's exactly what's it done - seemingly no questions asked! A crash is one thing, but a complete automatic factory recover! Have to say we're not best pleased. Why would it do that and how do i stop if from doing anything on its own terms again?

I am having problems shuting down Vista 1. edition. Whatever could be the cause of this nuisance? I have to push the reset button in the middle of the shuting down process in order to get the computer to respond. This results in black screen and Advanced Startup Options. Opting for Normal Mode will start up Vista ok, but it is really annoying to have to go via Advanced Options every time I am going to boot up.
