I heard that Vista has its own recovery manager to create recover disc. I was looking through all of my files and could not find and I couldn't find it. I found back up option which I don't think is the same. Reason for this is that my Vista CD is behind a furniture that I can not be bothered to move and get it. It has been there for last three months. So I want to create recover disc....
I will use some of image creation software and create images but until i save some money to buy Western Digital TB external USB HD I need recovery disc. I am not sure if I am allowed to mention this here but there are a lot of torrent offering recovery disc for Vista 32 and 64. Are they OK to use or creating recovery disc from within Vista itself is better option.

I want to create a recovery partition on my windows Vista laptop. Pretty much i want to be pompted when the pc boots to hit f10 and have a count down of 10 seconds. I know this would be done through boot.ini however i have no idea how to do so. Also id make a seperate partition on my hd of ten gigs just for the backup image.
I am configuring/personalizing a new HP Pavilion dv7-2173d with Vista home 64bit OS. I'm making recovery disks using blank CDs I had in the house. Using those disks I need 20 of them. I know the recovery disks will include all the software I won't use and don't want. Do I need to do all 20 to get recovery disks jsut for Vista?
I recently purchased a new machine with Vista installed by the manufacterer. the hard drive has been partitioned with a 10gb section holding recovery files. I was originaly told by the salesman,( who apparently had an overwhelming compunction to lie ) that the partition was the complete installation of the OS and that I could burn as many copies as I wanted. After I got the machine home and powered up I found that several of his claimes were false. including the contents of the partition. What I have are recovery files. OH well, My main problem is that when I try the burn to cd obviously the files wont fit on one disk and I ame unable to insert a second disc to continue the burn without the system going back to the begining and starting over. I must be using the wrong process as I would think that I would be prompted to insert the second disc. Secondly I want the original instalation disk. I feel that its BS that because I didn't install the OS my self that I don't get a disc. I still payed for the OS. I've done this enough that I know that I need to be prepared for a melt down. And the time to prepare is before it happens. I have alot of questions about imaging on DVD, Bios, etc. but first I want to burn the recovery files.
My two vista recovery disks. Can i make "ISO" images out of these using "imgburn" i really just thought it would be a good idea to have the two recovery disks that i have as "ISO" images, so i can have these on my other computer as a backup copies...
I have been learning about the "imgburn" program, and thought it would be a good idea to get some practice on creating some ISO images. So if this is fine and ok to do, what would normally happen when i inserted the first disk, would i just cancel out anything that pops up. Windows vista home premium
I am trying to create a recovery disk set that will allow me to image and restore my hard drive, however my last attempt using BARTPE and Driveimaxe xml failed. I was able to backup my hard disk but when i went to restore my partition, I got a bsod. I also tried Acronis home 11 recovery media and it seemed to stall half way through the restore process, backup process wass the same as before. The only way to restore my disk parition is to remove my drive and conect it to an external USB caddy and no problems occur other than it is a little slow and time consuming.
I recently acquired a Dell Studio XPS 435 desktop with Vista Ultimate as the OS. My plan is to upgrade to Windows 7 in the next couple of months or so. Therefore I won't need the Vista recovery partition on the hard drive. I am trying to eliminate it and add to the C: drive partition. Looking at my drive 0 in disk management I have from Right to left a C: partition 683Gb NTFS with the usual Healthy (System, Boot, Page File, Active, Crash Dump, Primary Partition). Directly to the left is the Recovery or D: drive which is 15Gb NTFS marked Healthy (Primary Partition) and finally to the left is the last partition of 71Mb marked Healthy (EISA Configuration). No idea what that is. Right clicking in the Recovery partition gives several options including: format, shrink volume, extend volume, delete volume, mark volume as active, change drive letter and paths, as well as help.
My question is how to remove the recovery partition and then extend the C: partition. My first thought is to format the recovery partition, delete the volume and then right click the C: drive partition and extend it but I really need some advice so I don't screw up the whole disk. For instance I have no idea what if anything hapens to the drive letters.I think maybe what I am calling partitions are really volumes so you can see I am over my head here.
After my PC was burned out by lightening through my Broadband connection I received a new PC from my insurers with Win.Vista Business, but I did not received (and will not) the Windows Installation CD.
Whilst setting up the new PC with various matters an invitation appeared for me to make a Windows Recovery disc, but I was too busy with other matters to do it there and then, so thinking that this invitation will appear again I cancelled it.
It is now some weeks and the invitation has not reappeared. Which way can I make the Recovery Disc in case of a crash?
When I bought my first comp it was XP and prompted me to make recovery disc's the first time I started the thing, But I just bought a new comp with Vista and it didn't propt me to do this when I started it the first time. So the question I have is, How do I make a recovery disc for my Vista comp?

I once used a set of recovery disc that i got from hp. time went by, i decided to use the disc again, only after i used them, my computer would start up with a black screen and the cursor, then a message said windows have not been install, please try re-install windows. i tried it again same thing, when i restarted my laptop to hit f11, no luck. i have search the net looking for an answer, no luck, then i found recovery disk from neosmart. i downloaded that tried to do a start up repair to see if thats the problem, didn't work, so i next-ed tried to do a system restore, restored to a point, still the same problem, i also tried a diagnostic tool, no help at all. now im thinking i just have to re-install vista completely, but i dont want to pay for it again.
All the discussion about a bootable recovery disc, and this article I ran across the other day. The article says you need the original installation disc. I have a machine that the disc didn't come with. Vista SP1: Create a recovery disc - istartedsomething. If I don't have the original disc, can I still make a Recovery Disc thru SP1? I know that there are a lot of places to download a ISO image from. In fact I downloaded one yesterday from a source in this thread. Complete PC Restore- HOW??
But I am under the impression that it would be better to use a disc created after you have loaded SP1 if you have to do a repair? The question is, will I be able to create a recovery disc after I have downloaded SP1 if I don't have the original install disc? Or should I just create the one I have the image for and if I need to use it then Reload SP1 after I get running again?

I have a toshiba laptop. I have a virus on it. So I have decided to re-install my OS. I have a disc and a key too. But the problem is that, after installing, i will need a recovery disc. I dont have 1 for this laptop, but i do have for my dell laptop. Can i use that for toshiba 1?
I bought a laptop with vista home premium preinstalled on it and i didnt get a recovery disc. I want to change the language to english as currently it is in german.
Anyway, can the recovery created disc you make at first use of your pc, restore your computer back to the factory defult after you do a complete clean install of another OS? Say, I go from the Vista premium 64bit that was installed in the laptops stock form, to Xp 64bit from a offical OS disc, back to the Vista 64bit factory install.... lol follow that? It sounds way better inside my head then it sounds read out loud. Maybe thats where it should of stayed...?
Also, the Vista key that is used on my laptop from the factory installed OS, can it be used If I were to try and use the same OS to do a clean install, but from an offical cd? Basicly, would my key that I am currently using, work if I use it on a OS disc install? I just want to make sure I can get this thing back to "fresh out the box" stands if need be. For the windows 7 update, or to return shortly if I can not get issues resolved on my own.
i need to restore my computer back to the factory settings. problem is i don't have the disc everybody keeps mentioning. i use to have another computer with windows xp on it. i restored that computer without a disc no problem. is there a way to restore vista basic to factory settings without a disc?
When i try to burn my set of Recovery Disc from my 7 months old HP 530 laptop operating on Windows Vista 32bits. The process of the burning crashed along the line but not knowing to me because i thought the set of the Backup and Recovery CD is just only one DVD CD since the process stop on one DVD CD but later got it that it should be two DVD CDs. Foolish me, I was rest assured that I have the Backup and Recovery CD with me until that very ill-fitted day that I tried to recover my laptop. Along the process, when it got to where there is REINSTALLING THE ORIGINAL CONTENTS in the Recovery Manager screen, my computer just show ”ERROR 0008, IF PROBLEM CONTINUES, CONTACT THE HP CUSTOMER SERVICE”.
The next option it gave me is to click OK or CANCEL. Of which if I did , It reboots and stop at the first black screen that usually show: PRESS F11 FOR EMERGENCY RECOVERY. Of which if I did not press the F11 button, It shows: ”BOOTMG FILE MISSING”, ”PRESS CRTL+ALT+DEL TO REBOOT” and it will be going through this loop throughout. burnt Backup and Recovery DVD CD from my D: partition, it just copy only few of the recovery boot data. I have tried the recovery CD I downloaded from this site but to avail. It only says after the startup repairing ''THIS SYSTEM CANNOT BE REPAIR AUTOMATICALLY''.
i started to make a recovery disc, but all i had was a cd around, so i had to stop after the first one and now i have dvd's, so i tried to restart and do it again but it tells me that it has to be a cd and that its on disk 2 of 17, i dont even have the 1st disk anymore that was months ago that i made that and i forgot about it thinking that i would just make the dvds later, is there any way to reset this process?? theres absolutely no options or minues in the recovery manager so im not sure what to do.
friend's laptop came up with the unmountable boot volume BSOD recently and I've been trying to fix it. I followed the guide and booted the startup recovery disc, but all I'm getting is a black screen with a mouse arrow after it says it's loading, so I can't even get to the startup recovery option yet. Is there a reason it's not showing up? Its a Dell Inspiron 1526 laptop with windows home 32bit.
I'm using a Toshiba Satellite A300-1HP and i want to format. However, i don't have any disk that includes Vista or any drivers in it, as was the case with a previous Toshiba satellite model i owned. I only have the product key for Windows vista home premium, on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
I'm working on a Gateway LX 6810-01 and he completley reformatted his hard drive. He ordered some factory discs to restore to factory settings but when it loads it up it just hangs.
I made a vista 64 recovery disc and it loads up.. When it does it asks for the Dvd/cd Rom driver.
The device is a HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GH15F SCSI Cdrom Device
It lets me serach for it and flash drive is an option and I have one handy, however I can't just find the driver I need and put it on this flash drive for the computer I'm working on.
i m trying to find a recovery disc for the acer aspire m1610 system. i totally screwed up my hard drive and have lost the entire recovery partition. if any1 has a m1610 i would appreciate if you could get an ISO image from the eRecovery application. i tried installing eRecovery back onto the system but everytime i do, an error pops up and says "Not D2D System, eRecovery cannot be installed."
I had to do a disc recovery which took me back to factory settings. Most things are required to be set up from scratch. Do I have to set up my e-mail account all over again?
I was given a HP Compaq 6820s by a good friend with a bad hard drive. He had not made recovery discs, and HP can't supply them. I can replace the hard drive no problem, but don't want to fork over the $$$ for a new Vista OS. I have XP pro, but there seems to be too many issues with downgrading. I have the COA on the bottom of the computer. Since the OS was definitely paid for with the original purchase, can I get an OS from MS for this computer?
