Re-install VISTA Business Without Recovery Disc

Oct 1, 2009

I was given a HP Compaq 6820s by a good friend with a bad hard drive. He had not made recovery discs, and HP can't supply them. I can replace the hard drive no problem, but don't want to fork over the $$$ for a new Vista OS. I have XP pro, but there seems to be too many issues with downgrading. I have the COA on the bottom of the computer. Since the OS was definitely paid for with the original purchase, can I get an OS from MS for this computer?

Not Boot: Download: Windows Vista X64 Recovery Disc

Apr 4, 2009

I've read just about every thread about vista not booting and am completely at a loss. I am running Windows VISTA Ultimate x64, do not have the original disk with me as i brought this computer to work on to my vacation spot to do some work. After running a botched program, I got a msg saying the computer would restart automaticly. Having extensive windows knowledge I know this is never a good situation to be in. I am using a windows x64 boot disk that i found from neosmart as I do not have access to the original disk.

Download: Windows Vista x64 Recovery Disc — The NeoSmart Files

I have tried every option in recovery options. Just to clarify, after everything posts, without errors, I get a black screen with a white cursor that moves down a few lines and doesn't do anything after that.......

Recovery Disc

May 5, 2008

After my PC was burned out by lightening through my Broadband connection I
received a new PC from my insurers with Win.Vista Business, but I did not
received (and will not) the Windows Installation CD.

Whilst setting up the new PC with various matters an invitation appeared for
me to make a Windows Recovery disc, but I was too busy with other matters to
do it there and then, so thinking that this invitation will appear again I
cancelled it.

It is now some weeks and the invitation has not reappeared. Which way can I
make the Recovery Disc in case of a crash?

Creating Recovery Disc

Jun 12, 2008

I heard that Vista has its own recovery manager to create recover disc. I was looking through all of my files and could not find and I couldn't find it. I found back up option which I don't think is the same. Reason for this is that my Vista CD is behind a furniture that I can not be bothered to move and get it. It has been there for last three months. So I want to create recover disc....

I will use some of image creation software and create images but until i save some money to buy Western Digital TB external USB HD I need recovery disc. I am not sure if I am allowed to mention this here but there are a lot of torrent offering recovery disc for Vista 32 and 64. Are they OK to use or creating recovery disc from within Vista itself is better option.

Recovery Disc Not Working

May 15, 2010

I once used a set of recovery disc that i got from hp. time went by, i decided to use the disc again, only after i used them, my computer would start up with a black screen and the cursor, then a message said windows have not been install, please try re-install windows. i tried it again same thing, when i restarted my laptop to hit f11, no luck. i have search the net looking for an answer, no luck, then i found recovery disk from neosmart. i downloaded that tried to do a start up repair to see if thats the problem, didn't work, so i next-ed tried to do a system restore, restored to a point, still the same problem, i also tried a diagnostic tool, no help at all. now im thinking i just have to re-install vista completely, but i dont want to pay for it again.

SP1: Create A Recovery Disc

Feb 27, 2008

All the discussion about a bootable recovery disc, and this article I ran across the other day. The article says you need the original installation disc. I have a machine that the disc didn't come with. Vista SP1: Create a recovery disc - istartedsomething. If I don't have the original disc, can I still make a Recovery Disc thru SP1? I know that there are a lot of places to download a ISO image from. In fact I downloaded one yesterday from a source in this thread. Complete PC Restore- HOW??

But I am under the impression that it would be better to use a disc created after you have loaded SP1 if you have to do a repair? The question is, will I be able to create a recovery disc after I have downloaded SP1 if I don't have the original install disc? Or should I just create the one I have the image for and if I need to use it then Reload SP1 after I get running again?

Factory Installed OS Recovery Disc

Oct 20, 2009

Anyway, can the recovery created disc you make at first use of your pc, restore your computer back to the factory defult after you do a complete clean install of another OS? Say, I go from the Vista premium 64bit that was installed in the laptops stock form, to Xp 64bit from a offical OS disc, back to the Vista 64bit factory install.... lol follow that? It sounds way better inside my head then it sounds read out loud. Maybe thats where it should of stayed...?

Also, the Vista key that is used on my laptop from the factory installed OS, can it be used If I were to try and use the same OS to do a clean install, but from an offical cd? Basicly, would my key that I am currently using, work if I use it on a OS disc install? I just want to make sure I can get this thing back to "fresh out the box" stands if need be. For the windows 7 update, or to return shortly if I can not get issues resolved on my own.

Burn Set Of Recovery Disc Stop On DVD CD

Nov 23, 2008

When i try to burn my set of Recovery Disc from my 7 months old HP 530 laptop operating on Windows Vista 32bits. The process of the burning crashed along the line but not knowing to me because i thought the set of the Backup and Recovery CD is just only one DVD CD since the process stop on one DVD CD but later got it that it should be two DVD CDs. Foolish me, I was rest assured that I have the Backup and Recovery CD with me until that very ill-fitted day that I tried to recover my laptop. Along the process, when it got to where there is REINSTALLING THE ORIGINAL CONTENTS in the Recovery Manager screen, my computer just show ”ERROR 0008, IF PROBLEM CONTINUES, CONTACT THE HP CUSTOMER SERVICE”.

The next option it gave me is to click OK or CANCEL. Of which if I did , It reboots and stop at the first black screen that usually show: PRESS F11 FOR EMERGENCY RECOVERY. Of which if I did not press the F11 button, It shows: ”BOOTMG FILE MISSING”, ”PRESS CRTL+ALT+DEL TO REBOOT” and it will be going through this loop throughout. burnt Backup and Recovery DVD CD from my D: partition, it just copy only few of the recovery boot data. I have tried the recovery CD I downloaded from this site but to avail. It only says after the startup repairing ''THIS SYSTEM CANNOT BE REPAIR AUTOMATICALLY''.

The device is a HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GH15F SCSI Cdrom Device

It lets me serach for it and flash drive is an option and I have one handy, however I can't just find the driver I need and put it on this flash drive for the computer I'm working on.
