i got a new graphics cards fitted to my pc as my last one died the new card is a Radeon hd4770 the problem is that i cant get audio sound through hdmi wire when i am sending the signal to my tv. when i go on playback option on sound config page it says ATI HDMI OUTPUT not plugged in and wont let me enable it.
View 7 RepliesI have a laptop (Dell XPS M1330) running Vista Home Premium 32bit featuring an HDMI port and, as far as I can see, a soundcard called SigmaTel High Definition Audio. I regularly watch videos on my LCD TV using HDMI and I am constantly annoyed by the fact that the audio output doesn't automatically switch over to HDMI when the cable is connected (or vice versa when the cable is disconnected).
One would expect it to do so as this is how it generally works when f.ex. headphones are connected and indeed, on my laptop, the audio switches from speakers to headphones automatically without any problems. My solution to the problem is to manually change the default output device to HDMI and then restarting the media player. I cannot see why this operation cannot be automatic, and therefore I ask of you all if there is any way to accomplish an automatic switch from speakers to HDMI when an HDMI cable is connected
Will leaving my laptop plugged in 24/7, when computer is not in use, cause any harm?
View 9 Replies View RelatedBattery is 100% charged, After 2 days in ac power it shows 98%, plugged not charging. Then if I use the battery for a while less than 95% and if i plugged it in ac power, it starts charging and become 100%, fully charged. After two days it show 98%, plugged not charging.
So it is charging, but not holding the charge for some days. Battery replaced with a new one. Laptop is still under waranty. I am getting 2 hour 20 minutes battery backup. Would like to know is it a hardware or vista problem?
During the first auto backup attempt, I forgot to plug the external HD into my new HP Pavillian running Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS and so the back up, of course, failed. So I figured I'd try a manual back up; however, instead of selecting the external HD (option was not available cause the drive was not plugged in) I selected Drive E where I store my documents. The backup begn but once I realized what was happening I stopped it. Well it left 3 items in in the E Drive where I store my files
1) system volume information folder
2) MediaIn.bin file
3) my compuer name and -PC folder
I finally came to my senses and plugged in the external and backed to it and noticed the backup has these 3 files as well. I already deleted #3 above--is there a reason why I should not delete the other two items from E Drive since they show up on the L Drive when the external HD is plugged in? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've gone from a machine running win98se to Vista home premium 64 bit and I'm scared to death of it.
I have HP NW8000 laptop running Vista Ultimate. I installed SP1 a few days ago. After the upgrade, the battery is not charging anymore. Right now it is completely drained out and it says 0% available plugged in, not charging. I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery drivers (there were two) from the Device Manager and install them again with scan for hardware changes. I tried unplugging and plugging the battery back but nothing helps. The can't get the battery to charge. What gives?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Vista x64 with a Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card, and I am experiencing graphics corruption in, particularly in 3d apps.
I sometimes get white horizontal lines across the screen and sometimes white blocks. In some 3d apps portions of the environment flicker out. they seem to disappear and I can see what is behind whatever object has disappeared momentarily.
Using Catalyst I can see that the graphics card never breaks 40% GPU utilization and the temperature never exceeds 40 degrees C.
I also had a very low end Nvidia 7500LE using the generic windows driver which also had the white lines, but I never tested the 3d apps with it.
Currently, if using the 8.2 ATI drivers, all seems well until I launch a 3d app. I have a 500 watt power supply.
I'm running Windows Vista on a Gateway NX570X laptop. About a year after I bought it, it slid off the table and bent the connecter for the original AC adapter, so I bought a new adapter online. It's an off-brand adapter, but the voltage outputs and inputs are the same as my old adapter, and it charged the battery fine for about two months. Then the battery started charging halfway and then less and less until finally it reached 0% available (plugged in, not charging). Now, this still wasn't an immediate problem for me because my laptop is stationary most of the time; however, since last October the adapter has had to be plugged in at a certain angle or it won't power the laptop at all, and now it has taken to shutting off randomly or whenever the connecter is nudged. Highlights:
* Gateway NX570X laptop with Windows Vista
* Off-brand AC adapter worked for about two months before malfunctions began
* Battery life reads 0% available (plugged in, not charging)
* Adapter must be inserted into the laptop at just the right angle to turn it on
* Computer shuts down randomly, ranging between minutes, hours, and days after starting it up
I am looking to hook my computer up to my 27" Toshiba TV. I always have trouble seeing everything though. I have an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro graphics card. Are there any settings i can change besides that resolution of the screen and the DPI?

The graphics card works fine, but Vista neither recognizes the TV Tuner nor do I think ATI will support it since AMD bought them out.. AMD is being very vague on AIW or any TV Tuner support. I'm curious what Microsoft will do to support the full functions of mass marketed hardware such as the All-In Wonder TV Tuner Graphics cards?

It belonged to a friend and I have only received it recently, so I do not know its history. When I hover above the 'power plan' icon on the bottom toolbar, it says "0% available, (plugged in, not charging)" and, accordingly, cannot run the computer on battery power. Is this definitely a problem with the computer's battery, despite it being only one year old?

When importing a DVR-MS file recorded using Windows Media Center into Windows Movie Maker, in order to convert it to a more compact WMV file, a green screen shows up in the preview pane on the right-hand side. The audio works -- but only green shows.
It's strange because the DVR-MS file plays fine within Windows Media Center.
System is a Dell XPS 410 running an ATI Radeon x1600 pro with the latest Certified driver from Windows Update (8.391.0.0 dated 6/26/2007).
There is a later driver available from ATI, 8.9, but before taking the risk up upgrading the driver, wonder if there's another setting that may be causing the green screen?
I think I found a card for my needs. Now the question is; can my system handle it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have no sound coming from my speakers. I don't know of any specific trigger. A friend ejected my iPod and walked off with it, but that's the only action I can think of done on the computer for a while. Looking in the IDT Audio panel it says the following:
With no headphones in - it shows that I have a pair plugged in my middle jack.
With headphones on the left (mic) jack - it shows a mic plugged in and nothing else
With headphones in the middle - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)
With headphones on the right - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)........
I was in the process of trying to get internet access on my Xbox 360, so I plugged it into my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L305-S5921) and as soon as I did my wireless connection went from full connection to either local only or identifying (one of the two). So I no longer have internet on not only my laptop, but I still can't figure out how to connection share to my Xbox. This happened before, but somehow it fixed itself? I tried reinstalling the wireless drivers to no avail; it didn't fix the problem. So if anyone can help me diagnose this problem, This is pretty urgent because I need to be able to use the internet for homework.

It does, however, display Monitor 1 as a clone. How do I activate the second monitor so that when I extend the desktop I can open up windows separately? So while im playing, after 10 min. the PC starts to make noise (humming noise). It is telling me that WindowsSystem32Driversacpi.sys is missing or corrupt. I am dual-booting XP and Vista, and I found out that the entire drivers folder is missing on Vista. How can I get it back, or will I have to do a format re-install?

Now, I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 card and was hoping to watch Blu-Ray videos on my current monitor which is an HP w19b. The monitor has a maximum resolution of 1440x900. From what I understand of HD technology, this would mean that no, the monitor would not be able to handle the full 1080p resolution, but it should be able to display 720p.
But here is the question, will my current monitor be able to display ANYTHING from the Blu-Ray player? I think the confusion comes in when I see these monitors that advertise HD capable, but I thought all monitors were HD capable, you just need to know what resolution you are trying to display the HD at, 720p or 1080p.
Ive got a problem where the mic is only picked up once it is unplugged and plugged back in again. Ive updated the drivers and put a splitter in the mic jack to try and stop the socket from wearing down. The problem is I have to remove the splitter and plug that back in for it to pick it up now. Its an Asus P5N-E SLI 650i Socket 775 PCI-E Onboard Audio ATX Motherboard running onboard sound with realtek drivers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having issues with the .NET framework and my V-Ultimate 64 machine. I essentially can no longer sync with my ZUNE. (I do not want an IPOD, forget it). I wasn't able to do a machine repair I believe because of SP1... so I went out and bought another hard drive to put in the machine. I tried the following sites suggestions to install the new OS on the blank WD320 HD and had no luck. I had my machine stripped down to just the video card, an old plug style keyboard, no mouse and nothing USB plugged in.
NO LUCK either. My machine is AMD 6000+, two 750GB hard drives, Vista Ultimate 64, 4GB RAM, one new 320GB hard drive, all sata, two DVD roms (one disconnected) and dual NVIDIA Fatal1ty 8600's in SLI (one disconnected for the new install). Essentially when the installer finishes and attempts to restart to finish its install I get a blue screen? What is the issue?
I figure I might as well post it in this forum to inform those who have my card (ASUS EAH4850 512MB). Currently after posting this topic in another forum, there seems to be no solution. Here is my conclusions from the situation. Sleep mode with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit does not work with multidisplays, using the radeon HD4850 running Catalyst 8.7 or Catalyst 8.8, when returning from sleep mode. It works only on a single display and will not work even when the secondary display is disabled. Monitors will display a blank screen and the power lights will flash indicating they are in standby even after the system has been restored from sleep mode. The secondary monitor must be physically detached from the graphics card (remove the DVI, AGP, or S-Video cable) for the system to return from sleep mode.

For instance, I wanna know exactly what the attr. for "Wireless Adapter Settings>Powers Saving Mode>Maximum Power Saving" are. Anyone here know where I might find something like that? I tryed googel'ing it, but I didn't find anything relevant. One more thing, since I'm on the subject, does the power settings for "plugged in" affect the life span of the battery in any way? I'm thinking, since you can use "Maximum Power Saving" on "Plugged in". Who would wanna do that? And what would be the point?'

When using HDMI connection instead of VGA, the font quality is blurred and distorted. I tried at least 4 different brand new hdmi cables and know for sure it is not the cable NOR the laptop NOR the monitor itself. It is a setting somewhere along the line. I've tried this on 2 laptops, 2 monitors (same brand/model), all same issue.
I set resolution to 1900x1200 and tried 1900x1080 (both 32bit). No normal quality at all. VGA is fine, but I prefer hdmi for higher quality - at least once I get it fixed. I tried 59hz and 60hz,
no sound after i got a new graphics card.

I've got a Medion Pc with an 9600 TX videocard on it. With Xp, no problems. Now I bougt a Vista Ultimate 32-Bits edition. I tried to reinstall a driver from the site from medion (x86). I always get an error message from the Catalyst Center that there is not any compatible hardware... Vista also shows that there are problems with it...
