98% Plugged In, Not Charging.
Sep 19, 2008Battery is 100% charged, After 2 days in ac power it shows 98%, plugged not charging. Then if I use the battery for a while less than 95% and if i plugged it in ac power, it starts charging and become 100%, fully charged. After two days it show 98%, plugged not charging.
So it is charging, but not holding the charge for some days. Battery replaced with a new one. Laptop is still under waranty. I am getting 2 hour 20 minutes battery backup. Would like to know is it a hardware or vista problem?
Drive Was Not Plugged In
Feb 25, 2008During the first auto backup attempt, I forgot to plug the external HD into my new HP Pavillian running Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS and so the back up, of course, failed. So I figured I'd try a manual back up; however, instead of selecting the external HD (option was not available cause the drive was not plugged in) I selected Drive E where I store my documents. The backup begn but once I realized what was happening I stopped it. Well it left 3 items in in the E Drive where I store my files
1) system volume information folder
2) MediaIn.bin file
3) my compuer name and -PC folder
I finally came to my senses and plugged in the external and backed to it and noticed the backup has these 3 files as well. I already deleted #3 above--is there a reason why I should not delete the other two items from E Drive since they show up on the L Drive when the external HD is plugged in? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've gone from a machine running win98se to Vista home premium 64 bit and I'm scared to death of it.
Plugged In, Not Charging Battery
Mar 23, 2008I have HP NW8000 laptop running Vista Ultimate. I installed SP1 a few days ago. After the upgrade, the battery is not charging anymore. Right now it is completely drained out and it says 0% available plugged in, not charging. I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery drivers (there were two) from the Device Manager and install them again with scan for hardware changes. I tried unplugging and plugging the battery back but nothing helps. The can't get the battery to charge. What gives?

May 19, 2009I'm running Windows Vista on a Gateway NX570X laptop. About a year after I bought it, it slid off the table and bent the connecter for the original AC adapter, so I bought a new adapter online. It's an off-brand adapter, but the voltage outputs and inputs are the same as my old adapter, and it charged the battery fine for about two months. Then the battery started charging halfway and then less and less until finally it reached 0% available (plugged in, not charging). Now, this still wasn't an immediate problem for me because my laptop is stationary most of the time; however, since last October the adapter has had to be plugged in at a certain angle or it won't power the laptop at all, and now it has taken to shutting off randomly or whenever the connecter is nudged. Highlights:
* Gateway NX570X laptop with Windows Vista
* Off-brand AC adapter worked for about two months before malfunctions began
* Battery life reads 0% available (plugged in, not charging)
* Adapter must be inserted into the laptop at just the right angle to turn it on
* Computer shuts down randomly, ranging between minutes, hours, and days after starting it up

Apr 21, 2008I am currently using a laptop that is approx one year old - it's a toshiba tecra A6. It belonged to a friend and I have only received it recently, so I do not know its history. When I hover above the 'power plan' icon on the bottom toolbar, it says "0% available, (plugged in, not charging)" and, accordingly, cannot run the computer on battery power. Is this definitely a problem with the computer's battery, despite it being only one year old?

Sep 27, 2009I have no sound coming from my speakers. I don't know of any specific trigger. A friend ejected my iPod and walked off with it, but that's the only action I can think of done on the computer for a while. Looking in the IDT Audio panel it says the following:
With no headphones in - it shows that I have a pair plugged in my middle jack.
With headphones on the left (mic) jack - it shows a mic plugged in and nothing else
With headphones in the middle - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)
With headphones on the right - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)........
Plugged In Xbox 360 Via LAN Now Wireless Is Screwed!
Sep 21, 2009I was in the process of trying to get internet access on my Xbox 360, so I plugged it into my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L305-S5921) and as soon as I did my wireless connection went from full connection to either local only or identifying (one of the two). So I no longer have internet on not only my laptop, but I still can't figure out how to connection share to my Xbox. This happened before, but somehow it fixed itself? I tried reinstalling the wireless drivers to no avail; it didn't fix the problem. So if anyone can help me diagnose this problem, This is pretty urgent because I need to be able to use the internet for homework.

So while im playing, after 10 min. the PC starts to make noise (humming noise). Jun 23, 2008I have been having issues with the .NET framework and my V-Ultimate 64 machine. I essentially can no longer sync with my ZUNE. (I do not want an IPOD, forget it). I wasn't able to do a machine repair I believe because of SP1... so I went out and bought another hard drive to put in the machine. I tried the following sites suggestions to install the new OS on the blank WD320 HD and had no luck. I had my machine stripped down to just the video card, an old plug style keyboard, no mouse and nothing USB plugged in.
NO LUCK either. My machine is AMD 6000+, two 750GB hard drives, Vista Ultimate 64, 4GB RAM, one new 320GB hard drive, all sata, two DVD roms (one disconnected) and dual NVIDIA Fatal1ty 8600's in SLI (one disconnected for the new install). Essentially when the installer finishes and attempts to restart to finish its install I get a blue screen? What is the issue?

I have tried upating drivers and that did not work, i think i see my problem: I have attached a capture of my sound screen from the control panel. Jan 5, 2008it's getting kinda boring now surely those nuggets over at microsoft are aware of all the problems with vista since i changed over i have made it a point to make sure i only use vista compatable hardware and software but that doesn't seem to help as the only stable software that runs(without crashing) was programmed for XP now that is just silly and a software company's excuse is ''we had to rush it onto the market'' so what does that mean, did they not even test their software now wishing i got a mac instead as microsoft and software company's need to pull their fingers out and start doing things properly i would rather wait 6 months for a game or app that actually works than spend the money to find out that it doesn't do what it says on the box all this due to the fact that not one app or game designed with vista in mind will run without crashing repeatedly over and over again so what does vista do other than try to look good not alot just gives you a headache as you wonder yet again why your computer has either crashed or just shut down what seemed to be an app or game that didn't seem to have a problem when it all of a sudden ends the app or game it even closed chess on me as it encountered a problem i understand that these things do happen but not on this scale this is just to often and microsoft really need a shoe put up there rear for not addressing these issue's sooner.

Apr 5, 2008I've installed windows vista ultimate x64 in a brand new Gateway GT4220m that originally came with Windos Vista Home Premium. After the drama to find the required drivers for it, all seemed to work fine. All updates for the system and the drivers where downloaded. Anyhow, suddenly the system started to show a warning telling that there was a problem with the STacSV.exe
Now it does not appear very often, but the system freezes and it is needed to reinitiate it turning off the machine. I've noticed that it hapens when I use itunes, WM or play pictures in a presentation mode. If the machine goes to hibernation mode, it won´t wake up, so it is needed to turn it off again. I am unable to use the windows media center as well. Would it be OK to reinstall all the drivers? Do I have to run the Windows Vista installation in repair mode or reinstall it clean again ?
WMC Popping Open Constantly

Sep 24, 2009Recently, it seems, a lot of vista machines are experiencing explorer crashes. Mostly mine are from ntdll.dll but they are all split. It also mostly crashes when I move files, open control panel, or right click, the latter being the most significant. I have disabled every programs' context menu to see if it was that and nothing. It still crashed. ShellExView doesn't seem to do any good either. I've been using autoruns from SysInternals. I'm going to upload all the crash information.
Other than that there isnt much else to explain. Usually I'll be working along then boom, explorer is restarting... It even did it to me just from adding a quick launch icon. I have no idea what the cause is. Well here are the crash events in order of occurrence, top being most recent:......
CPU Running Too High Constantly
Apr 1, 2007CPU is running a constant 50%. I have only had this computer for a month and at first it did not do this. then it started every couple of reboots then almost every reboot, but for a while i was able to boot to safe mode and tool around for a bit and then reboot normal and everything would be in sync. I can tell when the comp is booting up if the CPU is going to act up or not, the circle thing by the mouse during the boot up gets jerky and the intro music will be off from the visual..
i have tried turning off the OC but this has no effect. i have to have the OC or the system severely lags. right after this started if i would adjust the OC level it would have some effect ie.. make the cpu normal but now i can do what ever i want and it sits at 50%. While this is happening there are no apps running. and the standard processes but none using more than 04% of the cpu......
Windows Constantly Reboots Itself
Sep 15, 2009recently windows has started to reboot itself after sitting idle for a while. I just got this computer in January of this year so it came with Vista preloaded and I am relly getting frustrated with this. I thought it might be virus associated but Norton does not report anything.

However, the automatic update seems to have overwritten my network configuration from the original. RapportService.exe Constantly Running
Aug 5, 2009I noticed that my curser kept having the little blue circle come up to signify something is working in the background, this has happened for the last 2 days. I have checked and RapportService.exe is constantly running even when not connected to the Internet and uses up to 50% of CPU. Following advice from previous threads I downloaded Malwarebytes and it has found 2 things and deleted them, they were Adware and Wormp2p. However RapportService.exe is still wirring away. I know this is the software from the Banks so am worried that someone is trying to attack my PC and that it is why it is constantly going. I upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 yesterday so dont know if that has any bearing on it. Also have Norton 360.
