You had better not be using Linux because they don't support Linux. "Most Linux users are serious computer users. We?re geeks, and geeks use a lot of internet. Wouldn?t it be wise of AT&T to just acknowledge us?" Linux users are an oddball bunch of less than 1 percent of the desktop populous.
"This is not the first time I?ve run into problems with AT&T pretending that the world consists entirely of Windows and Macintosh. Once I was helping someone else get a Linux system going with AT&T DSL, and they flat-out refused to give her the manual setup instructions for the connection if she couldn?t use the automated Windows or Mac installer. The tech told her? If you run Linux you should be able to figure it all out on your own. I won?t help you, and I won?t transfer you to anyone else.".............
The internet connection is in Linux (Host OS).
I am just eager to know if i have Windows as a guest OS on Host OS(Linux), is it less possible for Windows to get infected by virus ?
If Windows crashes, is there a mechanism to recover it from Host OS(Linux) ?
Also, is there any mechanism to debug windows .

View 4 Replies View RelatedTraumatic brain injury (TBI), also called acquired brain injury or simply head injury, occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. TBI can result when the user installs a LINUX based Operating System on his or her computer. Objects soon appear to pierce the skull and brain tissue. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. A person with a mild TBI may remain conscious or may experience a loss of consciousness for a few seconds or minutes. Other symptoms of mild TBI include using Open Source software like OpenOffice, GIMP,. Galeon, Mozilla, Bluefish, VI, or a host of other applications.
Using versions of LINUX causes problems with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking. A person with a moderate or severe TBI may show these same symptoms, but may also have a headache that gets worse or does not go away, repeated vomiting or nausea, convulsions or seizures, an inability to awaken from sleep, dilation of one or both pupils of the eyes, slurred speech, weakness or numbness in the extremities, loss of coordination, and increased confusion, restlessness, or agitation. Anyone with signs of TBI should remove LINUX from their machines right away. Installing a Windows based solution should help stabilize an individual and focus on preventing further injury.

I deleted all files thinking I would just be able to install it and get it over with. So now I do not have any operating system installed. Everything works fine up to the point where it restarts and I get to
the Completing Installation (Last step) and it will run for a while on that point and the screen will flicker twice and after a moment the computer will lockup and then it will not go any further. The computer I am using is an Acer Aspire 5515.
I have one pc installed with vista business and I have license key of vista enterprise which we have purchased. I like to upgrade windows vista business to windows vista enterprise without uninstallation of vista business.

View 7 Replies View Related"By October the story was different. MSI claimed Linux netbooks were being returned four times as often as Windows netbooks. Their internal research showed this could be attributed to consumers being turned off by an operating system which was different to what they were used to." People hate Linux when they try it. No amount of "free" is able to overcome this.
"They then took it home, found they couldn??t use it exactly like their home desktop ?V itself an unrealistic expectation ?V and returned it, either giving up or opting to spend more money to buy a Windows XP edition instead." If you think you hate Linux now, wait until you actually try it. "In my home country of Australia the present federal Government promised laptops to school attendees during the election process.
Linux had the clear edge ?V no other significant operating system can be added without a licensing cost thrown in to the mix. Yet, the winning solution chosen by the NSW Department of Education (DET) was a Lenovo and Microsoft combination." When I attempt to copy/cut and paste (or even DELETE from desktop or wherever) (CTRL X, CTRL C, then CTRL V) or, even by right-clicking methods, I get the typical dialogue box: "Moving items...," "Deleting items...," etc.
The problem is that sometimes, only sometimes the documents move or are copied. Sometimes, (usually about 80% of the time) they do NOT. The dialogue box that states what's going on just freezes & hangs forever..............
I have had this problem for a while now, and it has really started to wind me up lately. I have read many threads and tutorials, and tried some out aswell, but nothing has worked unfortunately. Whenever I try to move or delete a file, the box comes up:
But then once that pops up nothing else happens, and it just freezes. I have tried leaving it for a while and seeing if it just takes time but also nothing happened. Even if I click cancel, it freezes. To close the window, I have to go into the task manager and close it from there, which restarts Windows Explorer. When renaming a file or folder, I can type the name I want in, but once I press enter Windows Explorer freezes and I have to go into task manager again.............
Im running Vista and IE8. Every time I try to move a file from one folder to another, "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and will shut down" appears. Does anyone know how to recify this problem?
