I have one pc installed with vista business and I have license key of vista enterprise which we have purchased. I like to upgrade windows vista business to windows vista enterprise without uninstallation of vista business.

I have Vist Home Premium on my new computer. I needed to upgrade for my job. I was told to buy the Business Upgrade. I did and it turned out to be the wrong product. You CANNOT upgrade from home premium to business. I am now stuck with this software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to upgrade from Vista Enterprise/SP1 to Vista Ultimate/SP1 Life is after all more than just work, and i would lke to use Media Center edition. In spite of the fact that I am a Volume license customer with SA and have paid extra for Ultimate media kits, there seems to be no way to upgrade from Enterprise to Ultimate. That is most unfortunate and frustrating as doing a clean Ultimate install may be an option in theory, but, with a mature Enterprise setup, not in practice! I know, by the way, about changing the word 'Enterprise' into 'Business' in the registry., however it makes no difference. The 'upgrade' option remains grayed out and I am being advised to install a 'newer' version?! The exsting setup is Enterprise/SPI and I am trying to go to ULtimate/SP1 which is certainly not older. So why is Vista complaining?

I would like to purchase and install Vista Home Premium but since I have a licensed copy of XP Home, I am wondering if a) I'm entitled to use an upgrade license of Vista, and b) can I install Vista Home Premium over top of the existing enterprise edition and reference the XP license keys when prompted?

I've got a production network that I'm test Windows Vista x64 Enterprise on. I'm at my witts end with this problem: I add the Vista PC to the Windows domain. The computer performs the tasks and then tells me it needs to reboot. Upon rebooting it immeadiately drops itself from Active Directory (Windows 2003 SP2 R2 based domain).
Oddly, the computer account in active directory is still there. The Vista client drops itself, but the server side thinks everything is fine. What the heck is causing this? There are no issues with IPv4 connectivity. (We don't use IPv6...) The server shows that the PC and the users are connecting to the domain securely, and without issues (pass security audits). The Vista Client (Enterprise x64) just drops itself from Active Directory.
I have to install Windows Vista Business over Windows 2000 on several school computers, then roll it back to XP. Do I need to remove the 2000 first? Need advice on the easiest way to accomplish this
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have some Dell laptops (d830, d620, d630) that has problems with the wireless networkcard (Intel Wireless 4965 AGN). Very often it stops to function after the computer has been to sleep. The wireless icon still apears in the bottom right corner with a red cross over it. When you click it it says that it's connected with limited access. The wireless card will not apear when you run ipconfig If you disconnect it will not connect successfully again It seems like it manages to find all availble networks, but you can not connect successfully to any of them.
I have tried to install this fix reagardless that I already have SP1, but this won't install. Probley because it has already been applied. Also tried the Regedit workaround mentioned in the KB. I have set the power option to high preformance, but it still happends when the computer is manual set to sleep.
It appears that Windows Media Player that comes with Vista Enterprise does not include the ability to play DVDs. When I try it says that no codec is installed. what I need to download, preferably for free, to either get WMP to play DVDs, or a free player that's not too obnoxious with ads. I tried installing the K-Lite Standard Codec pack, but either I did it wrong or it isn't enough.

I want to replace the Business on my main PC with Ultimate and then reinstall the Business version on a new PC with minimal rework. How do I do this. Can i upgrade the Business using the Ultimate key and then reinstall the Business and use the key previously on my main PC with the previous Business install (I assume I'd have o call MS to reactivate)???
View 5 Replies View RelatedDell Dimension 8300 about 5 yrs old, running WinXP Pro SP3. Tried to do an upgrade the last 2 days, and it appeared to go most of the way through the process. Walked in on it yesterday to check the status and found it cycling through the bootup screens. It first says that Windows didn't/can't start up normally and gives me 3 options - start vista, go back to the previous version or do a setup rollback. Then it goes to the normal F8 screen before it tries to load windows and begins the process again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically, I bought a Dell XPS M1730, this came with Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit. I then thought I'd have a look at Windows 7, so I installed Windows 7.... Yesterday I got fed up with it, fancied a clean wipe of the system and grabbed a Vista disc which I had (not one that came with the original machine, burnt from an iso obtained from my university). After doing a destructive install of Windows Vista, I found that I had installed Business. Now I did not see any options to upgrade to Ultimate (anytime just shows me "learn about the different versions of vista"), and I did not see any options when installing... Obviously I have no key for Business, so when the trial expires Im buggered, how can I get my hands on an Ultimate upgrade?

I have 10 licenses for Business and I wish to join a domain. Is there a way I can load Vista Business and apply my Business licenses to sort of "quasi-upgrade" my newly purchased machine which came with Home Premium to Vista Business? That is, other than a clean install (I'm trying not to have to track down all the drivers). There is no data on the machine now so I don't have to worry about data. I originally had Windows Vista Home but Business was all he had so that is what I tried using, both 32-bit. I deleted all files thinking I would just be able to install it and get it over with. So now I do not have any operating system installed. Everything works fine up to the point where it restarts and I get to
the Completing Installation (Last step) and it will run for a while on that point and the screen will flicker twice and after a moment the computer will lockup and then it will not go any further. The computer I am using is an Acer Aspire 5515.

I did have a few problems with Vista when I first got my computer, but after a couple of months of the odd freeze, I found Vista to run beautifully, with no problems at all.
I have learn't a lot with regard to computing and along the way have learn't to use the Vista OS, which I like enormously.
Having seen what Windows 7 offers, I don't see much that I would use, other than a few neat tricks here and there....
My question is, do I need to fork out the extra dollars for Windows 7 ?? ( I'd rather not ) And does anyone know how long Vista will be supported for??
I would hope I can hold on to 200 dollars for the upgrade and keep using Vista.
My impression, is that Windows 7 is pretty much a slightly improved version of Vista, which for me....is working beautifuly.
What is it - a costly upgrade or a service pack, which would have to be free otherwise?
