Can the linux operating system be removed and Windows XP be used instead?" Once again the users have spoken and they sure as hell don't want Linux. No wonder Linux sits at 0.6 percent of the desktop market and has for many years.
You had better not be using Linux because they don't support Linux. "Most Linux users are serious computer users. We?re geeks, and geeks use a lot of internet. Wouldn?t it be wise of AT&T to just acknowledge us?" Linux users are an oddball bunch of less than 1 percent of the desktop populous.
"This is not the first time I?ve run into problems with AT&T pretending that the world consists entirely of Windows and Macintosh. Once I was helping someone else get a Linux system going with AT&T DSL, and they flat-out refused to give her the manual setup instructions for the connection if she couldn?t use the automated Windows or Mac installer. The tech told her? If you run Linux you should be able to figure it all out on your own. I won?t help you, and I won?t transfer you to anyone else.".............

The KDE on Windows Project is aimed at native porting of the Linux KDE applications to MS Windows. Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista are supported. The KDE on Windows Project - Welcome to The KDE on Windows Project
Version 10 and it still has all the same glitches, endless code and incompatabilities it had since the beginning. Wireless support totally sucks, audio support is a jolk, and usually you have to settle with haveing one of the two work depending on which distro you install. I tried Linux for a third time when I saw the new version 10 and it still sucks. I now have XP back on my Eee PC and everything works as it should with no code hhaving to be written, or config to suffer from The age old question: what can windows do that Linux can't? Aside from everything in general the main answer is WORK!
Im Useing Windows vista and i was wanting to know if i can install Linux with Windows? i heard u can Install Two Operating systems on your computer. but will it work with Linux though?
I've been using Linux for a while exclusively lately due to some heavy issues I had with Vista a few months ago. While I was running Linux I decided to make my laptop OS Neutral. I Removed the Windows sticker, sanded down the windows key, and removed the OEM Windows Sticker on the bottom. My questions are:
1. Is it legal to remove this sticker? 2. Without the code that is on the sticker, will I still be able to use the Upgrade Disc to Windows 7 since my Vista will still pass WGA or do I need the codes that were on the sticker? If it was illegal then this whole situation is hypothetical)
I remember reading an old post by Tiberius/Tibery-OS that showed a link to that virtual machine software where you ran Windows right under the Linux taskbar(s). I now can't find it using search. I looked up all his posts under both names, still nothing. Does anyone have a link?
Sorry, not interested in being flamed/trolled, as seems to be the policy on this NG. I will Plonk immediately."...I fail to understand why they feel the need to convince people who are happy with Vista that they are wrong. That is aside from the self-esteem issues they must have ;-)?
Well, I made a huge mistake, and I am very tired at the moment, I just removed my windows XP off of the dual boot, later did I realize that my windows xp was actually the boot partition. So I tried to boot up and I got a error, so I reinstalled windows xp. But now the dual boot is gone and I have no idea how to get vista back.
i have tried this post in other forums but with no real reply. I have recently installed Ubuntu and dual boot that and vista. I am haveing problems in ubuntu regarding disk space. can i resize the Ubuntu partition using vista? i have a partition wizard home edition and this is what my disks are currently like.
I have received a safe email from a know source. However I can't access the attachment due to the following message: Windows Mail removed access to this unsafe attachment..." How do I find this attachment, if it still exists in my computer. How do I tell WM to let certain senders send attachments?
Traumatic brain injury (TBI), also called acquired brain injury or simply head injury, occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. TBI can result when the user installs a LINUX based Operating System on his or her computer. Objects soon appear to pierce the skull and brain tissue. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. A person with a mild TBI may remain conscious or may experience a loss of consciousness for a few seconds or minutes. Other symptoms of mild TBI include using Open Source software like OpenOffice, GIMP,. Galeon, Mozilla, Bluefish, VI, or a host of other applications.
Using versions of LINUX causes problems with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking. A person with a moderate or severe TBI may show these same symptoms, but may also have a headache that gets worse or does not go away, repeated vomiting or nausea, convulsions or seizures, an inability to awaken from sleep, dilation of one or both pupils of the eyes, slurred speech, weakness or numbness in the extremities, loss of coordination, and increased confusion, restlessness, or agitation. Anyone with signs of TBI should remove LINUX from their machines right away. Installing a Windows based solution should help stabilize an individual and focus on preventing further injury.
"By October the story was different. MSI claimed Linux netbooks were being returned four times as often as Windows netbooks. Their internal research showed this could be attributed to consumers being turned off by an operating system which was different to what they were used to." People hate Linux when they try it. No amount of "free" is able to overcome this.
"They then took it home, found they couldn??t use it exactly like their home desktop ?V itself an unrealistic expectation ?V and returned it, either giving up or opting to spend more money to buy a Windows XP edition instead." If you think you hate Linux now, wait until you actually try it. "In my home country of Australia the present federal Government promised laptops to school attendees during the election process.
Linux had the clear edge ?V no other significant operating system can be added without a licensing cost thrown in to the mix. Yet, the winning solution chosen by the NSW Department of Education (DET) was a Lenovo and Microsoft combination." Sounds like the people in charge of making the decision actually tried to use the Linux netbooks and gave up..........
"Recent and controversial benchmarks for Windows 7 leave an important question unanswered: 'Is it faster than GNU/Linux?' Here, at last, is a benchmark that pits Ubuntu, Vista and Windows 7 against each other on the same modern hardware. From install time to GUI efficiency, Ubuntu beats Windows and is often twice as fast. Where Windows 7 is competitive, the difference is something the average user would not notice. The average GNU/Linux user is now getting better absolute performance from their computer as well as better value than the average Windows user."
How can you keep the mail in the server after it is sent to windows mail. Express 6 had that option so the mail was avaliable on the server in case you used a different computer to review e-mails at a later time.
I have Avast 5 and it scanned and found two malware files. Here is the picture, They will not be deleted or to be moved to Chest. I can't get the whole information from that folder because it won't allow me to check from Avast. I also used two malware scanners. They found nothing about those two malware files. They also found some files from Spyware.MarketScore. Here is the log from malwarebyte,
I have a Toshiba X505-Q830 and it came with Windows 7-64 bit, I play Counter-Strike competitively and the mouse acceleration could not be removed which completely ruined my ability to play the game. So I popped in my copy of Windows Vista-64 bit and formatted and installed. Now my laptop is without the proper drivers for the internet and I have searched high and low for them but nothing is working.

Seemingly, people are using linux, that is, people whom can learn. Good for them. Thats one linux distro. I suggest Bleak Horizon as the next Windows version name.
Douche bag, is considered to be a pejorative term in Australia, the United States, Canada and New Zealand. The slang usage of the term dates back to the 1960s. The metaphor of identifying a person as a douche is intended to associate a variety of negative qualities, specifically arrogance and malice. In Vista.General forums, Douche Bag is usually associated with, Alias, NoStop, oh great, and kevpan815 who always post negative crap about Vista and try to convert users to Ubuntu.
i have windows vista on my laptop but, stupidly i downloaded a mac them and iv lost my vista iv tried everything i can think off the 1 thing left to do is get my hand on the vista disk.
I'm a newbie in this forum and am desperately seeking help for a problem I'm having with my Pictures folder. Please excuse the lack of technical jargon! I know it's sounds really stupid and I'm sure it's a User Based Problem but I seem to have lost my original Pictures folder.I've been going into the Pictures folder that had my pictures in it under my Personal folder, but am now trying to delete another Pictures folder that has cropped up. Everytime I delete the new one (that has heaps of dropdown folders off it) the original one stops working. Now I've tried going into PropertiesLocation of the original folder and restoring the default location (because it's currently showing the location as C:UsersKaiPicturesPicturesPictures). When I try to restore it to the default that comes up when I hit that button (C:UsersKaiPictures) it comes up with the Move Folder warning, I hit Yes, then get a error that says "Can not redirect descendant into parent, the specified path is invalid".
I want to try linux on my laptop, but I think I should probably backup the mbr before. My last attempt resulted in an unbootable laptop, complete vista reinstall plus all of my software and data 5hours+. The laptop (Compaq cq60) did not come withe a vista disc, only a partition that allows a restore to factory setup.
Ideally I'm looking for a freeware app that can hopefully create a bootable cd that would restore the mbr to pre-linux without grub installed. Any recommendations on a foolproof method. Google throws up lots of info that I either don't understand or I wouldn't feel confident with.
I've got a file in my vista /public/video folder and everytime I try to copy it to my linux box it keeps asking for a password. i've turned off the password protection in Vista, so what do I do?
it turns out that Nautilus (a commonly used linux file manager) cannot access Vista shared folders, it's a bug. It has no trouble with accessing Xp shared folders. Also, copying files from Vista is SLOW, about half the speed of Xp and linux.
/Network World/ ran a series of independent tests and discovered that Red Hat Enterprise Linux uses 12 percent less power than Windows Server 2008. The greener operating system by a significant margin? Linux.
so my Norton Internet Security expired on my Asus laptop and I uninstalled it and Norton LiveUpdate. My internet worked fine. Then I installed AVG 8.5 antivirus and as soon as I rebooted the machine my internet stopped working. It says "the connection keeps resetting" when I try and get on the internet, and I cannot update the AVG now. I did turn on the Windows Firewall right after restarting, but after turning it back off, I'm still without internet. I'm using a NetGear wireless router connected to a broadband modem.
I have an old icon on my desktop that I think I have done everything possible to remove but I can't seem to get it to go away. It is a "Network Magic" icon left over from some stuff that got installed with an earlier wireless modem. Everything associated with the modem has been removed from the computer. There is nothing associated with this icon ...it is just there on the desktop and annoying.
i am thinking of installing Linux on my pc but want to Keep vista as well. Does someone know exactly what i need to do or tell me which Linux looks/is best.
