Is it just me, or does IE8 have more bugs than a low rent apartment?! This is nuts! Links on web pages don't work, screen flashes back and forth to solid black when I move my mouse. What a nightmare! I found it listed in the 'Updates' area, and was able to remove it. I didn't know Microsoft was capable of releasing junk like this...

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using vista home premium 64bit. All updated, and wireless HP mouse battery is brand new and shows 100% remaining. When I am on a webpage and want to open something, I used to be able to double click on the left side of the mouse and it would open, all of a sudden this am, it doesn't work I have to click on the right side, then click on open.... to open anything, I am not sure where else to look, I checked the control panel but didn't find anything unusual under mouse.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I run the back up it always ends up with an error code[0x80070002] "system cannot find the file specified." I have tried to re boot and hold F8 and repair your computer but it seems that nothing happens. I have tried this 4 or 5 times and nothing. I put the reinstallation disc in but I dont know if I can repair the problem without doing a fresh install and losing all my files. I checked and I see a lot of people with the same type of problem with backups. Could this be solved or do I have to reinstall or should I get third party backup. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dell XPS 32 bit with 2046 MB memory, Intel Core 2 CPU.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using a different boot screen for awhile, with no issues. I updated to SP1 and everything seems to have went just fine. But it did, for some reason, change my boot screen back to the original. No big deal, I thought, I will just change it again. I did that, and it seemed to go fine until just now (a day later).
Now the boot screen once again is back to the factory boot screen, and I cannot get it to change to my custom. I can change the .mui file in the windows/system32/en-US folder (winload.exe.mui) with no problems. But when I restart, it is the factory boot screen.
My antivirus that came installed on my vista computer expired I guess because I kept getting allthese notices aobut it, so I clicked on i and it took me to a website to buy anitvirus 2009 for 50 bucks. I did that and got a registration key and entered it and everything seemed ok. But then aobut every 15 minutes or so, the security center box will pop back up on my screen interupting whatever I am doing. If I am typing, it minimizes my paper and brings up the box. If I am playing a game, it minimizes the game to show me the box, which often results in me becoming dead. What is goig on and how can I stop this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery second or so my disk access light on the pc flashes - Windows XP Premium SP1. I have tried every tool I can think of to try and find out why but I am at a loss. This is my fourth install and on the first 2 this didnt happen. I have switched off everything I can think of that may be causing this (prefetch, defender, indexing etc) bit it still goes on. Is there any way I can track down what is happening? Vista was installed 7 days ago.

I've had a total of 3 of these screens and am wondering how I can view what took place and possibly find out if there are any steps I can take to prevent the same thing from happening? Is anyone else experiencing this? I couldn't find anything in search function on several bases.

Whenever I minimize my game of halo, I can't bring it back up for some reason. It'll show in the upper left hand corner Halo, but it wont come up, I wait forever, and it never comes up, so I end up, closing it out, and ending the game. At first I tried to get used to it, but sometimes my screen will minimize because of updates, and other stuff, and its really annoying because I can't bring back up my game of halo. Since some sort of MS download (no idea which one) my screen goes black & can't always be brought back by plugging and unplugging. Now, even when I log on it is black. Ive tried to send files, and it finds and recognizes the files i want to send... but when go to transfer them, hte flashes the disconnected sign near the exit button. I cannot find a windows 7 group. Im hoping that this group will work. I have a netbook with windows 7. However windows 7 has this silly feature where if you drag a window off the screen it snaps back to the
frame fo the window so it cant be half on and half off. Because this is a netbook the screen is not big so I want to drag my windows off the screen so only half shows up. How can I turn this feature off so i can have my windows dragged half off the screen.
Vista Business + SP1. Very recently on opening Command Prompt ordinary or Administrator it flashes up briefly and then vanishes. THis happens whatever mode I use to open it. Start/Run/system32 etc.
I tried system restore but no joy. I can in fact get round this as I have put into System 32 the Cmd file from XP and this works as does the similar from W2000 but I would like to get my Vista one back. I cant see anything except it flashes up for two seconds so its there . Is this a corrupt registry entry. I did run SFC but no joy.
I have a micro innovation wireless mouse and kb, after a reboot I have to unplug the usb plug then plug it back in to get the mouse and kb to work

today, my supplier tested the motherboard in front of my eyes, and it worked fine THERE.
they said maybe it is your graphics card's driver (HD 4870) that makes this problem. so i came home, uninstalled the VGA driver and ATI HD Audio driver and STILL NO SOUND my speakers are fine (i tested them with another pc and with my mp3 player) and i installed the latest drivers for everything.
i also e-mailed Realtek technical support last week, and they didnt answer!
i asked in 3 or 4 other forums (tomshardware, anandtech, guru3d....) no one could help me
if u need to know anything, please let me know and here are some pictures, maybe they can help u to figure out what is wrong with my pc

Everytime I start Internet Explorer the screen flashes 20 or 30 windows with title "Windows Installer". After that, it works fine. This began happening after installing Vista64 with SP1. The first time I started IE after the install UAC prompted me about 30 times to allow Google toolbar, Flash, and HP to give administrative access. Every subsequent time I just get the flashing. Long ago I relocated the folders in my User folder to the D: drive. I'm suspicous this is a security thing perhaps related to permissions of the re-located folders, or a missing relocated folder, or one in an unexpected place but I haven't been able to figure it out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having some trouble with my screen saver. I have the picture viewer as my preferred screen saver but it doesn't seem to work at all. The preview image shows that I should be seeing something, but when I click the "preview" button, the screen goes black and doesn't cycle through anything. It is as though the screen saver is activated, but not cycling. All other screen savers work except the picture viewer. I use a nvidia 9300 GE, which I just updated the drivers for about 2 days ago.

When I unplug from the mains it dims, as normal but it will not brighten up again until I reboot with it plugged into the mains. Plugging the power back in doesn't work the brightness controls don't work, disabling auto dimming doesn't work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running a dell dual core with 2 gb of memory and a 200 gig hard drive, with Mozilla Firefox. In the past I have been able to peruse perhaps 15-20 web pages, reduced in size and it hasn't slowed down at all. All of a sudden after four or five windows accrue the computer comes to nearly a stop and it takes forever to load that last page. I have to wait a long time before I can even close the windows.
I have cleared all the temp files and cache, removed cookies and cleaned everything up.
I have a new machine with Vista Home Premium. I find when browsing in IE8 it works fine for a while then it just can't seem to load any pages even my home page. No message, just a blank screen and the green bar across the bottom sitting there about half way across and doesn't go any further as if it can't load the page. I have cleaners I have tried but the only thing that works is to restart my machine.

I tried to check for problems in connection, result was no problems found. Obviously I'm connected, because google works fine. Nothing else (virus, Win updates) does.

When I open task manger it indicates that the page is not responding. This happened approximately 30 times today alone. I have no idea what is causing this problem so I don't have a clue as to what to do to fix it.
