Apr 2, 2010Idles at about 140 degrees F, and when I watch a video or play a game, it gets to over 160. Is this dangerous for my computer? The fan works, and operates. I've tried opening it up and cleaning it out, and it didn't work. Its all like stuck between the heat sink and board or something.

Aug 17, 2009I was using the Dv7 doing 3D modeling with 2 models at the same time on my screen. I checked the temps at the time....87 Degrees Celegrade!!! I was like no way this is happening. I am assuming that this is bad. how to possibly cool this down or is it acceptable at times to have this happen when I am modeling? I need to get some canned air to clean it out some so that may make a difference.

Mar 23, 2008I have been using a different boot screen for awhile, with no issues. I updated to SP1 and everything seems to have went just fine. But it did, for some reason, change my boot screen back to the original. No big deal, I thought, I will just change it again. I did that, and it seemed to go fine until just now (a day later).
Now the boot screen once again is back to the factory boot screen, and I cannot get it to change to my custom. I can change the .mui file in the windows/system32/en-US folder (winload.exe.mui) with no problems. But when I restart, it is the factory boot screen.
Center Box Pop Back Up Screen Interupting
Nov 9, 2008My antivirus that came installed on my vista computer expired I guess because I kept getting allthese notices aobut it, so I clicked on i and it took me to a website to buy anitvirus 2009 for 50 bucks. I did that and got a registration key and entered it and everything seemed ok. But then aobut every 15 minutes or so, the security center box will pop back up on my screen interupting whatever I am doing. If I am typing, it minimizes my paper and brings up the box. If I am playing a game, it minimizes the game to show me the box, which often results in me becoming dead. What is goig on and how can I stop this.

Aug 6, 2009I was cleaning up my screen and keyboard with windex, foolishly, with the computer on, when somehow in the course of working on the keyboard I managed to flip the viewing area on the screen 90 degrees so that what was the short dimension (up-down) is now the long dimension (left/right). Some combination if key press' will put it back to normal I guess. But looking hard at the icons on the keys... its not at all clear which ones.

No matter what I try, I've had it set to "never" to its current 5000 Minutes. I've tried several different power plans, all with no joy! The only way to resolve it is with a hard shutdown (unplug)! I never had this problem with any of the installs; just after the hardware additions.

Whenever I minimize my game of halo, I can't bring it back up for some reason. Dec 20, 2008When I start my laptop up, just normally, I log in. I have that thing where I have to log in using a username and password, something that I downloaded and put into my registry. Anyway, all the time, when I log in, it takes forever to load up, it just stays as welcome and doesnt load. I left it for half an hour and it still hadnt loaded! So, I turned it off and on again, and it worked. But, a couple of times, I had to turn it off and on about 5 times ,and when it didnt load, I had to start it again in safe mode. THEN it worked. But, I hate safe mode!

Sep 16, 2009I am using Vista Home Premium 64bit and Trend Micro anti virus+ anti spyware. I was playing 2moons for about three weeks before this happened. Changes that have occured include me being made an admisinstrator and UAC being turned off. I started playing 2moons and after a minute it froze up. Trend Micro alerted me that a program was trying to make unauthorized changes and it didn't help when I allowed or didn't allow said change.It now happens everytime I run 2moons but only that program. I tracked it to my LocalTemp folder and its name fluxuates. Its called yvnta.sys and will move around the first three-four letters each time it tries to change something. I scanned it with TM but it found nothing. its about 10 kb. Is this a legit sys file, if not should i delete it? Let me know if you need more info. I moved it to the recycle bin and ran the program agian, now there is another file named yvatn.sys. they are now both in the recycle bin. Could it be coming from 2moons?

I turn it on an everything is hunky dory until the next time I boot up and we have to go through the same process again. This is only a recent thing and as far as I can tell the system is clear of viruses and spyware. Can anyone offer me any insight? (It may or may not be relevant but anti-virus software (Kaspersky 7.0) is suddenly not visible to the Security Centre either.
