Has anyone figured out when and how we can embed some mp3 music to emails we send. It is one of the functions I always loved in OE, but since Vista arrived with Windows Mail it has gone. It used to be simply a matter of Format/Background/Sound and indeed you can still do this in Vista Mail, but it will not allow itself to be sent. Indeed you get shown a rather ambiguous error message which states,
" One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this message? And you have a YES?NO option. Can anyone tell me if its a known fault that will be addressed by MS.? or possibly whether there is any add-on or indeed software that could assist.
I cannot open any types of files sent by email in Windows Mail or Hotmail, of downloaded documents through IE. Using a pretty new Dell laptop with Vista, really need to get this sorted as I am a distance learning students with loads of journal articles to download!
I am experiencing difficulty concerning file association with email shortcuts as can be seen in the attachment. When I click on what I think is my email shortcut, I receive the attached message.
This has only started within the last days and wonder if anyone can instruct me how to correct this error.
Recently started using vista on a new computer. When receiving email in vista mail I cannot open attachments with .pps file. It will open if I save it. The file extension is correct in the directory for vista to open it. I noticed a similar problem in the forum for .doc files but the fix for that did not seem to address the .pps files.
when I clicked on the Receive/Send All button to update my emails. However, the emails from my account were not uploaded to Windows Mail after the process was successfully completed.
Is there a way to stop compression? I know that for a fact that when you delete email after you have received them, they do not go away. Instead, they are merely stored in one file and then compressed. I would like to be able to delete and not just compress them in an ever bigger file. I don't know if this question has ever been asked before.
I recently permanently deleted several e-mails from the deleted file and need to recover them. I have seen different software packages claiming to do this. I am not a Geek (no ofense) and just have basic computer skills. My question - are these softward applications easy to use or do you need to to have higher skill levels? Is is safe to download directly from the internet?
When trying to open any attachment with the extension .email I get the dreaded message that there are no programs that will open this file and I have to create an extension in the Set Associations Control Panel. I have Vista OS 32 bit Home. All other extensions .eml work just fine and are shown to be opened in "Windows Mail" but the .email extension just will not open.
when i turn on my computer, an error message comes saying "Windows failed to load because a file is missing or corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221" This started when i was clearing my computer of useless programs, and after i deleted Realtime player or Quicktime player, (can't remember which) an error message jumped from the taskbar saying something about Network device driver. After that every time i start the computer, the "Windows failed to load" message pops up. The first half a year, it was solved by pressing enter, to "Choose an operating system to start: Windows Vista" and then to "Windows error recovery (start windows normally, safe mode etc)" and back to "Windows failed to start", repeating it 3-20 times. Then i had a familiar "Unexpected shutdown" during a game, and now, the "Enter spamming technique" doesn't work anymore. All i can access at the moment is Windows memory diagnostic tool, and Bios setup utility. Is there any way to fix this through the setup utility or some other manner?
I have two versions of Eudora on my PC but only one (Eudora 8 beta) is recognized in file folders that contain *.jpg files (as of today).
Before today, I would highlight a JPG and click on Email at the top of the open folder. Eudora 7.1 would come up and all I had to do was put in an email address. I should say that I use Eudora 7.1 with two sets of data - one for me and one for my wife.
However, my wife's version would come up which is what I want. As of today, Eudora 8 beta comes up when I click on Email. I have no idea how the association changed.
I also don't know why my wife's version of Eudora 7.1 used to come up instead of mine.
There must be a way to reset the association. I tried resetting the association in Internet Explorer - but only Eudora 8 beta is available as a choice. That's another problem. Why isn't Eudora 7.1 a choice in file associations in Internet Explorer 8?
I have Vista on my new computer and my husband recently added a signature to his email file at work with a logo. I can no longer see his text in the emails he sends to me. I also cannot type anything in the email created when replying to these messages. I should note that he has Vista at work also on some of their computers including the one he uses and he has none of these issues. Is there a setting I need to change? I've searched the internet along with this site for a solution and haven't seen this particular problem. If need be I can send the email property details to show you. When I got to properties of the email and show the details, it shows the message included in 'part 1' of the message.

I had to reinstall Vista on my computer. Previously I used Outlook. I can't find the activation code so I want to try Windows Mail. I saved my Outlook email pst file. Is there a way to get Windows Mail to open that file.
Microsoft removed the legacy Windows Help .hlp file viewer, winhlp32.exe, from Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2. Dating back to Windows 3.1, Microsoft says the Windows Help components have not been updated in years and no longer meets internal standards. If you have an older application that still uses .hlp files and must be able to view .hlp files Microsoft has released an add-on that will restore the viewer...
When I try to send an email with an XML file attachment, the program (windows live mail) hangs and nothing gets to the outbox. I have to send it with a computer running XP.
My elderly Mother's Vista PC isn't working, and as she relies on this for shopping etc I need to get it working (I am several hundred miles from her). The PC tried to install the latest Vista updates (20/2/2008) but upon restart she gets the message "Windows failed to restart - a recent hardware/software change may be the cause - File windowssystem32winload.exe "The selected file could not be loaded". She doesn't have a start in "normal mode" option. I have walked her through trying system repair/restore using the Vista installation Cd, but after trying to restore she gets the message; "system restore failed due to an unspecified error; "cannot create a file when that file already exists" (0x800700b7) We have tried 3 different restore points with the same result.
There are discussions on this general subject but no aparent resolution. About two months ago I was sometimes prevented from opening photo attachments on some emails received from the same party and sometimes could open them. By this I mean, I would click on the paperclip where a list of photos would appear and I'd click on on photo and I'd get a message saying: "Windows cannot find file name (photo captions used by sender).jpg. Make sure your typed the name correctly and then try again." Well, of course I didn't type the file name; the sender did. I could click on the save attachments, and once saved to a folder I could open them from the folder. I forwarded the mail to others, and they report no problems in viewing the photos. I can also view the photos in the email itself, but it would be necessary to scan up and down and from left to right to view the whold photo and the caption would not appear.
Heres another one: The host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3', Server: 'pop3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D. I do not understand what any of this means -
i would like to know how to set up a windows email but i also have an account with yahoo. can you tell me exactly what to do. i get stuck on the sending emails. it doesn't let me pass through the server account and password.
Vista Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1 Virus/Malware scanners up to date, nothing suspicious in tasks, no odd performance issues...Description of Problem After "Something ?" Happened, Windows lost the ability to Default-open Rtf files in wordpad. This Had been the default behavior. *At the time, OpenOffice was installed, and when this problem first occurred, Openoffce WP “became” the default Open action. I uninstalled Openoffice, which only resulted in “blank” icons for rtf files. Doubleclicking (shell-default verb) only results in “Windows cannot open this file…use web service, or browse to find correct application”
1) OK, web service does absolutely nothing. (Is this blocked by default firewall settings?) 2) Clicking “browse for correct app” SHOWS wordpad as the default, “suggested” app. (!!!) The “always use this app” checkbox is checked. Basically, this “checkbox” is apparently broken, because Windows can’t associate the file with the app. It always forgets, or does nothing.............
As of a week ago I can not receive my email in windows. My ISP is O2. I get an error message and a pop up asking for my usernamen and password when I enter them it does not solve the problem but pops up again. I have checked all the information on the account. What I cant understand is that it has always worked perfectly until now.
