View 4 Replies View RelatedI've read several other similar threads but can't solve this. I can't get my outgoing pop3 mail to send through Gmail in Windows Mail. I've repeatedly checked instructions as given through many sites to make sure all the right ports are typed in for Gmail, all the right boxes checked. I even unchecked the box someone suggested in the Norton security outgoing mail filter, and I still get this message:
The host 'stmp.gmail.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Subject 'testing 123', Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'stmp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing right click on photo then selecting send to and mail recipient the following appears in the body of the e-mail: "Your message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments: (Photo file name) Note: To protect against computer viruses, e-mail programs may prevent sending or receiving certain types of file attachments. Check your e-mail security settings to determine how attachments are handled." Photo is attached to the e-mail and the photo file name appears in the subject line. Any way to eliminate the above from showing in the e-mail?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to attach photos to my hotmail email message like I formerly was able. by clicking on attach and pulling down "photo" from the choices. photo or file. This resulted in a box with thumbnail images of the photos in a folder I had chosen. My option now available in hotmail simply allows me to browse for a file to download, so if I want to attach 10 photos I have to choose each separately and the download is very much slower than it was with the other arrangement.
I looked on another desktop computer I have and I'm guessing I need download Microsoft Photo Upload Control on my laptop (Windows Vista). My desktop uses Windows XP. However, my laptop used to work fine with how I like to attach photos. I don't know if I updated some software that made the difference or what. I recently started using Mozilla Firefox, also. I can't remember if the photo attachment problem existed before Firefox was used or not.
I am using Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail 6.0 (brand new computer, and I am not used to Vista and Windows Mail). I have sorted out most issues, but run into problems when I try to send an email with an attachment. I find the Word-doc on my disk and attach it correctly, but when I press send, Mail complains that it can't find the document. This is a stand-alone PC with my user as the only user, and with all admin privs. I have turned off the annoying feature of UAC. I have also installed MS Office 2007 Home, and from a word-doc, I can't send the doc to Mail (this option is greyed out).

How do I change my outgoing email from port 25 to port 80
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I send an email with pictures embedded in the body of the email, all the recipient sees is a bunch of red x's. Typically, what I am sending is a forward of something someone else sent to me. Since I received and viewed the pictures just fine, clearly the problem is not in how the pictures are in the email. The preview of my outgoing email always shows the pictures just fine. But the recipients never can view them.
I have a Vista computer, and am using Windows Mail with my Cox email account. My wife is on the same computer. We have separate user accounts. She has the same setup as me - Windows Mail with her Cox email account. The security software is Microsoft Security Essentials. We had previously been using McAfee. My problems remained the same under both softwares. My wife has had no problems with sending pictures. She will receive the same email as me, forward it to someone else, and they can vie the pictures just fine. She can forward an email to me, and I can view the pictures. But if I forward that email back to her, like everyone else, all she sees is red x's.
I have been using Windows mail for months without problems. I have made no changes.
For some reason, I can receive, but not send. Everything goes into my outbox.
I dont understand what the incoming mail server and outgoing e-mail server means. Ive read the help info but I still dont understand what Im supposed to put there.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago, I realized I could no longer send email. Same goes for my laptop on my home wireless network. Everything has been working fine for years and I don't recall making any changes that might affect the email. I have changed to port 587 and checked the authenticity required box but it didn't do any good. I went through Comcasts instructions for setting up email using Windows Vista, but it's still a no go. Another suggestion I read about is email scanning software. I turned of Norton 360 email scanner but it didn't fix the problem.

Having used my present system on Windows Mail for a year it has suddenly decided not to send emails. I have looked at previous posts and tried everything - the message error I'm getting now is 0x800CCC7D. It's happening with all posts even one which is just a receipt message from an incoming post. I have AVG virus cover and Super Antispyware but have tried to find out if these are relevant the problem and had no joy.
