Windows Vista Ultimate. In Windows XP, I used to manually clear Cookies, Temp files and Internet Temp files from the Local Settings (after enabling the file extension views from Tools > Properties > View tab). How can I do this in Windows Vista Ultimate ? I found only Temp folder under Local in the Explorer but not the Cookies folder and Internet Temp folder.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just tried to uninstall Vista OSX 4 via its uninstaller, but nothing seems to have worked. All the icons are that of MacOS, same goes for the login and bootscreens. But nevermind the last two, I will deal with them myself. What bothers me is that I cannot find IconCache.db nowhere on C: in order to delete it and reset the icon cache as described here, on vistax64.com. The other method (switching back to 16-bit colors also did not do the trick). Mainly my concern is for the explorer icons - system drives, start menu icons (Computer, Control panel...)

I'm looking for a way to clear that list, but first I need to know what it's called.
So far I know it's not considered a "Form" because Clear Form Data doesn't remove it. It's also not "Inline AutoComplete" because I've got that turned off. It's also not "Search from the Address Bar" because I've turned that off as well.
How to clean out the cache files for this thing, i think i did, but not 1oo% sure!

settings" is a link rather than a subdirectory, and when I try to expand it I get "C:usersusernamelocal settings is not accesible. Access is denied".I'm logged in as administrator, and I have set folder options->view to "show hidden files and folders" and to not "hide protected operating system files".I get the same error when I try to expand "C:usersusernamestart menu". What do I need to do to be able to navigate these links and view and edit the folder contents?
The other day gmail started complaining that my cache was full so I cleared it and increased the size to 1024MB. This did not stop the error so I looked a little deeper and the issue appears to be that IE7 is not caching anything at all - at least, the "Temporary Internet Files" folder is empty.
This leads me to consider a permissions problem, more so as I have moved the Temp Internet folder to another partition. I have set the permissions on the drive and parent folder to give "everyone" full control. This has not resolved the problem. Some files have appeared which I think have come from Windows Media Player but websites are not showing up, not even cookies. rss.xml files have also shown up after a reboot from sidebar news gadget (even though it's not running?!).....
I've tried resetting the local cache files - no change. Can't see any options on WinMail to "ignore your own posts". Windows Mail is version 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205)

Monitor runs at native resolution and I have also tried to change clear type to on/off. Am I the only one having hard time reading a text on Vista after upgrading from XP?

But now, whenever I try to uninstall or install anything I've downloaded or try to update something or even change my firewall settings or system restore, I get a message that says: "The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry." I don't know what to do. D: I'm freaking out here. I've been to so many different sites with this problem and I haven't seen anyone else who had it. v.v Someone please help meee! View 4 Replies View Related"The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry". I get this error every time I try to install or update just about anything. I had this same problem a while back and couldn't find any answers so I called DELL and paid for them to fix it because this is my business computer and I needed to install something right away. I just chalked it up to the price I have to pay for my LACK of computer skills. It worked fine for several months but now it's happening again and I don't want to pay for it again. I would like to try the quoted fix but I have no idea what "that user control THINGY" is or how to turn it off. BTW, my OS is Vista 32bit and I have McAfee Security Center installed.

Using Vista at home (dunno wot flavor at the mo as I'm at work now - sorry). I use Firefox browser. I know that FLV streams I download are cached in a directory, in my case called " C:UsersGrazTreezAppDataLocalFLVService " Problem I have noticed is that after I have streamed several clips onto my PC, and then I go to view them, some are not there, ie the earliest ones I downloaded arent there. The latest ones will be though. I can dbl-clik on those and see them ok. Theory was that I would download a load of clips at once, then simply view them at a later time, but since some are not viewable now it appears I cant do this. They simply aren't listed in the directory. Question is, if this cache of streamed clips is one bucket of a certain size, can I alter its size to be bigger ? OR,if it is not one size, can I alter this directory/cache spec to be a bigger size in any way so that it will take eg: 1Gb of data before starting to delete stuff ? OR, can I turn off the deleting process so it will all be saved, rubbish an'all? HDD space isn't an issue. I have TB's spare. I dont know if I'm talking browser (Firefox) or Windows or Flash size limitations here, so any pointers would be welcomed.

We have some new Visat pc's added to our network and all of them are showing the same problem. What happens is when the users start the pc's they get a message saying the IP address is in use and they have to go and manually change the address to get working. All the pc's are configured with static ip addresses and have been checked to make sure they are on different addresses. Has anyone got any ideas on what is causing this? I have seen one workaround which involved adding some batch files to the startup routine to swap between static and DHCP but I do not want to go down tis route.

Since my upgrade to Vista Ultimate (RC1 build 5600) from XP, I haven't been able to manually dim the screen on my laptop. In XP, I could hold the Fn button, and hit F5 to dim, or hit F6 to brighten the screen. This doesn't work on Vista. I have a Vaio FE770G notebook, 1gb ram, 128mb graphics card.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy computer (Vista 32 SP2) freezes and I turn it off manually and start again and all is OK for a while. It seems to freeze at any time even when I am not doing anything. This has been happening for 8-9 months but the problem went away in winter so I seem to think this might be the fan. I have done a clean boot and still it happens. I have uninstalled Vista and reinstalled and still the same so it is not any programs that I might have. As summer is not far away (Australia) I would like to fix this problem as it has started to happen again. I have taken the unit to Acer but they seem to think it's OK they said it was a memory conflict but that is not the case. What else can I do?

I can easily get it dead stable at 3.2 GHz, with the RAM running at 1066 (rated specs) and manually adjusting the timings to 5-5-5-18, also spec. But if i start going any higher the system starts getting quirky - particularly when I resume from standby - it goes south with a BSOD. Gunter, I know you wanted pics, but let's keep it all consolidated in here and start keep it to a relative few people.

I can put the computer to sleep from from the shut-down menu manually--i.e., where you see "restart," "shut down," "sleep," etc. with no problem. But for some reason from my power plan option, which I set at control panel, it won't go into sleep automatically. The monitor will shut off, but everything else--hard drive, fan, etc.--keeps going.

I modified the properties of the file extension so it would open, play the sound, the close. In Vista, I can't seem to be able to edit the Open or the Play aspect. How can I do this in Vista. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem since a month before SP1 came out. I never installed the beta. I have Vista Ultimate 64bits all updates done. When i shutdown my computer turn off correctly. Then within 10 to 60 second the computer turn on. First time i thought i hit restart or hibernate by mistake. I never use these 2 usually because hibernate scrap a hardisk and restart never sure memory cleared (i'm a programmer so i play with memory alot) so i prefer shutdown and power back manually.
So i tough next that Wake on Lan was my problem. I check by bios and it's fine it's off. I updated my bios and same result the problem still there. I searched the net without any result. What's weird is if i shutdown my computer and when i saw it power back on i hold right away my power button so it shutdown before windows even think of starting it turn off and never ever power back on by itself..............
