What Name Is Used For The Server's Print Queue Name And What's The Purpose Of It

Feb 6, 2009

From the manifacture, the printer has a netbios name, a model number, its driver's name, its LPD queue name. On the server, the administrator assigns a print queue name and an IP address. what name is used for the server's print queue name and what's the purpose of it. On the other hand, why do we need the LPD queue name if we send the print job to printer's IP address? Lately, printers manufactures allow any remote queue name for LPD queue name .... how does that work compare to the specific LPD queues names?

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 Can't Installed

I'm thinking that because the card was installed OEM, the individual identification types, do not actually apply to my system setup. The information tags that I have on the Laptop give the following details;.....

NVidia GeForce Go 7300; Runaround, Device Manager Washes

Oct 11, 2008

I am experiencing a Catch 22 problem with the NVidia GeForce Go 7300 Drive that was pre-installed as part of my system. I have experienced a number of problems with this unit, all reported to Microsoft Windows for solution. Their response; Attachment 7159

I have been through all the recommended troubleshooting steps, without success. NVidia don't want to know because Acer installed it, Acer just don't want to know, and Windows just keep passing the buck. The Device Manager washes its hands on the issue with; Attachment 7160

So on one hand I'm being advised that I have a problem, and that it has been reported [MS Windows], then the answer is given that there is no solution [MS Windows] but if you'd like to check it out, here are four options [each in turn involving NVidia, Acer and MS Windows]..And oh! By the way, you won't find your solution here, either....because nobody in the list will accept any responsibility to help in any way to resolve the problem......Ya!Ya!Ya!....."Catch 22". I think that this Version is Force Ware Vista 97.55, as it shows up in my System Information as 'system32drivers vlddmkm.sys(7.15.10.9755, 4.24MB - 18/01/07.

Clear The List Url History

Mar 5, 2009

What's the name of the feature that tracks the things you type into the address bar and then populates the dropdown list of the last 20 you entered as well as generating a list of past sites you've typed as you type in a new URL? I'm looking for a way to clear that list, but first I need to know what it's called.

So far I know it's not considered a "Form" because Clear Form Data doesn't remove it. It's also not "Inline AutoComplete" because I've got that turned off. It's also not "Search from the Address Bar" because I've turned that off as well.

settings" is a link rather than a subdirectory, and when I try to expand it I get "C:usersusernamelocal settings is not accesible. Invalid Password: Setup And Changed User Password From Set To Clear But Left Other Passwords At Set

Oct 31, 2009

I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

Getting 64-bit PC To Print On A Win/XP

Aug 6, 2009

After trying at least a dozen suggestions without success, I followed this procedure to be able to print on a locally attached printer on a network PC with Win/XP home from another PC on the network that is running Vista Home Premium 64-bit ......

1. Open the Printers folder on the client computer from which you want to print, right-click a blank part of the window, click Run as administrator, click Add Printer.

2. In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a local printer.

3. On the Choose a printer port page, click Create a new port, select Local Port, and then click Next.

4. In the Port Name dialog box, type the network path to the printer to which you want to print. For example \server1printer1 (where server1 is the computer name of the print server and printer1 is the share name for the printer). Then click OK.

Note: Creating a local port instructs the client computer to use its own printer driver to render the printer as a RAW print job and send it directly to the port (which in this case goes to the print server). This obviates the need for the print server to provide feedback to the client, which can work around some authentication issues, as well as issues with mismatched driver versions on the print server and the client computer.

Print From X64 To XP X86

Jul 5, 2008

I have a few pcs networked together. All are running XP x86(using windows firewall) and have a different printer installed on each. I recently added a Vista x64 pc to the mix, it has no printer connect directly to it, and it can access all the other pcs from it(file sharing is good, same workgroup). My problems is that I cannot print from the Vista x64 system to any of the other Xp x86 systems. I have tried installing the 64 bit and 32 bit drivers on the Vista machine - Add printer - Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer

-(I can see all the printers on the network) I select any and get this error message: The server for the 'HP Deskjet 1280' does not have the proper driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK. Otherwise, click cancel cancel and contact your network administrator or original equipment manufacturer for the correct printer driver. - OK - i select the 64 bit drivers and receive this error message: Windows cannot locate a suitable windows driver. Contact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver - when i try the x86 bit driver i get this message : Printer driver setup. Operation could not be completed(error 0x800f0214).

Try To Print Nothing Happens

I've tried everything I know of to get my Brother intellifax 4100 (USB) to print. It shows up as a printer icon and even says it's the default printer. But when I try and print nothing happens. No document even shows up in the print cue. At first it self-installed (but still wouldn't work) then I installed it on the virtual usb printer port. Don't really know what I'm doing in that area. In any case, it says it's properly installed but it acts like it's not even there. Everything was fine on the XP system - sorry we switched.

Networking To XP To Print

Mar 23, 2008

What happened in this case is I installed the printer just like any other network printer, but it doesn't print. I see the job in the queue, it spools, prints and then the queue is blank but nothing comes out of the printer. And there are no errors. I have verified from the XP machine the printer does work. I found another article in Microsoft's TechNet Forums.

It says to add a NEW local printer and use UNC naming to add the printer to the intranet. I have done this before at work with no problem. Vista is suppose to have these drivers built in, but when we tell it to add the printer after filling out the path to the printer \computernameprinter (using the shared name) it asks for the location of the driver. I do not know where to look for this and when I go to HP's www site I can not download the driver as it says it's built into the Vista operating system and doesn't offer it for download.

Where would I point the wizard to for the driver? I looked in the windowssystem32driversen_US folder, but couldn't tell if I was in the right place. I guess I could just keep putting folders in until I found the right one

IE7 Unable To Print

I am running vista Business and am unable to print from any web page using IE7. The problem does not exist in Firefox or with any other application - Office 2007, Acrobat, etc. I am told that turning off 'protected mode' would solve the problem. Is there any fix that is a little less dangerous and time consuming? I have uninstalled and reinstalled printer [wireless] with fresh drivers. Printer is physically connected to a XP Home machine but attaching it to one of the Vista computers makes no difference.
