I had a HP PC running windows vista home basic, it crashed and was not able to boot in vista. Startup repair or safe mode did not work, so inorder to save data I installed vista business on top of it. The data is recovered and now when I try to boot to the factory restore it does not work, noticed in msconfig under boot.ini tab there is no boot record to the factory restore partition. Is there a way I can add in the record so that If I press F11 my PC will boot into the factory restore partition?
my computer keeps locking up betweenpages and sites also having problem with typing letters keep falling off words in sentence not sure weather 1 has anything to do with other--Question if i go back to factory settings what would happen to my upgrades and other stuff thaks Linda
I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 running Windows Vista Home Premium. My computer has numerous problems: it wonít load certain websites, windows updates wonít work, I canít load or re-download windows defender, I canít download software from Microsoft.comÖ..and so on and so on. I have searched and searched the internet and tried many solutions from many different forums with none of them working. My last resort is to restore the system to factory settings however that too presents a problem. The files in my HP_Recovery drive have been deleted and the recovery disks that I created were lost when I moved. I know itís a long shot, but is there any way I can restore my system to factory settings without the HP_Recovery partition or recovery disks?
I need to do a complete factory reset on my Gateway. The restore discs that Gateway sent me no longer work (I've had to factory reset previously) and the OS disc that Gateway sent me isn't reading in my T-6835 laptop. Since I reset my hard drive previously, I don't have Gateway Recovery Manager. I do have a recovery partition though, but I can't access it for some reason or another. I have tried tapping alt + f10, f10, and r at the beginning but to no avail.
A few weeks ago my computer died from a windows update it automatically did, i managed to get back onto the computer by booting my OS disk to save my files and now i need to completly restore my computer back to factory settings. I Don't want to restore it back to a certain point, or repair my system as i log on, which is all i seem to be able to find in other posts, i just want to completly restore it back to day 1. F11 doesnt work when i turn my computer on (yes im doing it right and ive tried it LOTS of times), F8 brings up a screeen i dont want, booting from teh OS disk just boots the pc normally and alt F10 doesnt seem to be bringing the page that i need up, just an editing page.
I was recently given a Medion desktop pc (its a second hand one), and i want to recover it back to factory settings. I got nothing with the pc, no disks or anything. It has one HDD which is partitioned into two drives, one of which is called "recover" and contains what i assume to be files that will reset the pc to factory settings and install all of the orginal content again. This drive has no .exe file in it, or any other file extention that i can do anything with. The appears to be no program that i can find that will recover the pc.
how i restore it factory settings? Confused_ms p.s. The DVD-rom is not working at the min, so even if i did have a disk i wouldnt be able to use it. p.p.s. The pc has 2.8ghz processer (pentium D), 250gb HDD, 1GB RAM, Vista home prem OS Btw, the pc also has no internet connection, however i do have another computor so i can download things and transfer them over. (i cant set up my internet connection because they drivers i need to run the wireless adapter are on a CD and i currently cant run Cd's) edit: I think i might be making progress (assumin im heading on the right track?), when i press F10 during start-up i get the following come up on screen: EDIT BOOT OPTIONS Edit Windows boot options for: Microsoft windows Vista Path: windowssystem32winload.exe Partition: 1 Hard Disk: cb352c78 [ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN ] Then is says ENTER=submit ESC=Cancel Now am i right in thinking that the partition needs to be changed to 2? if so how to i do it, becasue it wont simply let me change it as the only thing i have acess to is the bit in (thats the only bit i can change or type in).
Would someone know of any utility or method to restore a SATA hard drive's factory full capacity size? During partitioning my drive, it went from 595GB (640GB Drive) to only 32GB. Since it is a 64-Bit system, I can't find a utility to restore the drive's full capacity.
I am having problems typing in the user name of my other computer in our home network. I type it in and it just defaults back to something else that's in there. like this... I will type in a word ..like..eclipse..for the user name and then type in the password in the box underneath...then it comes up as ..whatever/eclipse ...and will not let me connect. And I cannot get rid of the username that's in there.
Iím using a PowerPoint 2007 application for digital image competitions at my local camera club. I do not know PowerPoint, except to run this application, which was developed by others. It reads files to build a slide show. There are a couple of default options that need changing with each execution. Iíve figured out how to change these settings, but Iíd really like to just change the defaults.
1. Enable macros
2. Font size (filename that is displayed for winning slides). Please give complete ďclick here; click thereĒ instructions.
My OS is Windows Vista and for 2 months now, I have been accessing my yahoo mail via Windows Mail. For 1.5weeks now, I cant send out mail it defaults to my 'Outbox' and generate the following message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Forests of Africa. No smoking pliz', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F -- "Success is the Progressive Realisation of Worthwhile Predetermined Personal Goals"
I have an 8800GT and a 7600 GT Geforce card. The 8800 is for my primary monitor, a Nec, and also runs a small Dell. The 7600 is for two Dells. But when I go to Preferences in CS3 and check "GPU Settings" it says it detects the 7600 card, not the 8800. So then I looked at Vista color management and there it shows the monitor connected to the 7600 card as my default monitor. How can I change the default monitor to make it the Nec, which is already the primary? And will that cause Photoshop to then detect the 8800 card instead of the 7600?
I jsut finished applying Vista Business SP1 to my Vista PC and didn;t see any change as to why the default printer will never stay ad the default when the PC is restarted or shut off. Does anyone ahve any ideas as to why this is happening because the issu is getting old fast.
Installed XP Pro and Vista on separate partitions, hoping to update through Vista to Win 7. Changed strategy and deleted Vista, repartitioned HD. Now I still get a window at startup that defaults to Vista but gives me options to start XP. Would like to get rid of that Vista default so I don't have to hawk each reboot.
Why can't I use system restore to restore back to certain restore points? I was only successful twice with it. When my laptap was new and when I used it after re-formatting my hard drive. On all occassions after those two instances I can never restore back to any restore point. It always says that "unspecified error" line. If Microsoft doesn't know what happend, how could I. Why did they bother putting system restore if it doesn't work all the time anyway. It gives you a false sense of security.
I have made a mistake and I am struggling to get out of this mess, I hope Shawn or someone who experienced this problem can help me out.
I was doing the Factory state recovery using Alt+F10 while booting in my Acer Aspire laptop, everything was fine until the "Acer Launch" window appeared. The last process Install eRecovery solution is not completing. The AL window just sitting in the middle of the screen and couldn't be moved. I tried to disable it from startup, msconfig window vanishes behind the Acer Launch window.
I think the cause of this problem is I forgot to create the 2nd(D: data) partition prior to starting the Recovery process.
My original set up was like this:
EISA hidden partition
C: system partition
I have deleted the D: partition and extended the C partition
I have created Recovery disc but I don't have Vista installation DVD as my machine is OEM version of Vista on it. I do have an Anytime upgrade DVD which came with the laptop when I bought.
when i type a document in microsoft and it pops up type your key numbers in i typed them in from under my laptop they dont match i contacted hp but they never get back to me what should i do i think the wrong sticker was put on in the factory overis seas
We've bought an HP 2710p tablet and built up the pre-installed Vista Business OS to work on our network. putting domain, installing bespoke software, taking the pre-installed crap off, etc. A user had it and was working fine for a few weeks and his story was that it was running low on battery, so he plugged it in, then went away for a bit. He comes back and finds the thing re-installing itself to factory settings!
I found that hard to believe, but upon taking re-possession of it, that's exactly what's it done - seemingly no questions asked! A crash is one thing, but a complete automatic factory recover! Have to say we're not best pleased. Why would it do that and how do i stop if from doing anything on its own terms again?
my D drive is in red and apparently full. i am not getting the warning sign yet but was curious if I can somehow just delete this drive. yes i know that it is a recovery drive. we do have a recovery disk handy. when i click on it it says "warning this area of your hard drive comntains files used for your PC Recovery. Do not delete or alter....." so if I were to delete it will is mess my computer up? do i really need to back it up to a cd since i already have a recovery disk? is there a way to just keep the drive but not have the full red bar there?
I purchased a HP Pavillion DV2222tx laptop computer that came with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it. I then purchased Vista Business and installed without making a backup/recovery disk. I now want to put it back to it's factory condition and get Vista Home Premium back on it but can not seem to find how to do it. There is still 4.46GB of HP_RECOVERY on D:/ that you can not see what is on it. How get it back to factory. I have tried pressing F11 repeatedly on startup - that did nothing, tried repeatedly pressing F8 as well - couldn't work that one out and just do not know what to do now. When I installed Business it has taken away the Recovery Manager and I don't know what to do.
I tried running my HP Recovery Manager a couple of days ago and it kept freezing around 77% so I talked to someone at HP and they said I needed the recovery disks, so I ordered them. I tried using them today and HP Recovery manager freezes at 33% during the re-install process. Why is it doing this? It's driving me crazy.
I have a Dell insperon 530S. I think its time for a factory re-install. I am confused about how to save all my doc's, music, pix, etc before I do this. The kids use I-tunes, I have folders of music in different formats ( I think), we have Kodak and Olympus picture folders, old email in two different identities, and on and on. Is there a step-by-step on how to do this correctly, so I don't lose stuff and I am able to find and save everything I need? I'm figuring I will burn everything to a DVD or two, but I don't know....
cannot get links to open in windows mail. some are public mail such as nascar, and, some are orivate emails from friends, when i defaults, it says 2 out of 3 are working. i have to keep resetting default.
Anyway, can the recovery created disc you make at first use of your pc, restore your computer back to the factory defult after you do a complete clean install of another OS? Say, I go from the Vista premium 64bit that was installed in the laptops stock form, to Xp 64bit from a offical OS disc, back to the Vista 64bit factory install.... lol follow that? It sounds way better inside my head then it sounds read out loud. Maybe thats where it should of stayed...?
Also, the Vista key that is used on my laptop from the factory installed OS, can it be used If I were to try and use the same OS to do a clean install, but from an offical cd? Basicly, would my key that I am currently using, work if I use it on a OS disc install? I just want to make sure I can get this thing back to "fresh out the box" stands if need be. For the windows 7 update, or to return shortly if I can not get issues resolved on my own.
I have used my HP m7763w with Vista Home Premium for more than 2 years now, and finally got to the point of having to use my rescue CDs to reformat the HD and reset to factory setting. Unfortunately, I get frequent error messages now, and missing file notices, and Windows Update refuses to work. I understand that the old factory settings are way outdated by now, but what am I supposed to do to get it all working right, if Windows Update fails?
I'm new to Vista and all ready messed it up :-(The cleartype factory setting was actually very good, but as the geek I am I thought that I could improve it by using the Microsoft online cleartype tuner.... I was wrong - I've tried all the possible 16 settings but none of them worked very weel and now I can't find a way to reset my cleartype to factory setting
