when i type a document in microsoft and it pops up type your key numbers in i typed them in from under my laptop they dont match i contacted hp but they never get back to me what should i do i think the wrong sticker was put on in the factory overis seas
View 6 RepliesI bought windows vista ultimate in may of 2007 to upgrade from XP, it ran fine until feb 2008, when my graphics card failed and i thought my windows messed up, causing me to erase windows, so i had to take it to Data Doctors to get XP back on so i could upgrade to Vista, well now its not letting me activate my windows because my product key is already in use and im using the same key from my Ultimate box!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a multi-boot machine on which I cannot map certain folders to which I have access at work. I can map these folders with no problem when I boot to XP or Vista 64 on the same machine (using the same batch file for the net use commands) but I get a system error 53 (network path not found) error when I try to do so using Vista 32. As far as I can tell the network configurations are identical in the Vista 64 and Vista 32 installations.
In Vista 32 I can ping the servers on which the folders reside and I can map other folders in the same domain. How can this be=97and how can I correct it since Vista 32 is my primary working OS?
Well I started a small downloading spree when i got the machine built up and running, and this has me bamboozled. I Use Windows Vista X64 Ultimate edition. After downloading many different albums and such I ran into a problem. Some of them play but most of them don't. I use Windows Media Player for the audio and whenever trying to open up and music through there (or any music player rather) I run into problems.
1: It will have an error pop up first saying that "the file that you are trying to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. then it asks if you wish to continue.
2: After clicking Yes, It just says that windows cannot support the file error screen.
I went to the topic at Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs downloaded the 2 different codecs, but still no music.
This doesn't always happen but most times it does. The mouth doesn't match the voice when I'm in TV. 3.4 2 core Intel, 32 bit, Windows Media Center Ultimate. ATI Radeon X600 Video card.

Some of them I can can by deleteing and then re-creating the shortcut, other I can't. I tried the systems restore feature but it failed. It there some easy way to fix this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI guess the the app files kinda run by themselves when you double click them so it doesn't matter where they are on your computer. I could be wrong though. However what about the ZIP files? I remember once using the Dell resource CD and it would download some of these ZIP files...but they would put them somewhere in my program files folder. That is why I was willing to use the CD more since it would place these files in the correct place (I mean I'm not going to put them on my desktop for instance). So where do I put the ZIP files? There are only ZIP and application files.

I am using a video cature device to download video from a camcorder. When I play back the video on Windows Movie Maker, the sound and video will match for a while and then the video seems to slow down and the audio just keeps going. The audio and video do not match up!

I was doing the Factory state recovery using Alt+F10 while booting in my Acer Aspire laptop, everything was fine until the "Acer Launch" window appeared. The last process Install eRecovery solution is not completing. The AL window just sitting in the middle of the screen and couldn't be moved. I tried to disable it from startup, msconfig window vanishes behind the Acer Launch window.
I think the cause of this problem is I forgot to create the 2nd(D: data) partition prior to starting the Recovery process.
My original set up was like this:
EISA hidden partition
C: system partition
D:data partition
I have deleted the D: partition and extended the C partition
I have created Recovery disc but I don't have Vista installation DVD as my machine is OEM version of Vista on it. I do have an Anytime upgrade DVD which came with the laptop when I bought.
I had a HP PC running windows vista home basic, it crashed and was not able to boot in vista. Startup repair or safe mode did not work, so inorder to save data I installed vista business on top of it. The data is recovered and now when I try to boot to the factory restore it does not work, noticed in msconfig under boot.ini tab there is no boot record to the factory restore partition. Is there a way I can add in the record so that If I press F11 my PC will boot into the factory restore partition?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe've bought an HP 2710p tablet and built up the pre-installed Vista Business OS to work on our network. putting domain, installing bespoke software, taking the pre-installed crap off, etc. A user had it and was working fine for a few weeks and his story was that it was running low on battery, so he plugged it in, then went away for a bit. He comes back and finds the thing re-installing itself to factory settings!
I found that hard to believe, but upon taking re-possession of it, that's exactly what's it done - seemingly no questions asked! A crash is one thing, but a complete automatic factory recover! Have to say we're not best pleased. Why would it do that and how do i stop if from doing anything on its own terms again?
my D drive is in red and apparently full. i am not getting the warning sign yet but was curious if I can somehow just delete this drive. yes i know that it is a recovery drive. we do have a recovery disk handy. when i click on it it says "warning this area of your hard drive comntains files used for your PC Recovery. Do not delete or alter....." so if I were to delete it will is mess my computer up? do i really need to back it up to a cd since i already have a recovery disk? is there a way to just keep the drive but not have the full red bar there?

I then purchased Vista Business and installed without making a backup/recovery disk. I now want to put it back to it's factory condition and get Vista Home Premium back on it but can not seem to find how to do it. There is still 4.46GB of HP_RECOVERY on D:/ that you can not see what is on it. How get it back to factory. I have tried pressing F11 repeatedly on startup - that did nothing, tried repeatedly pressing F8 as well - couldn't work that one out and just do not know what to do now. When I installed Business it has taken away the Recovery Manager and I don't know what to do.

I tried using them today and HP Recovery manager freezes at 33% during the re-install process. Why is it doing this? It's driving me crazy.

The kids use I-tunes, I have folders of music in different formats ( I think), we have Kodak and Olympus picture folders, old email in two different identities, and on and on. Is there a step-by-step on how to do this correctly, so I don't lose stuff and I am able to find and save everything I need? I'm figuring I will burn everything to a DVD or two, but I don't know....

My computer has numerous problems: it won’t load certain websites, windows updates won’t work, I can’t load or re-download windows defender, I can’t download software from Microsoft.com…..and so on and so on. The files in my HP_Recovery drive have been deleted and the recovery disks that I created were lost when I moved. The restore discs that Gateway sent me no longer work (I've had to factory reset previously) and the OS disc that Gateway sent me isn't reading in my T-6835 laptop. Since I reset my hard drive previously, I don't have Gateway Recovery Manager. I do have a recovery partition though, but I can't access it for some reason or another. I have tried tapping alt + f10, f10, and r at the beginning but to no avail.
