View 4 RepliesWhen I turn my computer on, I get the message password or user name do not match. So, click the arrow to bring up accounts. I get Admin account and user account. There is also a second admin account. What is the story with that? Can be removed? When I log out of admin I then only get admin and user account to sign in.

The version of the Connector software does not match the version of Windows Home Server. Make sure you are installing the correct version of the Connector software.
On your home computer, delete the %ProgramFiles%Windows Home Server folder if it exists. Then install the Connector software from the Software shared folder on your home server, rather than from the CD. (Perhaps you have an old CD.) Connect to YourServerNameSoftware Home Server Connector Software, and then run Setup.exe.
My motherboard fried, so I got a new one and put everything back together, but low and behold when I moved I had lost my Vista CD, so I ordered a new one and when I type in the CD key that was on the box I get a message that says that it dosen't match the disk.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought windows vista ultimate in may of 2007 to upgrade from XP, it ran fine until feb 2008, when my graphics card failed and i thought my windows messed up, causing me to erase windows, so i had to take it to Data Doctors to get XP back on so i could upgrade to Vista, well now its not letting me activate my windows because my product key is already in use and im using the same key from my Ultimate box!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a multi-boot machine on which I cannot map certain folders to which I have access at work. I can map these folders with no problem when I boot to XP or Vista 64 on the same machine (using the same batch file for the net use commands) but I get a system error 53 (network path not found) error when I try to do so using Vista 32. As far as I can tell the network configurations are identical in the Vista 64 and Vista 32 installations.
In Vista 32 I can ping the servers on which the folders reside and I can map other folders in the same domain. How can this be=97and how can I correct it since Vista 32 is my primary working OS?
Well I started a small downloading spree when i got the machine built up and running, and this has me bamboozled. I Use Windows Vista X64 Ultimate edition. After downloading many different albums and such I ran into a problem. Some of them play but most of them don't. I use Windows Media Player for the audio and whenever trying to open up and music through there (or any music player rather) I run into problems.
1: It will have an error pop up first saying that "the file that you are trying to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. then it asks if you wish to continue.
2: After clicking Yes, It just says that windows cannot support the file error screen.
I went to the topic at Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs downloaded the 2 different codecs, but still no music.
This doesn't always happen but most times it does. The mouth doesn't match the voice when I'm in TV. 3.4 2 core Intel, 32 bit, Windows Media Center Ultimate. ATI Radeon X600 Video card.

Some of them I can can by deleteing and then re-creating the shortcut, other I can't. I tried the systems restore feature but it failed. It there some easy way to fix this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI guess the the app files kinda run by themselves when you double click them so it doesn't matter where they are on your computer. I could be wrong though. However what about the ZIP files? I remember once using the Dell resource CD and it would download some of these ZIP files...but they would put them somewhere in my program files folder. That is why I was willing to use the CD more since it would place these files in the correct place (I mean I'm not going to put them on my desktop for instance). So where do I put the ZIP files? There are only ZIP and application files.

I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem whereby when I try to access mail using Windows Mail, the programme pops up a window (entitled Windows Security) which asks for my user name and password... but it doesn't accept these when I enter them. Windows Mail had been working OK up until this started to happen yesterday. I have tried clicking tools, then accounts then properties and then re-entering the correct password and user name (ie the password and user name that I use to access the Internet... which, incidentally, still works OK for
Internet access)... but it still doesn't accept them. Everytime I try to send or receive email and enter the password and user name in the Windows Security window ... the window appears again and asks for them again.
My daughter has forgotten her password for her laptop. She has Windows Vista.When you turn on her laptop it comes up asking for a password straight away, this is the one that she's forgotten.
I thought that I could make a reset password disc from a friends computer who has Vista, but this doesn't work.
It allows me to put in a new password and question hint, but when I click next it comes up with 'an error occured while wizard was attempting to set the password for this user account'. Is this because I've copied it from another computer?
I can change her password as I don't really want to do a system restore as she has all her homework and pictures on there and don't want her to loose it.

We want it to require a password to see any emails, old or new, is that possible? The way it is now it asks for a password but if you hit cancel it still displays all the old email. I still can only log in with the old password. Someone else has access to my emails so just locking my computer is not an option because they can access my emails from their computer. So annoying! After restarting, however, it wouldn't accept the password! There's only my account and a disabled guest account, and I use the password for some of my online accounts, so I know I got the password right. I got back into Windows by using the password reset on my USB-stick, but it's weird... and it gets better! Today I locked the account while I was in the library, and when I got back I couldn't log back in! Switching users, however, and then logging in with the locked account worked... so password and user account are fine, it just doesn't always get accepted.

So once again, I agree with Danny. Microsoft has a longstanding history of adding useless bells and whistles to programs, so I commend them for making Windows Mail more simple to use, but in this case, it would have been wonderful had they given the user an option to password protect program usage and entry WITHIN the same user profile
