View 7 RepliesI guess the the app files kinda run by themselves when you double click them so it doesn't matter where they are on your computer. I could be wrong though. However what about the ZIP files? I remember once using the Dell resource CD and it would download some of these ZIP files...but they would put them somewhere in my program files folder. That is why I was willing to use the CD more since it would place these files in the correct place (I mean I'm not going to put them on my desktop for instance). So where do I put the ZIP files? There are only ZIP and application files.

HP, dual processors, 500 gig HD and when he logs on a voice greets him with good morning/evening and his name. when he logs off the same voice says goodby. Someone else set up his computer and he doesn't know how the guy did it. I would like to set mine up the same way. How do I do it? I know it can be done. He uses MSN and Quest. I use MSN and Comcast. View 5 Replies View RelatedThe only problem is with voice chatting on chat messengers like Gtalk, yahoo, windows live. The chat browsers seem to work perfect except that I cant hear what other persons speak. They can listen to my voice, but I cant hear what they say. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling these chat browsers a few times but it gives me the same problem. There is no error message as such. And as I said, I can listen to music, I can see movies with songs on the same PC but I cant hear what other people say while voice chatting.
I heard there was some Codec issue with Yahoo messenger and tried installing the tsp_codec as an administrator but even that did not help. I installed the latest Gtalk, Yahoo messenger ( as well as Windows messenger Live but still there is the same problem. I dont know what is wrong. If my PC speakers or audio drivers were bad I would not be able to listen to music also but I can hear songs record voice etc. Its only when I try to voice chat with other people I cant hear what they say. They hear me pitch perfect.
I want to change the voice on my PC from the default Anna to any other. Although I have downloaded and installed other voices, I still have only one option in the Select Voice bar under Voice Settings. I have seen this problem reported in other forums and have yet to find any solution.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a multi-boot machine on which I cannot map certain folders to which I have access at work. I can map these folders with no problem when I boot to XP or Vista 64 on the same machine (using the same batch file for the net use commands) but I get a system error 53 (network path not found) error when I try to do so using Vista 32. As far as I can tell the network configurations are identical in the Vista 64 and Vista 32 installations.
In Vista 32 I can ping the servers on which the folders reside and I can map other folders in the same domain. How can this be=97and how can I correct it since Vista 32 is my primary working OS?
Well I started a small downloading spree when i got the machine built up and running, and this has me bamboozled. I Use Windows Vista X64 Ultimate edition. After downloading many different albums and such I ran into a problem. Some of them play but most of them don't. I use Windows Media Player for the audio and whenever trying to open up and music through there (or any music player rather) I run into problems.
1: It will have an error pop up first saying that "the file that you are trying to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. then it asks if you wish to continue.
2: After clicking Yes, It just says that windows cannot support the file error screen.

The version of the Connector software does not match the version of Windows Home Server. Make sure you are installing the correct version of the Connector software.
On your home computer, delete the %ProgramFiles%Windows Home Server folder if it exists. Then install the Connector software from the Software shared folder on your home server, rather than from the CD. (Perhaps you have an old CD.) Connect to YourServerNameSoftware Home Server Connector Software, and then run Setup.exe.

I made this computer using my old Powersupply ( Jeantech 500W) and Harddrive. I had previously used the graphics card in my old setup and had no issues. This was XP, different motherboard, processor etc. I formatted the Harddrive and installed Windows 64bit and installed all the new parts. Drivers are all up to date except the motherboard. (Of which the CD couldn't be detected)
When I turn on my computer, at the login screen I receive small blocks of colour that do not match the screens intended picture. On the log in screen this is normally minimal, but on my main desktop this will nearly cover the screen intermitantly. Sounds bad? But it will either fix itself in time with the "Windows has recovered the driver Atiamtag" Or, I pop open the Chess program and on load up this clears the issue..........
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64. I had 4GB of memory installed and just upgraded to 8GB. When I started the computer with the new memory sticks, I got this message:

Running Vista Home Premium on Compaq Presario notebook. This is my first Vista machine and I find its inability to do a "proper" search a stunning shortcoming. Or am I missing some secret setting? Scenario- I want to do a search of my entire hard drive for a file. I only know the extension so I enter .snf and the results are 1 file found. Wrong!First of all, the results don't show me the complete path to the file.
Instead of displaying C:UsersownerDocuments, it displays C:Usersowner. That's it. I either have to flail around and manually check all the owner folders or right click and look at the file's properties. Why won't Vista display the FULL path to the file? Secondly, and this is really disappointing, is that I KNOW there are at least 70 more .snf files on my C drive that Vista apparently can't locate! I never had this search problem with XP. You ask XP and it tells all. Simple. So what gives with Vista? Is there some way to make Vista do a COMPLETE search and display ALL found files with FULL PATHS?
