BSOD: Can't Restore To Factory Defaults
Jun 23, 2009Everytime i turn my computer on i get the blue screen of death i can't restore to factory defaults by CTRL+F11 or from CD... Last known good configuration doesn't work neither.

Dec 28, 2009I had a HP PC running windows vista home basic, it crashed and was not able to boot in vista. Startup repair or safe mode did not work, so inorder to save data I installed vista business on top of it. The data is recovered and now when I try to boot to the factory restore it does not work, noticed in msconfig under boot.ini tab there is no boot record to the factory restore partition. Is there a way I can add in the record so that If I press F11 my PC will boot into the factory restore partition?

Sep 12, 2008I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 running Windows Vista Home Premium. My computer has numerous problems: it won’t load certain websites, windows updates won’t work, I can’t load or re-download windows defender, I can’t download software from Microsoft.com…..and so on and so on. I have searched and searched the internet and tried many solutions from many different forums with none of them working. My last resort is to restore the system to factory settings however that too presents a problem. The files in my HP_Recovery drive have been deleted and the recovery disks that I created were lost when I moved. I know it’s a long shot, but is there any way I can restore my system to factory settings without the HP_Recovery partition or recovery disks?

Apr 25, 2010I need to do a complete factory reset on my Gateway. The restore discs that Gateway sent me no longer work (I've had to factory reset previously) and the OS disc that Gateway sent me isn't reading in my T-6835 laptop. Since I reset my hard drive previously, I don't have Gateway Recovery Manager. I do have a recovery partition though, but I can't access it for some reason or another. I have tried tapping alt + f10, f10, and r at the beginning but to no avail.

Nov 13, 2009A few weeks ago my computer died from a windows update it automatically did, i managed to get back onto the computer by booting my OS disk to save my files and now i need to completly restore my computer back to factory settings. I Don't want to restore it back to a certain point, or repair my system as i log on, which is all i seem to be able to find in other posts, i just want to completly restore it back to day 1. F11 doesnt work when i turn my computer on (yes im doing it right and ive tried it LOTS of times), F8 brings up a screeen i dont want, booting from teh OS disk just boots the pc normally and alt F10 doesnt seem to be bringing the page that i need up, just an editing page.

Jun 16, 2009I was recently given a Medion desktop pc (its a second hand one), and i want to recover it back to factory settings. I got nothing with the pc, no disks or anything.It has one HDD which is partitioned into two drives, one of which is called "recover" and contains what i assume to be files that will reset the pc to factory settings and install all of the orginal content again. This drive has no .exe file in it, or any other file extention that i can do anything with. The appears to be no program that i can find that will recover the pc.
how i restore it factory settings? Confused_ms p.s. The DVD-rom is not working at the min, so even if i did have a disk i wouldnt be able to use it. p.p.s. SATA Hard Drive Factory Full Capacity Restore - 64Bit

Would someone know of any utility or method to restore a SATA hard drive's factory full capacity size? During partitioning my drive, it went from 595GB (640GB Drive) to only 32GB. Since it is a 64-Bit system, I can't find a utility to restore the drive's full capacity.

Apr 5, 2009Some advise in how to build my i7 rig. Well a few things changed, and I don't have the i7. I got a few different parts here and there, and just finally put the rig together last night.
First thing is first. My computer is saying my CPU is only 2.0Ghz! It states the name of the chip, but in the bios and benchmark test, it says it's only running at 2.0Ghz. What is the deal there? How does that even happen? Do I have a bad chip? Or is my chip somehow being under clocked? Now for the FUN stuff. Ever since I first booted my computer up, I've had COUNTLESS BSOD errors here and there. By the way I'm running Vista Ultimate. As well as the errors I've encountered I've been having some odd graphic errors too. After around 20 minutes of use, all the images on my screen get changed back into like 1000 color mode (instead of Millions of Colors) so everything looks just horrible. And things like clicking on the Start Menu give me only half the menu. I thought maybe it was the Card overheating, so I downloaded Riva Tunner and cranked the fan up to 100% to test it out, and I still get the same issues. Then I figured it was my drivers, since the ones that were on the CD were obviously old. So when I try to go to Nvidia's site and download the correct drivers, and install them, Windows says that the .EXE is corrupt. And that happens no matter what, no matter how many times I download the proper drivers....................
Could Not Get Clean Install On The System, Always Got BSOD
Aug 11, 2008I build a computer last night for a relative and could not get a clean install on the system, always got BSOD. I tried XP Pro (error), Vista Ultimate x86 and even Vista Ultimate x64 but always had some issue. I did remove all external USB/Firewire/Sound/TV Tuner card etc so it was only running on Mainboard/1 Ram Stick/HDD/ DVD Burner and Video card. Still get an BSOD so i changed the RAM for one out of my wifes computer but it didnt make a difference. Hate to think my sister inlaw got a faulty product as she has gone back home out west with reciept and had to leave the computer with me to resolve the issue. Any ideas what maybe causing this as i had a late night on it and i am to damn tired to think of what else apart from a fauly pasrt it could be.

System No Longer Logon Screen Before BSOD
Sep 22, 2008I have received the Stop 0x0000000A on my recent build. System was stable for ~ 3 weeks. Specs are as follows: Asus P5Q, Q9550, GTX 260 core 216, 8GB 1066MHz Kingston HyperX, 500GB Seagate, 750 Zalman PSU. First few times I was able to review event logs and check for any application/driver installs that might have caused the problem with no results. System no longer goes past logon screen before BSOD. Tried a new MB with updated BIOS. Tried different modules in different RAM slots. All with no success. I am unable to get into the system to apply any update patches or configuration changes past the BIOS.

A google search indicates this is likely a driver conflict and a number of site direct me to a debug utility which I have DLd and installed- dbg_x866.11.1.402.msi. I have enter, I think, the proper path at the cmd prompt, that is windbg -y c:windowsi386 -z c:windowsminidumpminidump.dmp is a keep getting (I think) an error and the program stops......

May 1, 2010I am having problems typing in the user name of my other computer in our home network. I type it in and it just defaults back to something else that's in there. like this... I will type in a word ..like..eclipse..for the user name and then type in the password in the box underneath...then it comes up as ..whatever/eclipse ...and will not let me connect. Video Card And Monitor Defaults Mixed Up.
Oct 16, 2008I have an 8800GT and a 7600 GT Geforce card. The 8800 is for my primary monitor, a Nec, and also runs a small Dell. The 7600 is for two Dells. But when I go to Preferences in CS3 and check "GPU Settings" it says it detects the 7600 card, not the 8800. So then I looked at Vista color management and there it shows the monitor connected to the 7600 card as my default monitor. How can I change the default monitor to make it the Nec, which is already the primary? And will that cause Photoshop to then detect the 8800 card instead of the 7600?

May 26, 2008Why can't I use system restore to restore back to certain restore points? I was only successful twice with it. When my laptap was new and when I used it after re-formatting my hard drive. On all occassions after those two instances I can never restore back to any restore point. It always says that "unspecified error" line. If Microsoft doesn't know what happend, how could I. Why did they bother putting system restore if it doesn't work all the time anyway. It gives you a false sense of security.

May 2, 2009I have made a mistake and I am struggling to get out of this mess, I hope Shawn or someone who experienced this problem can help me out.
I was doing the Factory state recovery using Alt+F10 while booting in my Acer Aspire laptop, everything was fine until the "Acer Launch" window appeared. The last process Install eRecovery solution is not completing. The AL window just sitting in the middle of the screen and couldn't be moved. I tried to disable it from startup, msconfig window vanishes behind the Acer Launch window.
I think the cause of this problem is I forgot to create the 2nd(D: data) partition prior to starting the Recovery process.
My original set up was like this:
EISA hidden partition
C: system partition
D:data partition
I have deleted the D: partition and extended the C partition
I have created Recovery disc but I don't have Vista installation DVD as my machine is OEM version of Vista on it. I do have an Anytime upgrade DVD which came with the laptop when I bought.

Mar 28, 2008My laptop is Dell inspiron 1420, home premium 32 bit. It's about 5 months old. It came with :-
1.) OS reinstallment DVD
2.) Dell Drivers and Utilities disk
3.) Microsoft Works 8.5 disk
4.) Trend Micro Internet Security ( but I have changed to McAfee since)
It's only 5 months ago that I learned how to use computer by reading and asking questions. So please be step-by-step in showing me how to.

Jan 16, 2008We've bought an HP 2710p tablet and built up the pre-installed Vista Business OS to work on our network. putting domain, installing bespoke software, taking the pre-installed crap off, etc. A user had it and was working fine for a few weeks and his story was that it was running low on battery, so he plugged it in, then went away for a bit. He comes back and finds the thing re-installing itself to factory settings!
I found that hard to believe, but upon taking re-possession of it, that's exactly what's it done - seemingly no questions asked! A crash is one thing, but a complete automatic factory recover! Have to say we're not best pleased. Why would it do that and how do i stop if from doing anything on its own terms again?
Factory Image D Full
Mar 25, 2010my D drive is in red and apparently full. i am not getting the warning sign yet but was curious if I can somehow just delete this drive. yes i know that it is a recovery drive. we do have a recovery disk handy. when i click on it it says "warning this area of your hard drive comntains files used for your PC Recovery. Do not delete or alter....." so if I were to delete it will is mess my computer up? do i really need to back it up to a cd since i already have a recovery disk? is there a way to just keep the drive but not have the full red bar there?

Apr 5, 2008I purchased a HP Pavillion DV2222tx laptop computer that came with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it. I then purchased Vista Business and installed without making a backup/recovery disk. I now want to put it back to it's factory condition and get Vista Home Premium back on it but can not seem to find how to do it. There is still 4.46GB of HP_RECOVERY on D:/ that you can not see what is on it. How get it back to factory. I have tried pressing F11 repeatedly on startup - that did nothing, tried repeatedly pressing F8 as well - couldn't work that one out and just do not know what to do now. When I installed Business it has taken away the Recovery Manager and I don't know what to do.
