I have recently gotten a Windows Vista Pa and to all the bugs left on it while released onto the productivity shelfs, shame on you. To delete the unwanted and unmoveable emails: Select email Go to Edit Select Mark as Unread and Then DELETE!

View 6 Replies View RelatedAm using Windows Mail v6 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop and after I have sent a couple of email messages and then want to move the sent messages to relevant folders, my personal folders under the inbox together with the standard mail folders (i.e. outbox etc) have disappeared. I close Windows Mail and open again and the relevant folders still do not appear. Only once I have restarted my pc will the folders then appear. It is most frustrating. I am running the latest home version of AVG Anti Virus.

I was recieving the emails yesterday to my inbox, but when I logged on the computer to check them today there was none in the inbox, and I know for a fact that there would definately be something in my inbox today because I get notification sent to my inbox when someone replys to me on other sites.
View 8 Replies View RelatedFor the last week some of my emails have been disapearing from my inbox after a couple of seconds. They are not in my junk folder. My ISP says its not a problem their end. I am considering reistalling windows mail but don't really know what I'm doing so am reluctant to do this if there is another solution - this may not fix anyway and would I loose all my emails currently in my inbox?

Now for some reason the Will NOT DELETE. we have tried everything from drag and drop to move to folder and setting the filters so it would move then to the junk folder and nothing works. i have gone through windows KB and vista help and support and found nothing that worked. i have searched everywhere but can't seem to find anything that might help.

I tried command line scripts to remove the folder (RMDIR or DELTREE), but I'm not having any luck with the search folders. Quite a while ago, I lost my Vista installation due to some errant = program and the lousy installation/removal program it had. As per Microsoft's advice, I recovered all I could off some backups and = stuck that in a directory called "Windows.old". It's a few years later now and Vista is considerably more stable. I've = had no problem whatsoever with Vista -- knock wood! Since I don't use that directory for anything at this point, having = taken everything worthwhile out of it already, I figured now was a great = time to delete it (it's taking up about 20 GB). when I go to delete it Vista tells me that files in that directory, such = as in "Windows.old/Windows" are in use. Huh? Would it be safe for me to force a delete on that directory anyway or is = this risky?

I am cleaning up my music folder and found out that I have over a thousand empty folders in it due to old music I had deleted. I don't want to have to go through and delete each one manually. View 4 Replies View RelatedJust as earlier post says...I too have, in just the past 2 days, begun to have something wacky going on with my Windows Mail. When I open, it receives and posts mesages in the appropriate folders so it is downloading the mesages and the count of how many in each folder. BUT, then the problems start...Sometimes, if I open the email and read it, then move to another folder with mail it deletes the emails just read in the first folder. Other times, it will delete the mail in one particular folder just as I click to open it and read them. I have already gone through and checked View---> Current View---Show All.
I have also watched carefully at the top right corner of my email and each of the 3 folders is marked "Show all Mesages". Nothing is marked to be "Hidden". I have also checked and re-checked the three message rules. The deleted mails are nowhere else to be found. It's now to the point where I may not even get to read them once deposited in the folder of my mailbox. One folder in particular is having the most problems.

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a way to remove the virtual folder links that appear under your username in Explorer? I mean the folders like "Videos", "Searches" and "Links". I know some of these folders serve an important purpose(like "Links", "Favorites", "Contacts", "Desktop"), but I'd like to move them somewhere
else and not have them clutter up the tree view when I'm trying to navigate around my files in Explorer.
I can move them to another physical location (using the Location tab on the properties window), but when I go back to Explorer, links to them appear as sub-folders as though they were still in my userprofile directory. This really winds me up -- I think I should be allowed to organise my own file system, without Microsoft deciding what folders I need!
when i upgraded my vista business to vista ultimate full retail, it stopped half way through, so i had to do a clean install instead. when i booted my windows and looked on the c drive there were a series of folders with strange names. i suspect this is backups from the upgrade which failed, i rescued my files i needed out of the folders, and tried to delete the ones the upgrade left behind but it wont let me. How do i delete them?

I click on the highlighted email and drag it to my inbox and while the number in my deleted items folder increases the message is still actually in my inbox. It will then say "message cannot be displayed". I then click on the deleted items folder and the message is there. Then I go back to my inbox and it is no longer there. So my question is, why all of a sudden can't I move it? Also, when I open an email to read it, it is still showing as new until I click out of the folder.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new PC with Windows Vista (Home Premium) and migrated my old Outlook Express folders and emails as per the Help instructions. All appeared well as all the old folders appear in Windows Mail. However there appear to be NO emails in any of the folders. What is also strange is that some of these apparently empty folders appear in bold displaying the number of unread emails in the folder. Presumably some indexing fault has occurred - repeated attempts at importing have failed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of problems with Vista Windows Mail. In some of my email folders (about 5), I have realised that ALL emails have now taken on the same message body. It is like Windows Mail has overwritten all messages with one random email that existed in the folder. The Subjects, timestamps, addresses are normal/individual, but every email has the same body/message. They used to be individual emails in these folders, but now it is the same email over and over again.-
Some emails give me the following message when I click on them: It is happening to ALL emails in 1 or two folders. Message could not be displayed - Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again. I hope someone has encountered this problem & knows how to fix it. I have emails dating to 1999 & wouldn't want to lose them because of Windows Mail.
I have a new Dell computer with Vista Home Premium--my first experience with Vista. I have transferred (I believe successfully) my email settings and email files from my old machine (Windows XP, Outlook Express) to the new machine (Windows Mail). There are two panes; the left one contains the folder tree, and appears to be correct, including the total number of messages and number of read messages in each folder. The right pane, which should contain columns of information for each of the messages, is blank. No messages, no headers.I have confirmed that all the folders and all the emails are stored in c:UsersRussAppData.... And I can read them by double clicking on the ..eml files. However nothing appears in the right pane in Windows Mail. The column headers are also missing. I can add them by checking the appropriate boxes in View--> Columns.... But if I close out Windows Mail and reopen it, the headers disappear and the boxes in View-->Columns... are unchecked.

Well, my computer crashed out and I had to get a new hard drive. I tried to follow the instructions from the previously solved thread, but I can not find the "desktop.ini". When I go to the users folder inside my choices are Administrator and Public and I can not find the "desktop.ini" file. I have windows vista.

View 9 Replies View RelatedInstalled SP1 late last week and I'm quite unhappy with it. Stupid SP turned all the start up items and proccesses on, that I'd spent weeks filtering through and turning off. I've turned off pretty much everything, yet my computer takes about twice as long to boot up as before. I HATE that stupid icon they've used to replace the hourglass, because it's ALWAYS there.
In addition, the newest oddity is only the 1st person to login can get their hotmail without a reboot. If I login under my username and get hotmail, then my wife switches user and tries to get her hotmail she can login, but can't view her inbox. The opposite is true if she logs in first and I switch user. Who knows what else this SP screwed up but I haven't found yet. Anybody else have this issue and figure out a fix?
I just downloaded MSN live - I can see my contacts, my email address is ok - can sign in - but when I try to go to mail it tells me I have no inbox. What's up?

and found over 1,000 files with .eml extension. The names where unrecognizable.
The size of all these files is over 100 gb
What are these email files and why are there so many and can I safely remove them?
Also in the Outbox I have over 100 gb of .nws files.
Does anyone have this problem? I created an e-mail with an image, when I send the e-mail. The e-mail goes to the receiver inbox without the image or picture.

On the left, next to the inbox tab it says I have (12) new messages however the main screen is blank and says "there are no items in this view". It isn't showing any of the unread messages OR the read messages I have saved in my inbox. It keeps recieving emails as this morning I only had (4) new...now (12) however I cannot find them anywhere to read. I have checked all the settings and everything is the same??
