Don't Want New Mail Automatically Selected

Using Vista Home and Windows Mail. Just d/l'd IE 8 and now in Windows Mail, the new mail is automatically selected and shows up in the Preview Pane. Before, I could select an old piece of mail and when new mail came in, it did not get selected until I chose to do this. I want this feature back, but don't know how to get it. The reason? It is my understanding that once a piece of mail is in the preview screen, the sender (spam or otherwise undesirable character), knows you have received it; or if in html format, it can open a virus. I know I can turn off the Preview and do have a button on the top menu to do this, but would prefer to not have to do this whenever going into the email program. Also, is it true that by looking at the Properties (instead of the Preview Pane) of an unopened email to view its content,

Does anyone know if you when have you selected a mail in the inbox, if you can make it darker? In Outlook and Outlook Express it was darker and easier for me. In Vista Mail, it is just so light. What I am talking about is when you put your mouse on the mail in your inbox, it is highlighted.

We have a PC with two User Accounts - both use Windows mail - one A/C has suddenly stopped printing E mails - when the print option is selected the slecetd E mail "freezes" and Windows Mail shows "not responding" and has be cloed down - the other A/C continues to print received E Mails without problem -

i just installed the latest windows live mail beta software client and i wanted to know how do i get junk mail to be displayed automatically ? before it would show automatically on the layout of the reading pane to the right of the message list but now i have to click to open them because they wont show in the reading pane like they did before

I have a strange problem that I have found no solution for. At regular intervals Windows Mail starts and jumps to the foregroudn on its own without any action by me that would cause this behavior. Typical example is when playing a game/watching a video in full screen mode Mail jumps up and throws the other program in the background. This is extremely annoying, any suggestions on what might be causing this? I haved no mail accounts configured in Mail and I have tried to disable all automatic notifications and automatic checing for new messages.

I had problems not being able to automatically invoke Windows Mail when clicking on an address and that issue was solved by running a MailTo.reg-file. Now, i noticed that i have a similar issue when i try to send a link to the current webpage i'm viewing. When i choose File->Send, there are options to send a link and a page but they are greyed out.

I am running Windows Vista. I am having a problem with Windows Mail inthat every time I switch between folders, the last e-mail in my Inbox disappears. It doesn't go into the Deleted Items folder, it just vanishes. I have lost several important e-mails today.

I am using Windows Mail 6.0 with Windows Vista home premium. About a month ago, in a fit of anger, I turned on a function that automatically sends a personalised reciept to every person that sends me an Email. My intent was to allow certain spammers to know exactly what I felt about them. However, innocent Emailers are complaining about my vulgarity and are wondering what their mother ever did to offend me. I have searched all of the mail functions, and I can find no way to turn this off.

When reading an email using Windows Mail,if the text in the body of that email contains an email address,is it possible to double click on that address and have Windows Mail open automatically with a blank reply page?
This operation used to work OK with XP & OE however using Vista & Windows Mail it only pops up a message stating that the program is not associated. Clicking on an email address in a web page using IE8 works fine, it opens up a Windows Mail reply page.

I'm having a problem with the overlay title on selected clips feature on WMM bleeding from one pix to another. I have around 300 pix and all are fine but a couple of cells. I don't want to slow the transition on all pix and I don't think it's possible to do it on select ones. Is there any other way to correct this problem?

I have some pics in my Windows Photo Gallery that I need to delete.Every time I click on them,9right click or left click)it gives me the message"The files you have selected might be read-only or in a location that is unavailable."It won't let me go to the properties of these pics, and at one time when it would,I followed all the instructions on the help menu as to how to change a read-only file, etc.No luck whatsoever.I deleted the pictures from My Pictures, but I cannot get them deleted from Windows Photo Gallery.

I have two user accounts, one is an administrator. I don't want the standard account to be able to view the data in my account. I tried to "un-share folders but I keep getting this error message 'You could not stop sharing the selected folder.' Further info says that this folder is in a shared folder, huh? It shouldn't be.

I am ahving some trouble trying to connect to the internet. I do not need to
network any other PC's its just the new Vista machine. I have dropped all my
firewalls and have set it to obtain an IP automatically. I am not quite a
novice at this but i am not an expert, so please bear with me.
I found a comment on a forum that said i need to select the windows locator
in the "client for microsoft networks" properties. If i ok that and keep all
the related windows open i can gain access to the net. The second i "ok" any
of the related windows i loose access and when checked, the windows locator
is again not selected.

I tried out Vista Ultimate 64bit for a month and got whipped by driver issues. I installed Vista Ultimate 32bit on a 2nd partition and tried using Windows Easy Transfer to transfer files and settings from the 64bit installation and pick them up in the 32bit installaion. This is the error I get every time I try to complete the transfer: "The store you selected was saved on a 64bit machine. Windows Easy Transfer cannot apply the data." Is there a way to use WET to transfer files from a Vista-64bit installation? If not WET, is there another utility?

how to set up the folder options to display the number of subfolders or items when its selected. It used to display in the bottom of the folder window but got disabled. Any folder clicked on would display in a small footer the number of items stored in in and size.

I went to turn it on this morning, I just had a black screen showing the following words;
Press F2 to run
Press F11 to boot menu
Auto detecting PRI Master Atapai CDROM.
It then went to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I went into the BIOS to change the boot order and inserted my Vista home premium 32bit. I then got windows is loading in files. After a short while I got the black start up screen with Microsoft Corporation but after a few seconds it just froze. Moments later it went to a blue screen with white writing part of which said the following; A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TI YOUR COMPUTER.

I've imported my contacts file into Windows Mail but something funny is happening. When I am creating a message and am typing the first few letters of a contact's name, some names come up automatically just as they did in the Outlook but not all of them, although I those names are there on the contacts list. I can't figure out why. In order to add these names I have to go to Tools, Select Recipient and add their names to the TO field. Is there a way I can get Windows Mail to insert all contacts names automatically?

Every time I boot up, User Account Control pops up and asks me if I want to allow this program to run "PSDiagnostic.exe". This program has to do with the functionality of my wireless print server and it needs to run or the printer on my print server will not function. If I allow the program to run everything is fine, but I would rather not have to be bothered with this during every boot up. I know I can disable User Account Control to avoid this, but is there a way I can leave User Account Control active and still allow this program to run automatically during boot up? Like is there a list of exceptions that I could add it to?

I have a multi boot system with XP, Vista, 7 (RC1) and Ubuntu. If I select "restart" in order to reboot, it just waits until I do a hard reset. If I select shutdown, then it does so. Neither XP or 7 has this problem. Any fix for this?

I am using window Vista OS. The IP address assigned to my PC by sify is 10.x.x.x. Usually when i connect the lan cable to my laptop and check uing ipcofig i get the same IP ,But every now and then the IP gets chaged to some other IP y.y.y.y .Now when i go and check using the IP config my y.y.y.y Ip becomes the prefereed IP and 169.x.x.x becomes the duplicate IP But if i check in the Manage Network pane where we set the IP address ,there it will be showing the correct IP only ( x.x.x.x assigned by sify ).

im running a dell laptop with vista home. i recently reinstalled the os and am having login issues. there is one user account and when i startup or come back from sleep, i have to click on my user account before entering password. is there a way to make it automatically select this account and display enter password rather than me having to click account first? i do want to require a password.
