I had problems not being able to automatically invoke Windows Mail when clicking on an address and that issue was solved by running a MailTo.reg-file. Now, i noticed that i have a similar issue when i try to send a link to the current webpage i'm viewing. When i choose File->Send, there are options to send a link and a page but they are greyed out.
i just installed the latest windows live mail beta software client and i wanted to know how do i get junk mail to be displayed automatically ? before it would show automatically on the layout of the reading pane to the right of the message list but now i have to click to open them because they wont show in the reading pane like they did before
I have a strange problem that I have found no solution for. At regular intervals Windows Mail starts and jumps to the foregroudn on its own without any action by me that would cause this behavior. Typical example is when playing a game/watching a video in full screen mode Mail jumps up and throws the other program in the background. This is extremely annoying, any suggestions on what might be causing this? I haved no mail accounts configured in Mail and I have tried to disable all automatic notifications and automatic checing for new messages.
When I start an email by typing in the name of the recipients, who are all in my address book; the address of the person does not come up automatically. I have to open Windows contacts each and every time and copy it to the email
I am running Windows Vista. I am having a problem with Windows Mail inthat every time I switch between folders, the last e-mail in my Inbox disappears. It doesn't go into the Deleted Items folder, it just vanishes. I have lost several important e-mails today.
I am seeing new contacts in my list that I have not added. I recently installed SP2 and wonder if this has anything to do about it. It never happeded before that.
I am using Windows Mail 6.0 with Windows Vista home premium. About a month ago, in a fit of anger, I turned on a function that automatically sends a personalised reciept to every person that sends me an Email. My intent was to allow certain spammers to know exactly what I felt about them. However, innocent Emailers are complaining about my vulgarity and are wondering what their mother ever did to offend me. I have searched all of the mail functions, and I can find no way to turn this off.
When reading an email using Windows Mail,if the text in the body of that email contains an email address,is it possible to double click on that address and have Windows Mail open automatically with a blank reply page?
This operation used to work OK with XP & OE however using Vista & Windows Mail it only pops up a message stating that the program is not associated. Clicking on an email address in a web page using IE8 works fine, it opens up a Windows Mail reply page.
Using Vista Home and Windows Mail. Just d/l'd IE 8 and now in Windows Mail, the new mail is automatically selected and shows up in the Preview Pane. Before, I could select an old piece of mail and when new mail came in, it did not get selected until I chose to do this. I want this feature back, but don't know how to get it. The reason? It is my understanding that once a piece of mail is in the preview screen, the sender (spam or otherwise undesirable character), knows you have received it; or if in html format, it can open a virus. I know I can turn off the Preview and do have a button on the top menu to do this, but would prefer to not have to do this whenever going into the email program. Also, is it true that by looking at the Properties (instead of the Preview Pane) of an unopened email to view its content,
When I go to windows mail I find that incoming mail is opening before i even select it. It has only just started doing this on its own. What could have happened
I am running Windows Vista Premium Home SP1. When I boot my computer, Windows Defender doesn't start automatically. It works fine if I start it manually. I have never run Windows OneCare, MSCONFIG shows it set to start, the Windows Defender service is set to automatic and Tools | Options has all the checkboxes checked.
windows automatically logs out as soon as you log in. The laptop has windows xp home sp2. I used to be able to boot into safe mode ,but now it wont let me log in using safemode. I was wondering if anyone has a solution or if anyone knows how I could use the harddrive as a virtual pc on my laptop so I can play with the registry? I dont want to reinstall windows because i dont have xp home cd.
I have Windows Defender as an active part of my Laptop Security, and have it set to install updated Definitions automatically. This is run in conjunction with avast! v4.8 Home Edition - Free Anti-Virus, and with regular checks using Spybot Search and Destroy v1.6.2.46 - both kept right up to date. Regardless of the fact that at Windows Defender>Tools>Options, I have these settings, Windows Defender never automatically completes the set task, and I am sometimes reminded that a scan has not been done for 2-3 days, and then need to complete the job manually. The Laptop is always ON at this time, and I fail to see a reason why Windows Defender should fail to activate the set scan. It's a minor nuisance, but a nuisance all the same.
i have a windows vista home premium installed on my laptop A215-S4757 & i didn't get its recovery but i managed to get a recovery for A215-S4757 (same as mine) from my friend would it work if i used his recovery on my laptop? & would the drivers be automatically configured?
Attracted by the additional outbound protection offered, I decided to install Comodo. I seem to recall (but may be mistaken) that when I installed Comodo on an XP machine, Comodo automatically switched off the Windows firewall and Windows also recognised that Comodo was installed and had taken the place of the Windows firewall. Therefore I was surprised that after installing Comodo on my Vista machine that the Windows firewall was still on and when switched off still told me that I had no firewall. Is this correct behaviour or has my installation not gone correctly? Also, when I first log on I get a pop-up from Comodo telling me that svchost.exe is trying to access the internet - is that valid and what should my response be to set it permanently recognised as good?
What email should I use when I convert to Windows 7 in a few days? I must be able to easily convert thousands of emails in hundreds of folders, many nested within other folders, maybe 3 or 4 deep. I have 8 or more email addresses that Windows Mail checks automatically. Is OEX any good?
After updating my windows on 11th March 2008, my computer keeps Automatically shut down by itself each time I tried to log in to windows. Before it shuts down, I saw this message on my screen: "Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3. - 0% completed Do not turn of your computer." After a few minutes, my computer will automatically shuts down, and it continuously do the same thing over and over again. The updates are not completed and will always shows "0% completed".
when I had to open Internet Explorer (I use Mozilla) to access my school email account. Everything went fine and when I was done I reopened Mozilla to browse again. I got one of those annoying spam web popups saying I had a computer infection and clicked out of it. A few minutes later my pc just randomly rebooted. I have had viruses before but it has never shut down randomly before. So I immediately restarted in safemode and ran my spyware tools. I found 3 trojans (I no longer remember their names) and removed them. I rebooted and it starts to load windows but reboots before it reaches the user account screen. I can get into safe mode and I did run my spyware tools again, they didn't find anything at all. I figured I had somehow damaged my system and so I downloaded a windows repair disc and repairedit. It didn't work. I've run startup repair and that didn't work or find anything wrong either.
I'm wondering if there is a simple way to take your Vista Installation Disc and use it to create a custom installation disc that also includes updated drivers and updated hotfixes. The goal would be that during a clean install, those updated drivers and Windows Updates are installed automatically.
For a specific example, I use a USB Wireless Adapter. If I could create a custom windows disc that includes those drivers, then I my USB Wireless Adapter would be recognized and I could therefore allow Windows to connect to the Internet during Setup to see if there are any hotfixes and updates.
Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. I received this after my computer locked up when trying to open up windows Mail "Windows Mail could not be started, initialize junk filtering. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x80070002)" After closing that error out I get "Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized.
I've had a problem for a while now. Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.
