sometimes my internet stops, like the loading bar is still loading but extremely slow, and i often get kicked off AIM, i get the Recconecting message window, i have to go to Local Area Connection Status, and click Repair until the internet works again? any idea why this is happening?

I have tried FIXMBR, FIXBOOT and now trying to reinstall using the guide in another thread. I do not get the same R option when I get to the SETUP screen. It looks to me like it will fresh install XP and wipe everything. Originally I was getting missing SYSTEM file and boot stops. I found what I thought was the SYSTEM file and put it into the directory but it still will not boot. I just get another new error.

I need to know the shortcut target for doing this. It might not be a full target as it is part of windows explore like the shortcut for Search is "& Search" I can add stuff to Send To easily. But adding stuff to New is going to be difficult.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't see the taskbar anymore!! dont know what happen. When I restart or turn on my Pc I just cant see it for a few seconds then is gone. I have downloaded the taskbar tool you advice to download in a previous post but doesnt work for me when i clic on repair it shows only for a few minutes but then it disappears. I have tried using running my pc under safe mode, I click on the taskbar properties (the taskbar does appear under safe mode) and auto hide is not checked. I tried moving the taskbar in any other position of the monitor; but when i turn back to normal windows it can't stays on. I have used system restore on a previous date, it does not work either.

I get a message saying Internet Eplorer has encountered a problem and must close so it closest out my whole "My Computer". Why is it doing that too me? How can i fix the problem? Same error happens when i go to start Explorer but i can go to my computer or somethign liek that and use that as a browser but only thing is if i click on somethign liek a link for say my explorer will then crash and once again i would be confronted by a send to MS error. When I start Internet Explorer it all works fine with other icons maximising and minimising as they should. However when I close Internet Explorer I can't click on any icons and when I select them from the Start, Programs menu they start but won't minimise.

View 2 Replies View RelatedProblems started was when i updated my Zone Alarm firewall, windows works absolutely fine no problems what so ever, then next time i reboot it does the same, this time problems are non-stop until about 10% then fine from there on in, then when it finishes repairing the drive it gets stuck at repairing unreadable security descriptions date stream.
It also said whilst recovering orphaned files insufficient disk space to recover lost files. It stopped for a while then carried on. After scan disk it restarted and wouldn't load windows, just got stuck on windows loading screen forever, eventually 15+ minutes i pressed reset as there was no disk activity.
I have a computer that quits explorer every time I try to click on the file menu, or right click on explorer and go to the new link. It also does this when i try to delete a folder in explorer or through my computer.

When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.

But, now i have the same problem with the new hard drive. After a while, i realize that obviously, if the disk was cloned, ONLY the information that can be copied was transfered to the other one.In conclusion, how can I resolve this issue without using system repair. the problem is that once i use this tool and then IE won't work. at last I had to format the drive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows xp sp3 along side with ubuntu linux 8.04. When I'm using windows, everything will stick for half a second; it's not like the computer is being slow and lagging from insufficient hardware. Everything just stops simultaneously; anything I'm typing, any music or video I'm playing, the mouse stops etc. After that half a second, everything works fine until the next instance. This usually happens a few times a minute, sometimes much more, and once I've gone almost two hours (watching a movie) without this happening. Even worse, occasionally this will happen on an extreme level, and there will be a series of "rapid fire" sticks, where the mouse will dart and bounce around the screen, even clicking randomly. When I'm playing games, these instances appear as normal laggs in the game, but completely out of place. This seems to happen more when I'm running iTunes, but it is certainly not limited to this. What I find even stranger, is that when I'm using the linux OS, it runs perfectly like it should. This began before I began using linux at all, a little more than a year ago I think. I was using the OS as I always had, I don't remember doing anything to invoke this, but I assumed it was a virus of some kind. So after trying a few antivirus programs without result, I decided to start from scratch. I wiped the entire hard disc, reinstalled windows as well as linux. But the problem continued in windows xp, with little change. I recently added a 1GB stick of RAM which I thought could be the problem, but since it was happening before I don't think this is the case.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI use the Windows Language Bar to switch between English and Japanese characters.I can do this by pressing alt+shift but after a while when i start switching to Japanese characters the extra features ( letting me switch to hiragana or katakana so on ) disapear, so I can not switch.The defualt input is Direct Input ( english characters ) so when these features go away I can no longer use japanese characters at all.I restart my computer then it starts working for a while again.Would anyone know why the language bar just stops working?

Upgraded my XP home PC (Athlon 64 3500) to XP Pro and added office 2003 pro. I now have a very irritating fault that I cannot find any info on. Basically on accessing the web using IE6 for the first time after a re boot the machine locks totally for approx 5 mins. During this time the Start button and Task manager dont respond. The only thing that seems to be still working is right clicking on the desktop brings up the properties screen. The computer does store the keypresses as 5 mins later several windows will pop up as per keys pressed and the machine will stay free of the problem until next re boot.
