When I start Internet Explorer it all works fine with other icons maximising and minimising as they should. However when I close Internet Explorer I can't click on any icons and when I select them from the Start, Programs menu they start but won't minimise.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is so strange. For some reason I can't click on any link sent to me in an email (I use Outlook Express) or in a messenger program like MSN or Yahoo Messenger. it seems to be any link that would open a new window when clicked on.It was working fine this morning, but now I can't, even though I've restarted several times. All I've done on my PC today is remove a bit of spyware with X-Cleaner, and installed Windows Media Player 10. I've tried doing a System Restore back to this morning but it's had no effect. Does anyone have any ideas why this is?I'm on a laptop with a touchpad, but everything else is working fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a little play and disabled Flash in an attempt to speed up my page loading. (It seems to have worked.)However, now when I click on a link, I have to do so twice to get the page to load, (new window.)I have run Spyware Blaster and unchecked the kill bit as I was unable to get any links to work, but now I need to click the link twice, (the first time the page only part appears.) Not doubleclick, but actually click the link a second time as the page refuses to fully appear.I even System Restored it earlier, but then I could not get online atall, so rolled it back again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to click on the links on my works intranet from my home computer, but everytime I click on one of the links the message 'done but with errors on page' keeps coming up. It will allow me to click on the email link and open up my emails but will not open any other links. The background to the website should be a buff colour and its now white. I used to be able to access everything but a couple of months back a guy came and 'cleaned up' the computer and since then I can't click the links.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows XP Media Edition with SP2. Also use IE 6.Starting about 3-4 weeks ago, I must click twice on most links to get the link to work. This had happened just for Yahoo games, but now it's for most links. My home page is www.yahoo.com and it often is not displayed when I start my PC or use the Home icon. I get the message "The page cannot be displayed." The only thing I remember changing about a month ago was an Internet option to display graphics instead of getting the boxes with the red X's. Also, now any advertising on a web page always says "The page cannot be displayed." and nothing else is shown, except for a long error explanation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to find the button to shut this off but I can't. The problem is that when I am in explorer and click on any links they open up in firefox. Even in messenger when I click on mail it opens firefox instead of explorer. And so msn takes me to a different page then what it usually does and pisses me off. Also like when I want to do windows update it opens up in firefox so it does not work. I like firefox and use it for almost everything but there is just some thing explorer can do that firefox can't, ie: like update windows. So how do I get it to work like it is suppose to?

Everytime that I right-click any application, explorer shuts down. Leaving me to glare at my background in despair. I do'nt think it is a virus, as I have used countless anti-virus scaners on my computer and not a one of them has found any. I also tried to find the cause of this by looking in the event log, however nothing is mentioned in it.
I'm working on a computer for a client and have found it to be the most problem filled machine I have ever delt with. Spybot and ad-aware removed between the two of them over 1000 spyware files, I had to un install several bad programs, and stinger found 7 critical viruses. . It also will not connect to the Internet, it has been configured to the shop's network and I can ping other computers in the network no problem, I can even ping the gateway, but it cant connect to or ping any site beyond that...and finally, explorer restarts anytime you right click on a file on the desktop
I did manage to get highjackthis on to it and move the logfile to this computer on my USB drive and so here it is
My Windows Explorer keeps on crashing when ever I do right click in windows explorer. The error shown in the Event Viewer(Application Log) is as follows
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.3156, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.
I have a Dell 8200 desktop running XP service Pack 2. The problem I have is right clicking anything that is related to explorer.exe. I can right click icons on my desk top that are webpages, but not links to files on my computer. If I open a window, I cannot right click. I highlight an item and the busy hourglass spins around, then the window disappears. Can not delete items with out doing some work arounds. To delete, move or copy a file, I have to go into any program and say open file, then I can do what ever I want with it.
I have defragged, scanned for virus as well as adware and I am clean. Have even replaced the explorer.exe file. Had another tech try his darndest as well as other on-line Tech's. I have run a program called ShellExView and it comes up with an error in the following Extension Names. Channel, Channel Menu Handler Object, and Channel Shortcut. All are Channel Definition Viewer files.( cdfview.dll) All appear to be system types. Other Channel Definition Viewer fields seem to work just fine. (they include things such as icon handler, thumbnail, info tip handler etc. Not sure what to do with the information. I plan on getting a new computer soon, so do not want to have to reinstall Windows XP before then.
I had a problem crop up yesterday in which a folder in my documents (my documents few folder to be exact) has consistently started crashing explorer whenever I even go near the folder. If I go in to it, right click on it or even put my mouse on it explorer will crash, it has clips and pictures in it, mostly game or movie trailers, or little movie clips. If the problem cant get sorted out I would prefer the folder to be deleted.Ive asked at other places, and have seen someone else ask the same question (albeit without a resolutions) here so I'm not walking in blind.I've tried various programs including unlocker, killbox, moveonboot which all crash when attempting to delete.Spyware and virus programs crash when scanning the folder.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy pc is so slow that it takes ages to play a song in wmp11. Ive used tools like ad-aware and registry mechanic, tune up utilities. But still no improvement. It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.
