Internet Explorer Needs To Close And Closes
May 28, 2006I have encountered a few sites where this happens.. now it seems to be happening more often. I attempt to go to a web site and get a pop up that says 'click to run ActiveX controls. then I get pop up that says.."Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience". send error report or don't send either way Internet explorer then shuts down

Sep 28, 2006Every time I try to play a .mwv file on the internet. internet explorer tells me that it has encountered an error & must close.Windows Media player works off the internet.I have run sfc.I have downloaded ,reinstalled ie 6.1.I have reset all ie defaults.My firewall isnt blocking them.I have scanned my pc with Norton av, Ewido, @ spybot - no probs.There is nothing showing in Hijack this that could cause this.Ive now run out of ideas. (apart from a reload of windows)If anyone has any other ideas, I would be grateful if you could post them.

Feb 25, 2006Internet explorer 6 + recently upgraded to 2000. Simple..click on a link on a web page & it freezes, click right mouse & the link opens however as soon as work with the link its shuts off ie totally. Have re-installed ie6..still does it ..have done the regsvr checks..all ok..still does it.On my add/remove programmes folder there is ie6 + ie Q891781 which i cannot remove ( says invalid INF file)Is this the problem?

Dec 14, 2008I have been having this trouble I first noticed on a couple adult sites when trying to play a video, the MS Internet Explorer closes down and wants to know if I want to send an error message. Now it does it when I want to log into my Chase credit card account. It has just started doing this in the last few months.

Feb 19, 2007just installed a new hard drive in my computer and now, every time I open any window at all, if I click "X" to close it out, an internet explorer page opens up that is blank. When I close that, I get a Windows Explorer error message that says "Windows Explorer needs to close". I'm thinking maybe there is a problem in the registry but don't know exactly how to go about fixing it.

Jul 26, 2005I have two computers connected through a home network. One of the computers is very new and the other, two years old.Both run XP-SP2. I use one mouse for both computers - connected through a 2 port KVM switch. On the older machine, the mouse hangs after I close Internet Explorer. After a delay of a minute or so, it does come back most often. This does not ahppen on the new machine. Mouse does not seem to hang after I close other programs..(tested a few, but cant swear by it). This gets very annoying when I am in a rush.

Aug 20, 2007since today i've been experiencing quite unusual behaviour of windows explorer. After logon the taskbar shows up for a blink of eye, and then closes. Explorer.exe cannot be started from task manager as well (the same behaviour). Iexplore.exe neither.

Nov 21, 2006I tried to find the button to shut this off but I can't. The problem is that when I am in explorer and click on any links they open up in firefox. Even in messenger when I click on mail it opens firefox instead of explorer. And so msn takes me to a different page then what it usually does and pisses me off. Also like when I want to do windows update it opens up in firefox so it does not work. I like firefox and use it for almost everything but there is just some thing explorer can do that firefox can't, ie: like update windows. So how do I get it to work like it is suppose to?

All my folders open then freeze and i have to close through the windows task manager.This happens almost immediately when i access my harddrive F from a shortcut on the desktop. It doesn't happen as fast when accessing other folders on the desktop or folders through shortcuts on the desktop, but within time errors all the same. I've also noticed a program opens in the windows task manager whenever this happens.The program is drwtsn32.exe.

Aug 26, 2006Lately I'm getting the "I.E. has encountered a problem and needs to close" message so of course I lose what I had open and have to start over. It's not doing it constantly or consistant on the same websites but it is at least a few to several times a day now. It seems to do it most often when leaving a site and trying to go back to whatever preceeded it especially if I click the back button more than once(unnecessary habit I know).
Here is the info shown for the problem:

The offset # is the only one that is different each time it comes up.
* I've ran the Norton system scan a few times( just their regular version, not their registry cleaner)

* Keep Spyware Blaster up to date
* and tried CCcleaner
None of which made any difference.
Bunch Of Internet Links - Icons Are Unmovable
Nov 15, 2007this all started after I was reading a post about someones sound problems that were similar to mine. Someone made a post saying to download a registry entry and run it. I did and then i restared the computer and got a buttload of symptoms. (trying to find the link to the editor)Starts slowly and waits at the welcome screen for awhile.All I see is the desktop backgound, no toolbar or icons.I can get the icons back thru Cntrl-Alt-Dlt, Run new task "explorer.exe"This brings back the icons but not the toolbar and the icons are unmovable.A bunch of internet links dont work and get alot of errors saying i dont have java enabled.

But When I close all the windows for the second instance of Explorer, the process frequently does not terminate. So then when I try to open another folder window, nothing happens. I have to quit Explorer manually to get it working again. This has happened several times now, and I'm getting tired of it. I'm running XP MCE 2002 Edition, all the latest updates.

Feb 25, 2007So I have an iPod and external hard drive connected by USB.My Dell only recognizes these devices maybe 50% of the time or so, unless I start with the iPod connected, which will work fine. If I start with the external hard drive connected, it isn't recognized until I reconnect it. I had USB recognition problems, and Dell sent me a new motherboard for my Inspiron E1705, which I installed myself successfully. Now my computer recognizes my printer consistently, but the hard drive and iPod are iffy.I disregarded this and tried to add more music to my iPod. At first, it was giving me disc writing errors. Later on, it would either freeze or only add a small portion of the songs. So I started fiddling around with the order things were connected, and now My Computer freezes when I open it. I restarted my laptop, tried a diagnostic in iTunes (with the iPod attached at startup, which opened iTunes, then closed iTunes so I could turn on my external hard drive where my music is stored, reopened iTunes where music worked by iPod wasn't being recognized by iTunes), and it said I was having iPod connection problems.
