A while back I had a program or a tweak that enabled me to change/add to the list on the left side of the window that opens when you want to save or save as. So, if I was saving a photo, instead of clicking on My Documents >> My Pictures, I was able to just click on My Pictures, ect. (See Photo) Does anyone know of a tweak/program that would allow me to do this?
I need to know how to save the pictures in the My Pictures folder to CD. I am going to format and reinstall XP Home and if I do, I will lose these pictures unless I save them.
My father has an HP SP2 computer. He is 76 now and can not figure alot of things out now. He asked me last night how to save pictures in emails. I told him to right click and save as whatever he wanted to call it. Well when he goes to My Pictures, there it is but there is nothing underneath it describing what it is. He has to put his cursor over it in order to find out what it is. Mine is not like that at all. It has the file name underneath it. What am I telling him to do wrong?
I do alot of image work so i have alot of images... when i go to save an image in the my pictures folder, it does not show up. so i think, i go into windows explorer to the my pictures folder and only some of them show up.
I had no idea where to put this thread, but since I am running XP Home SP2 I put it here. EVERY picture I save in "My Pictures" ends up in the list of available wallpapers in the display properties. My other computer did not do this, I had to manual choose a particular pic from my folders and then I could use it as a wallpaper. The pictures were not just routed there by default like it seems to be doing now. My big issue is the list is now ridiculously long & I don't know how to stop them from going there & undo the ones that are already on the list.
when i open my pictures from the start menu, the left hand side of the screen used to have a lot of options such as slide show ,move folder. now the icons cover the whole screen. i have also lost filmstrip from the view menu.
I cant send pictures or click on an adress, when the window pops up it says page cannot be displayed. I got rid of it Before but now it doesnt work again.
When I right click to "Save Image as" on a graphic file, the "Save As" window pops up and it lets me go through all the motions of selecting a location and name for the file, but then it does not actually save it when I click the "Save" button. The file does NOT get saved. And the progress and completion window does not come up to confirm the save. This has happened once before about a year ago, and I somehow fixed it by accident. Now it has happened again, and for the life of me.
when i tried to download mp3 in a site, i right clicked at the link and tried to click "Save target as" to download the file, but when the box just pop, the "Save target as" is not available..
This is kind of related to my ctrl+alt+del button, as well as my favorites button freezing. Once I am online for 30 minutes or so, when I go to an image and right click>save as, the window will freeze and I will have to close it. Same with my favorites button, after 30 minutes or so being online, it will freeze when i click it. I can use the Favorites drop-down list (in between view and tools) fine, so that isnt too big of a problem. This is also the same with my crtl+alt+del, it will freeze after being on 30 minutes or so. But it doesnt happen everytime, just sometimes.
Whenever I right click now, all the options are what I'd call invisible, and I have to move the mouse over where they options would be to make them each appear individually.
I had a thread about this before, but I'm back where I started. This time, tweak UI is not working for me.When a user purchases or reformats Windows XP, what are the default options for the File>New or Right-Click>New, and how can I restore them? I know I'm missing creating new text documents, but I know there must be other items as well.
Have Win2K/IE6...how do I delete unwanted menu items from the Right Click "Save Image As" menu? The number of items causes the menu box to be either top justified or bottom justified, depending on where the cursor is located when the right click button is used. I am therefore having to move the cursor all over the screen to chase the desired "save Image" command. Also, with IE6, several menu items have been added (over IE5)....but, I am NEVER going to "email picture", "print picture", nor "go to my pictures" from this menu box. I could delete 7 of these pesky items, if I knew how, thus making this a much more user friendly menu box.
I have a problem with XP in that if I right click on a file the drop-down options appear and if I move down to select an option mostly I get a warning that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I click Debug but then get a Warning that DrWatson debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close as well. On the right click drop-down there is an option "Open with Videozilla". I have a hunch that this may have something to do with the problem because it is mostly when this is highlighted in navigating down the options that the problem occurs.
I searched all files for "zilla" and only remnants of Mozilla were found, which I removed. No Videozilla files were found. When the mouse hits Videozilla the folder closes, all icons on desktop disappear for a few seconds as if the PC was resetting. It does not crash but is infuriating. Anybody else ever experience something similar? I could be barking up the wrong tree blaming Videozilla.
I followed this guide, to add options when you right click, but instead of editing folder, I actually edited file folder. It said at the bottom you need to go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTFoldershellCreate_File_Listing in the registry to remove it, but i couldn't find file folder.I want it back again so when i double click a folder, it opens the folder. I didn't know what the windows explorer .exe name was or where it was stored, so for the time being i have to right click>>Open
I've got a very strange problem with my right click menu where if I right click something, file or empty space, the menu pops up with options missing. I'll open an application/program and the right click menu will lose some more options... eventually I'm left with no menu at all, I right click and nothing happens, and left click and I can see from the animations on buttons that the computer is recognising a click, but nothing happens. If I close a program, part of the menu comes back. This happens for any and every program, programs which I've been using for years. I always keep my antivirus software up to date and scans detect no viruses. I system restored back two months and the problem was still there. Today I wiped my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP as a last resort to get rid of this issue, and it's still there! I have no idea what it is, what's causing it or why it's happening, and I can't find any way to get rid of it other than continue to close programs to restore options, but that's not good enough because eventually I end up with no programs left to close and the only way for my clicks to work again is to reboot.
I read that in TOOLS--->Internet options--->Advance, there's a setting that I can make the pulldown manu not be truncated. I can't find it for the life of me.
every time i insert a DVD into my computer, i try and double click on the drive, but an error comes up saying "D: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing these actions. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel
For the past two weeks, when I start or restart my Dell Dimension 8250 running Windows XP Home Edition, it passes through a blue page with a Windows label that says: "Checking the file system on C; The type of file is NTFS; Cannot open volume for direct access; Windows has finished checking the disk." Otherwise the computer seems to start up normally and operate as usual. Something has changed and I don't know what the problem may be.
I cant download i cant get into the internet options i cant print i cant right click i can copy and paste (at the top of the screen where the blue bar with the minimize and close) it should say internet explorer but there is nothing there. I hope i'm posting this in the correct forum. here goes. i have an acer aspire one netbook running windows xp. now, usually, i am able to go on the internet, go into my facebook or flickr account and if i want to take that photo and save it to my desktop so i can upload it to another forum or a blog, i right-click it, 'save as', and then a new window pops up and it lets me pick a folder where i want it to go. for some reason, when i right click on an image and hit 'save as', nothing happens. no window pops up. i know it's not one of those copyright/code things because i went into my own facebook account, right-clicked some photos in my own album, and it still won't let me save them into a chosen folder.
I'm getting this perpetual lag issue. Windows folders and internet pages load slowly load slowly, and the mouse cursor responds to clicks when it feels like it. I've checked the mouse, and that's not the problem. I checked Task Manager and downloaded Process Explorer, but I never see more than 15% usage at a time. I've also run AVG for viruses/malware, but nothing comes up. I've had similar problems before, when a piece of hardware died, but so far I can't find any conflicts.
In IE7, when I click on Tools>Internet Options, the Internet Options box will appear for a split second, then disappear. Does anyone have a solution for this?
I need some helpadvice about installing 2 operating systems on 2 different hard drivers. I have Windows XP x64 bit on one of the HDD, and I have bought a new HDD,I would like to install the same operating system on the new HDD,how do I do it? Just plug-in the new HDD and install a new OS on it?Or do I need to detach one and then install the os on the new one?
I can't find in the internet information about installing the same OS on different HDD only about different OS.
Internet Options won't open in Windows Xp Pro Sp3 from Control Panel or anywhere else. I have checked SYSTEM32 and there is inetcpl (control panel extension file) and inetcplc.dll. I have tried opening Internet Options in Run, no luck. I have also run a VB script written by someone on the web to Remove Internet Restriction. Didn't work. Here is the error message I get when trying to open Internet Options from within Internet Explorer 8 (I usually use Firefox BTW, the latest, and this update was two days ago.
It doesn't mater if I use IE tools or control panel, when I click (internet options) it doesn't open. I'm running windows XP and I have not installed anything new. I have all the anti stuff, ( SuperAntiSpyware -Trend Micro - Advance System Care - Easy Cleaner) I've even turned them all off, but it still won't open.
